Here is the final rendition of the 1930 Revere Hotel in Brockvlle with it's big buses to take you to Ottawa!
It has a Tait's Bakery wagon down the hill, delivering fresh bread products to this favorite Hotel!
I also added the little horse and wagon bus to the front entrance, as it was used back then to transport visitors to the Hotel from the Ferry down at the St.Lawrence River. They all would have crossed the River from Morristown New York. I understand that the wagon is presently at Upper Canada Village! It should be here at the Brockville Museum!!
I will be offering this Limited Edition Print (Only 100) signed and numbered with an Authentication Certificate this coming April. They are being offered for $49 Can.
I have just finished a painting of a Backyard Rink that friends of ours in Nepean have built for their kids and the neighbourhood! They sent me a pile of photos and some instructions, hoping I could bring it all together for something they all could enjoy!!
They had some special LOGOS they placed under the ice !! One is from where the father works!
It will be picked-up on Friday and probably on their wall at home next week!
It's nice to be able to share some memories with folks in this way!! I had fun doing it, and I know they will love having it!!

When I first read this item I had to say out loud: " HOLY COW !!" But the item in the Ottawa Citizen newspaper was quite clear, and I checked the date, to find that it was NOT APRIL FOOL'S DAY,..but it was VALENTINE'S DAY!! What an item for lovers!
Is this really going to create a new FAD here in Canada, and competition for poor old PEPSI?
What do YOU think??

Can you see the LIGHT at the end of the TUNNEL ?? I can!!

We are starting a new Group on Multiply here, to promote the new development of the Historical TRAIN TUNNEL we have running under the Brockville City where I live!
I am suggesting we spruce it up and check the safety of the idea, along with anyone with ideas as to how to make it come ALIVE AGAIN !!
The miniature trains I would like to see running up and down it are here portrayed, and I know the children visiting will enjoy the thrill of such a ride!! GrownUps TOO !!
Jim Davis of Kemptville has been operating his TRAIN RIDE for some years now, between the Spencerville FAIR and the Smiths Falls RAILWAY MUSEUM ,..and I am enclosing many photos I had taken of it and him right back to the days when he was building it all!

I know,...it's about time, John,...you took long enough to get this great memory place from Brockville done!!
Many will remember her, before the fire of 1974 that erased one of the popular spots in town!
With City Hall next door (across the street) I'm certain that many Mayors enjoyed the Dining Room frequently!
So many people worked there and enjoyed meeting their freinds and family there, and visitors arriving even by Ferry from the States, would be brought by the Bus Wagon (at the front door) or by one of the huge buses that ran as far as Ottawa in those days! You can see Tait's Bakery wagon down the hill, delivering fresh Bakery goods to the Hotell!
I enjoy these renderings! I can add something out of life to them, and paste in some memories while I portray the distinctive architecture that so many have etched in their hearts!! Fairwell old Revere!! She will be remembered for years to come!!
The historical photos I worked from are included here, with thanks to the B...

Here is what it looks like outside my Studio on the First Day of February!! It was nice and sunny, with a small wind , but Babes and I went walking along the deep canals of sidewalk that are 'carved' into the snow on both sides! It is really neat!! Babes will blindly (for she has no sight!) bounce from one side to the other, filling her nose full of snow and enjoying the 'sniff' of all the other dogs that leave their 'calling cards' in yellow handwriting in the snow! She leaves a pretty good signature herself, when you start to try to decifer who is who!! ha ha!! Maybe I'll put some Grape colouring in her water and we will KNOW when she leaves her mark!! ha ha!!
The fir tree beside my window has such nice puffs of snow on it, and the birds enjoy coming for their treats and seeds. I put out some chocolate marshmallow cookies that had been in the cupboard for awhile, and the crows took them home like it was a party! Imagine! Marshmallows! Our Park bench, where we usually read the...
I have seen this done just last year in Kingston, by a fine young lady who enjoyed seeing her art walked all over!! This artist here is Julian Beever and his stuff is done all over the world!! I am adding some pictures to an Album of his work, for he really does it for me!! "3D Art" on sidewalks!! Imagine!!
I had compiled a couple of photos together in this art, to invest the idea of history to this magnificent building in our town. The moment I saw it for the first time, I knew I would have to capture it in pen and ink! Castles do that to me all the time!! I can't surf through old pictures of chateaus in France or Scotland or Ireland, and I'm inspired to get the old pen out and start creating a nice pen and ink!
'Click' on the Pen & Ink to see the larger version for the detail. The actual pictures I took of the Armory and the cannons outside on the lawn, were enough to allow me to pick what angle I wanted to capture and where to place my Cartoon of the Colonel in the British Army! No, he doesn't look like Colonel Brock's Portrait, but was handsome enough for this art of the building! I plan to do another with the actual uniformed soldiers of the 1700's involved with the cannon!
Let me know what you think of my building, as I include it into the Kiddie Colouring Book of Broc...

It took some doing, to mold all the ellements together that the name spoke of,.....Canal, Railway & Chocolate Festival in Smiths Falls. Quite an order!
The Canal is the Rideau Canal built by Colonel By and I put him into a canoe that was used back in the 1830's and the famous lift-bridge for trains that crosses the Canal in that town.
The donuts complete the symbols, and I have to admit that I could not conceive of any other combination that would show this Festival in a family fun expression!
If you 'click' on the image it will get larger and then you can appreciate all that went into the design itself!
Let me know what you think!~~~~~~~~~~~~John
