Excerpt
He took a step forward, again seeming to loom over me. I leaned farther back, but I was trapped—I would either have to climb up on the bed or push my way past him. I wasn’t sure which would be better.
Then it was too late—he grabbed my upper arms and stared into my eyes. His hands burned hot against my skin. His eyes, too, glittered feverishly, golden highlights churning through the brown.
The intensity of his stare captured me. I drew in another breath, full of the scent of him, and my head swam. Again the color leached out of the room. This time, though, I couldn’t look away from him, couldn’t hide the way my eyes changed, the pupils narrowing and lengthening. The room shifted into shades of gray, and his golden eyes turned silvery as they held my own.
He inhaled sharply as he saw the transformation and his hands tightened convulsively.
“How are you here?” he whispered, shaking his head.
He pulled me closer to him, staring into my eyes. My pulse pounded in my temples. The muscles of my abdomen started to roil; I was about to shift, and I couldn’t control it.
And I might just be okay with that, some quiet, still part of my mind whispered from far away, because this man terrified me. I might have a better chance against him in my serpent form.
But something—some instinct deeper than thought—urged me to maintain my humanity.
I still couldn’t break eye contact; his gaze was hypnotic.
He leaned in and kissed me.

Title: Nora & Kettle
Series: A Paper Stars Novel
Author: Lauren Nicolle Taylor
Published: February 29th (ebook), March 15th (print)
Publisher: Clean Teen Publishing
Genre: YA Historical
Recommended Age: 13+
Synopsis:
“What if Peter Pan was a homeless kid just trying to survive, and Wendy flew away for a really good reason?”
Seventeen-year-old Kettle has had his share of adversity. As an orphaned Japanese American struggling to make a life in the aftermath of an event in history not often referred to the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II and the removal of children from orphanages for having “one drop of Japanese blood in them” things are finally looking up. He has his hideout in an abandoned subway tunnel, a job, and his gang of Lost Boys.
Desperate to run away, the world outside her oppressive brownstone calls to naive, eighteen-year-old Nora the privileged daughter of a controlling and violent civil rights lawyer who is building a compensation case for the interned Japanese Americans. But she is trapped, enduring abuse to protect her younger sister Frankie and wishing on the stars every night for things to change.
For months, they’ve lived side by side, their paths crossing yet never meeting. But when Nora is nearly killed and her sister taken away, their worlds collide as Kettle, grief stricken at the loss of a friend, angrily pulls Nora from her window.
In her honeyed eyes, Kettle sees sadness and suffering. In his, Nora sees the chance to take to the window and fly away.
Set in 1953, Nora & Kettle explores the collision of two teenagers facing extraordinary hardship. Their meeting is inevitable, devastating, and ultimately healing. Their stories, “a collection of events, are each on their own harmless. But together, one after the other, they change the world.”
FAMILY
KETTLE
Time is hard to tell when the lights flicker on and off with a mind of their own, but the frigid air makes me suspect it’s nearly dawn. One day, they’ll stop working all together as the wires erode from lack of maintenance.
I scrape my eyelids of sleep and grit, propping myself up on my elbows. The sound of snoring kids is intermittently drowned out by subway cars whooshing through tunnels. No one stirs. The rattle of wheels over tracks is a lullaby, comforting, reassuring.
Two nights home and now I have to leave again.
I sigh loudly and collect my gear. Keeper’s small voice penetrates the hazy light. “You going already?” she whispers as she wipes the back of her hand under her runny nose. I crawl over sleeping bodies and touch her forehead. She feels a little clammy, a little too warm.
“You feeling okay, Keeps?” I ask softly.
She nods her head and coughs into her palm. “Just a cold,” she says and smiles for me. Her big, green eyes blink, red rimmed. “Mubbee I got allergies?” she asks.
I sling an arm around her slim shoulders and laugh, pulling her to me. “Maybe. Just take it easy today. Make sure everyone cleans up before lunchtime, eh?” She scribbles notes in a frayed pad of paper I gave her six months ago, licking the tip of the pen every now and then.
The corners of her mouth are stained with black ink when she grins and nods. “Yes sir, Kettle.” She sniffs again, and I hand her a handkerchief from my pocket. She nuzzles into my chest, almost purring just like a cat.
“I don’t need anyone getting sick, okay?” I warn with a wink.
She coughs, trying to cover it by stooping over. Her black hair falls over her face in one solid lump. I light a candle and peer at the watch nailed to the rocks behind me. I’ve only got about half an hour.
“Keeps?” She swings around, hair hanging over her eyes and in her mouth. “Come here, let me show you something.” She shuffles closer, looking a little scared. I pull out a hairbrush from the bag I brought home last night. “This is a hairbrush.” She squints at it, waiting for it to do something. “It’s for your hair, so it’s not so, um, hard to manage…” She tips her head to the side, looking for all intents and purposes like a puppy about to have its first bath. She’s our first and only girl resident. “Come sit in front of me.” I pat the ground gently, and she slides backward. “Don’t be scared. I’m not going to hurt you,” I reassure, although I’m not one hundred percent sure that’s true. “Keeps, what did I say when you came to live here, when you became a King?”
“Dat I could stay as long as I wanted and dat you would keep me safe,” she replies warily.
I grip the brush firmly in my hand and gesture to the section of cold stone in front of my crossed legs. “Do you believe that’s true?”
She scrunches her eyes shut and says, “Yes.” Crawling over to sit in front of me, she turns her mound of thick, black hair my way.
I raise the brush to her head, place it in her hair, and make a liar of myself.
*****
The boys cover their ears to shield themselves from her caterwauling.
“Throw her back,” Krow mutters, scowling, which only makes her scream louder.
She bends her head back every time I run the brush through and screeches like I’m actually scalping her. The brush snags in the dirty clumps, and I can’t pull it through. I’ve said sorry about a hundred times but now that I’ve started, I feel like I need to finish it. She needs to look less like a street urchin and more like a child on her way to school if we’re going to remain inconspicuous.
On the hundredth and fiftieth scream, Kin finally storms over. He gets up in her face, and I think he’s going to tell her to shut up. It’s what I should have done, but I feel at a loss on how to deal with a ten-year-old girl who thinks I’m torturing her.
“Keeper, what would you like me to do? I can cut it all off or you can let us clean it up. Right now you look like a drowned rat wearing a dead cat toupee. Do you want to look like a drowned rat with a bad hairpiece?” Kin says.
She shakes her head and whimpers. Then she whispers, “I wanna look like that.” She points to the catalogue I’ve been teaching some of them to read from. A sweet girl with long brown hair in two plaits on either side of her head smiles thinly at us, her eyes round and blue, her ribbons frozen in mid-swing.
Both Kin and I stare at each other and gulp. Then Kin puffs out his chest, swears, and laughs. “If you can rescue women from burning buildings, together we can surely plait a ten-year-old girl’s hair.”
The boys snicker. “Shh!” I snap and then look to Kin. “Here you do this side and I’ll take the other.” We separate her hair into two uneven handfuls and go to work. With my mouth pressed tight, I start, with one eye on the photo we’re trying to replicate. The other eye is watching Kin try to plait hair with his giant paws. I swear he’s starting to sweat. I snort, gripping her hair so it doesn’t fall out.
Kin’s face jerks to mine. “What?”
I look down at the ground, my eyes watering. “Um, nothing…”
Kin holds his twisted clump of hair tightly, a concentrated, almost cross-eyed look on his face. “What?”
A laugh escapes my mouth, and all the boys join in. “I can’t watch you. My God. It’s like watching a bear try to peel a plastic banana!”
Kin sighs in exasperation but refuses to give up, a small smile creeping into his stern expression. “Yeah well, you’re surprisingly good at this. Anything you wanna tell us?”
Laughter fills the rocky space. It’s warm and bright, scrubbing the walls of grime and filling my heart.
When we’re finally done, I grip my plait tightly in my fingers, searching for something to tie it with. Krow steps forward and begrudgingly hands me two bread bag ties, which I wind around the ends. I push Keeps gently in the back. “There. That wasn’t so bad, was it?”
Turning around, she gives me a look of ‘you’re kidding, right?’ and scampers to the mirror. She frowns when she meets her reflection. Her whole face is now visible, smooshed cheeks and pinchy little ears. She looks cute. She tips her head down, and one large lump falls over her eyes. I remember the gift I bought that I was saving for her King birthday. Fishing around in the paper bag, I retrieve two red clips with white polka dots on them. Keeps stares at herself like she doesn’t know it’s her face. I sweep her fringe back and clip it in place. She touches it lightly, like I’ve just put a diamond tiara on her head.
She smiles sweetly, her dark lips brimming with teeth. “I think you should cut it off. I’m a King, not a queen,” she states proudly.
I stall in shock, and then my heart does that proud, pumping-strong thing. Kin slaps my back, and I stumble forward. Keeps draws in a sharp breath as I fall and begins coughing uncontrollably.
“We’re going to be late,” Kin says, extending a long arm in my direction, his eyes sliding to the coughing girl sitting delicately on a faded purple cushion. “We’ll think about the haircut.”
I smile at her. “Think about it some more, Keeps. You might miss it when it’s gone.”
Her determined eyes tell me otherwise. Her sallow, sweaty skin worries me.
We leave the boys and… girl… with instructions and head to work.

Sugar Scars
By- Travis Norwood
Genre- Post Apocalyptic/Sci Fi
Living after the apocalypse really isn’t that hard for most of the survivors. The virus killed all but 1 in 10,000. The few remaining people are left in a world of virtually unlimited resources. Grocery stores overflowing with food and drink. Thousands of empty houses to pick from.
But one survivor, a nineteen-year-old girl, requires more than simple food, water and shelter. As a type 1 diabetic her body desperately needs insulin to stay alive. With civilization gone, no one manufactures it anymore. She hoards all the insulin she can find, but every day marches toward the end of her stash of vials. She has a choice. Accept her fate and death, or tackle the almost insurmountable task of extracting and refining the insulin herself.
Brilliant scientists struggled to make the first insulin. What hope does a high school dropout have?
Author Interview
Where do you dream of traveling to and why?
Alaska. Like the main character in Sugar Scars, I like to be alone. I love the idea of a beautiful, vast, empty wilderness. I would love to just explore the land.
Of course I’m not much of an outdoorsman, so I’d probably get eaten by something else that was also trying to enjoy the solitude.
What do you think makes a good story?
A story without clear heroes and villains. Where you can understand the perspective and motivations of each character. Where you can see why each character does what they do, even if you think what they’re doing is wrong.
Tell us about your family.
I have an awesome wife and five children. Two girls and three boys, ages from six to seventeen. We adopted one of our sons from Kazakhstan.
We had another girl that was in our home until she was nearly four. We adopted her, but there was a legal battle and the adoption was voided. In my heart she’ll always be my daughter and every time I have to say that I have five kids, instead of six, it stings a little.
What are your favorite TV shows?
I don’t watch many shows, but my family always takes time for Survivor. Of all the reality shows they understand that it’s really about finding interesting people. The producers find a way to weave a story. It’s not the whole story. People are often misrepresented. But they find a way to make a consistent narrative instead of just filming stuff and presenting a timeline.
I love Doctor Who. My kids introduced me to it. At first I thought it was too weird, but then I got into it. I particularly like the long story arcs.
My favorite new show is Daredevil on Netflix. They are handling the characters wonderfully. Even the villain is a sympathetic character.
What are you passionate about these days?
Caring for abandoned children. My wife and I have done foster care and also adopted. This theme shows up continually in my writing, even though I don’t always consciously intend it to. The heart of real morality is caring for those who can’t repay you.
Do your friends think you are an introvert or an extravert? Why?
I am the king of all introverts. It’s not that I don’t like people. Being around people drains my batteries. I charge back up when I’m alone.
A perfect work day for me is to work on a problem and not speak to anyone. Then when I get home I’m eager to spend some time with my wife and kids. If I have to spend the whole day talking with people, then I want to be by myself when I get away from work.
Of course, when you’re a husband and a father, you don’t always get to have it the way you want. Sometimes they need to charge their batteries by being with me. I understand and can adapt pretty well.
You just won a huge lottery what is the first thing you’ll buy?
A larger house. My wife and I have five kids in a 1,900 square foot house. I make a decent income and most people would expect us to live in a larger place, but we decided to spend our money on adopting some of our children (which is extremely expensive). We’re happy where we are and keep putting money into other things, but if I win the lottery, we’re going to get a little more leg room.
Is there a piece of advice that you have received that has really stuck with you? If so, what was it?
Always have an ending in mind for a story. You can’t just start writing and hope it works out. We’ve all read books that started great and ended poorly. With each of my books, I always have an ending that I’m advancing toward. I think of a lot of things as I write, but everything is always progressing towards a satisfying ending.
About the Author-

Author Interview
1.Who is your favorite author?
I love a LOT of authors. For different reasons each. But probably my favorite, if I really had to choose only one, would be Jennifer L Armentrout. Because, not only does she write AWESOME books, but she write for different age groups (YA, NA, and Adult) and she write in different genres (Romance, Paranormal, Fantasy, Contemporary) But she writes FAST. So, as a reader she’s awesome, because she puts out a LOT of GREAT books, but as a writer, she’s an inspiration.
2.What books have most influenced your life?
So, when I was 12-14 years old, I spent as much time as possible in the library. I would check out like 10 books and read them all in a matter of days. (There’s also a cemetery RIGHT next to our library, and I would totally go read in the library like a weirdo.) BUT- as I grew up, I stopped reading. I didnt read for a long time- unless I had to. When I was in my senior English class, and I had to read 1984- it was the first time in years that I enjoyed reading again. I enjoyed it so much, that I began reading again- a lot. It creeped me out, and still does. Like- that’s a horror book to me.
Some runner ups- Twilight- because it made me want to WRITE. And the Trylle series, because it led me to Self-publish my first book.
3.What are your favorite TV shows?
Ready? I have a few.
Supernatural!!! Buffy! The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Charmed, Angel, TVD, The Originals, True Blood, Dollhouse, and Roswell. Off the top of my head anyways.
4.Do you have any special routines or rituals?
When I write, I have to listen to music. BUT it has to be music thats not jumpy, or that makes you want to dance, or belt out a ballad. I listen to electronica/dubstep a lot when I write. Or the Pandora station- Classical goes pop. I listen a lot to Muse, or the XX. It’s a must.
5.If you could apologize to someone in your past, who would it be?
This is a serious, deep question. Normally, I regret NOTHING about my past. because my past, and my mistakes/failures/accomplishments/everything makes me who I am today. And I like who I am.
BUT- I would apologize to my eldest child’s father- who died earlier this year. I would tell him sorry that I hated him for so long. Sorry that I never forgave him.
And just a note- forgive people. Not for them, necessarily, or because they deserve or not to be forgiven. But for yourself. Because everyone dies. And you never know when it’ll happen. Forgive people for yourself to heal.
6.What makes you happy?
My kids. My family. Reading a great book. Writing. Christmas songs and the NEED to wear a jacket. Halloween decorations and costumes. The smell of rain. Reading outside, while its raining, and cold, with Christmas songs playing.

WHAT IS PINK INK:
Pink Ink Designs is a graphic, print and web design company based in Charlottesville, Virginia with a strong focus in book cover design, author branding, and interior book formatting. While my home may be in Virginia, most of my clients are located throughout the United States and beyond. I place a huge emphasis on awesome design, excellent client service, and timely communication. Throughout my thorough design process, you work directly with me as we create a look that reflects your style.
HOW I GOT HERE:
As a graphic design student at Piedmont Virginia Community College and a self taught designer, my goal of being an author as well as opening my own graphic design business has always been a dream of mine. Over the last year, I have slowly geared my career path towards this goal, taking in every bit of business and design experience I could along the way. I threw together my own brand and website with big hopes and fingers crossed for Pink Ink Designs. By December of 2014 my business had taken off faster than I could have ever hoped and lead me to take the leap into full time self employment as of April 30, 2015.
ON A PERSONAL NOTE:
In between designing, I am a contemporary/erotic romance author as well as a group fitness instructor at Gold’s Gym where I am a Les Mills instructor certified in BodyAttack, BodyCombat, BodyFlow, BodyStep, and Body Pump. I have three wonderful children and a very loving and supportive husband who has been with me as I have chased after my dream. I was born and raised in Arkansas (Go Razorbacks!) but have lived in Virginia for the past 12 years.

“Cassy Roop of Pink Ink Designs is one of the most talented people I have ever worked with. Not only are her cover designs brilliant, she is a truly amazing person. She is extremely talented and has designed the most amazing book covers for me. She’s quick and knows exactly what I want without me having to tell her. She can take an ordinary photograph and turn it into a masterpiece that represents my stories in the best possible way. She’s very professional and a hard working individual that is a true pleasure to work with. I look forward to working with her on many more book covers now and in the future. Pink Ink Designs is the way to go!”
-Sandi Lynn USA TODAY and NYT Bestselling Author
“Cassy is amazing. I needed a formatter who could meet my deadline. I received the file back within 24 hours of sending it to her. She is efficient and patient with an unbelievable turnaround time. I’m very impressed. I look forward to working with her again on future projects.” –Jen Scott Khan, Author

There are five stages of grief.
Denial.
Bargaining.
Anger.
Depression.
Acceptance.
Losing the love of your life is one of the hardest things anyone would ever have to face. Especially when your life with them was just beginning.
When tragedy strikes on what should be the happiest time of your life, how are you supposed to pick up the pieces of your life and move on without them?
Two strangers who happen to share a life changing event, come to find solace in each other to help deal with their pain. One of them feels the guilt of being the reason that a life was lost. The other guilty for making a last second choice.
Both of them, guilty that they survived.
But what happens when a bond that surfaces from tragedy brings these two strangers together? Finding comfort in each other as they both deal with the same pain, was never the plan. Can they look beyond the guilt of the past in order stop themselves dying along with their loved ones, but instead live and learn to love again?
What happens when losing your first love becomes the reason for meeting your one true love?
Emotions play an important role in how we think and behave. Our emotions are composed by how we experience them, how our bodies react to them, and how we act in response to them.
Nicola Forbes was born with a condition that leaves her with the inability to express or recognize emotions. It is only through countless years of therapy and repetition, that she can acknowledge some signs of emotions in other people.
Being an emotional blank canvas has Nicola seeking out the only thing she does feel—pleasure. One of the highest paid escorts in New York City, she seeks solace through physical intimacy with her clients like it is a drug that she needs to survive.
Andris Gunn, a psychiatrist with his own mental issues, lives a secret life in order to deal with his inner demons. Unbeknownst to him, he engages one of his patients into his secret world of ecstasy, desire, and physical pleasure that is the only thing to placate his own inner turmoil.
The trigger that Nicola and her doctors have been searching for nearly her whole life—the catalyst to ignite feelings within her— has sparked.
VOID is an erotic romance novel about seeking emotional barriers and tearing them down. It is a tale of deceit, betrayal, and lies, but even in the darkest of times, love will find a way.
I AM AN ESCORT.
I screw men and get screwed for money,
living my life everyday as Jericho Lane.
My clientele list is immaculate.
I am sought out, demanded
and damn good at my job.
I don’t care that these men have families at home,
or that they are important people.
I do it for the money.
to survive.
There is nothing that could make me
feel a bit of remorse or
concern about what I do because
I was born with the inability
to experience or feel emotions…
I don’t feel PAIN
I don’t feel SORROW.
I don’t feel extreme HAPPINESS or LOVE
I am VOID.
A blank canvas of emotions.
An empty hole in an endless sea of
circumstances, moods and relationships.
Until one client changes EVERYTHING.
Two short months before graduating high school, Kendall Jones’ world is ripped apart at the seams. A stranger rescues her from a near brutal attack, but is unable to save her parents from death. Eight years later, Kendall moves to New York, hoping to put her past behind her, and once again finds herself in need of rescue.
Tristan Price saves the life of a young woman, who then haunts his dreams for eight long years. When she literally falls at his feet, Tristan decides that he will protect her, no matter what the cost. When her past comes back to threaten her, his plan to keep her close could cost his heart.
Can Tristan save Kendall a second time, and at what cost? Can the price of love overshadow the darkness of her past?
Ashley’s Bend-a knot used to securely join the ends of two ropes together.
Ashley Carter thought she had the perfect life as the loving and supportive wife to her upcoming attorney husband. Marrying her high school sweetheart and moving to Chicago to start a life with him seemed perfect, until she ends up walking in on him with another woman.
Determined to start her life over after always sacrificing herself, she attends the grand opening of a new club in town with her best friend. She went expecting to have a good time, what she didn’t expect was to meet Dominic Michaels.
Dominic Michaels is the owner operator of a string of BDSM clubs, The Celtic Knot. He displays control and power over everything in his life, especially his women. Having suffered through a tragic event at a young age, he never allows a woman to remain a part of his life beyond the bedroom, that is until he meets Ashley Carter.
Can the love of a woman loosen the knots of control that Dominic securely holds on to?
Sometimes it is hard to make the shift from control to surrender.

Figure Eight- A strong, secure knot that jams under pressure.
He was betrayed by the one person to loosen the knots of his control.
She sacrificed her love to protect him.
Blackmailed into destroying the man she desperately fell in love with, Ashley (Carter) Woodson tries desperately to cling to hope that Dominic will one day understand her reasons for her betrayal and stop the one person determined to keep them apart.
False accusations send Dominic Michaels into a legal battle involving The Celtic Knot and emotional turmoil from the devastation that Ashley caused him. The battle between his head and his heart makes picking up the pieces of his life difficult while he fights to escape the haunting memories of the only woman to break his control.
When outside forces conspire against them, will Dominic be able to unravel the ropes on his heart to trust Ashley again?
What happens when love exists on the edge between finished and infinity?

Triquetra—a Celtic Trinity Knot made of three interlocked pieces, often used to represent groups of three.
Dominic has survived falling in love for the first time, having his world shattered, and then finding that love again. What happens, though, when that love also loves someone else?
Ashley finally fought and won against the people keeping her and Dominic apart, but what she soon learns is that she now has to fight her own heart when feelings for another man have developed during her time apart from Dominic.
With a baby on the way, will Dominic be able to show Ashley they are meant to be or will she choose the man to which she owes her life?
What happens when you have to watch the person you love, love someone else?

Kelly Harris is feisty and her strong nature can probably rival that of most men. She isn’t one to take crap from anyone and has a tendency to challenge those who challenge her. A painful childhood left Kelly with a need for control in all things that she is unwilling to relinquish. Being known to dump men after just one date or one time in the sack is her usual style, until she meets Knoxville Tanner.
Knoxville Tanner is the co-owner of the BDSM club, The Celtic Knot. Having had his heart trampled on has left him jaded. The club gave him the ability to satisfy his sexual needs without the risk of commitment. On the night of the club’s grand opening, however, after meeting Kelly…that all went out the window.
Will Knox be able to concede control in order to give the one he loves what she desperately needs; and will Kelly be able to accept the sacrifice and in return give Knox the one thing that she has guarded the most…her heart?

Lilian Monroe and Jason Castle have been inseperable nearly their whole lives. Having formed the deepest of friendships at an early age, they created a bond that no one was able to break.
Both being offered amazing job opportunities after college, they had to come to terms with the distance those opportunities would create.
Deciding to take a vacation with a few of their closest friends was their way of saying goodbye to each other before their lives would be altered forever.
Two weeks of sun, sand, and bonding was all they planned on, but faced with the realization they wouldn’t be together in the same way again, both began to wonder if their relationship ran deeper than just friendship.
Will Lilian and Jason be able to let go of each other to chase their dreams? Or is what they have always dreamed of right in front of them?

Author Interview
What do you think makes a good story?
Characters people can relate to and who have quirks that make them feel more 3 dimensional. It’s so tough to come up with someone who is entirely original for an avid reader. But if someone is a stereotype I can be intrigued if they have little details that make them more interesting. A fetish for collecting watches, always drive the same car, speech impediment, limp we want to know where it originated. Something different.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A horse trainer, veterinarian, or wildlife biologist studying elephants in Africa. Started college as a wildlife biologist but decided I didn’t want to go so far from home and family.
What are your favorite TV shows?
I rarely watch tv. When I’m in the mood for tv I end up going on Netflix and bingeing on old action movies or the rare rom com.
What songs are most played on your Ipod?
Pandora’s Snow Patrol station is my favorite right now because it keeps me mellow while my life is wild with work, new house, kid, dog, etc.
What is your favorite meal?
I’m gluten free so I eat a ton of salad. When I splurge, I really like a petite filet with a side of sauteed onions and maybe some grilled veggies and red potatoes.
What group did you hang out with in high school?
Pretty shy so I hung out with a few close friends, which is how I still prefer to be. A few good friends that are all different so we we aren’t really a group. I do Muay Thai so there are fighters, writers of course, and coworkers.
What do you do to unwind and relax?
Every day when I come home from work I take a glass of red out onto the patio and sit while the dog runs around in the yard. Birds fly around, butterflies, the dog chases whatever and chews sticks. Sometimes I listen to music but sometimes I just sit. It’s wonderfully peaceful and lets me shift gears from a hectic office job.
What would you consider to be the best book you have ever read?
Where the Red Fern Grows
Who should play you in a film?
Tina Fey
Morning Person? Or Night Person? How do you know?
Totally a night person but now that I’m in a 9-5 job again I’m struggling to make myself a day side person. It’s been 2 years and I’m just starting to get there.

Genre- YA Paranormal
Publication Date- April 16th, 2014
Meet Layla McKelland:
Novelist (unpublished, but cut her some slack…seventeen is a bit early to despair),
Slightly neurotic introvert (Alright, let’s be honest…there’s no “slightly” about it),
International Woman of Mystery, and…
Okay, just scratch the bio.
The only real “mystery” in Layla’s life is why her father has never been on the scene. Or why her mother drags Layla to a new coastal home every year.
Nothing about the latest hometown seems too newsworthy…until a routine day at the beach leaves Layla questioning whether she’s read one too many paranormal fantasy novels. The plot thickens when a random guy claims to know things about her father—a bizarre claim he backs up with an equally impossible stunt. And Layla soon finds herself on the wrong side of a mysterious attempted drowning…on her own kitchen floor.
When all is done, Layla will attest that fact is far stranger than fiction. And nothing in real life is ever as transparent as it seems…Not even water.
Especially not water.

With her mom’s wedding on the horizon, will misinterpreted visions create new enemies who could threaten Lily’s exposure? Will death and heartache ruin the big day? For Lily, the answers only lead to impossible decisions. Does she embrace her powers or abandon them for false normalcy?
Kelly Hall’s second book, The Secret of Strange Waters, proves paranormal powers aren’t always a blessing.
Author Interview
Who is your favorite author? I love JR Ward’s writing. I love her stories. I am very weird about choosing favorites because what I like changes faster than SE TZ weather, but just choosing one, it’s her. Mostly because I’d love to meet her and spend a day picking her brain. She weaves so much detail and so much backstory into each character, that they seem alive to me. She’s just really talented.
What was the scariest moment of your life? I was riding down the freeway with a friend of mine back in ‘94, I’d just gotten married and my friend was 8 months pregnant, so it was a very exciting time for both of us in our lives. She was driving her little Honda Accord on the inside lane and there were cars all around us and we were behind an old beat up van that I couldn’t see around. All of a sudden that van whipped over into the other lane, and almost got rear ended by the car next to us, but the thing that scared me most was this huge boat of a brown car, that was just about to hit us head on. It was an old man who had gotten on the Freeway from an exit ramp and was going the wrong way. He hit us head-on before we had time to think or blink. I came out without a scratch, but my friend broke a toe and went into early labor, which they later got under control. We were both very lucky.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? I always wanted to be an artist, and create things. I do lots of different types of arts and crafts and I am glad that I have the opportunity to create art with words.
What are your favorite TV shows? I have several. I love The Originals, The Vampire Diaries, Face-Off, Ghost Adventures, Ghost Hunters, Salem, Bates Motel, and Mysteries at the Museum.
What do you do to unwind and relax? I love to create things. I love to get my hands into paint, glue, ink and transform a canvas. I also love being out in nature and I love taking my camera to the beach, lake, or woods and snapping pictures, collecting leaves, sticks, rocks, shells or anything else I find interesting. Returning to nature grounds me and revives me.
Do you have a favorite quote, quip, or saying? What is it? I do, it’s a fun one. “Be who you are, and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.” ~Dr. Seuss. I love that quote and I feel that people should express themselves, whether it’s through fashion, art or music. I just think it’s important to let your creativity flow and not care about who gets it or likes it. The people who matter will love you for it or in spite of it.

Seventeen-year-old Bianca Frost wants none of it, dreaming instead of a career in art or photography or…well, anything except working in the family’s museum. She knows the items in the glass display cases are fakes because, of course, magic doesn’t really exist.
She’s about to find out how wrong she is.

Title: Labeled Love
Series: Labeled Series #1
Author: Danielle Rocco
Genre: YA Romance
Release Date: August 6,2015
I was twelve years old when I met him. I guess you could say opposites attract. We didn’t know it then. Or maybe we did, but we didn’t care. It’s not easy growing up in Los Angeles. Well, for me it was. But, not for him.
I’m a Hollywood girl born and raised in the business.
I have everything I’ve ever needed
and only wanted him.
Is it possible to find your forever love when you’re thirteen? Maybe not for most, but I did.
I’m just a boy raised in the pits of Los Angeles.
I have nothing
and only ever wanted her.
Worlds apart
Miles away
It would only be her
It would only be him
Labels never defined us
But will they tear us apart
“One of my FAVORITE reads of the year and I don’t say that lightly. I love how this story begins at the “beginning” and we follow it all the way through in realistic and thought provoking way. The characters are easy to fall in love it. And yeah…” ~ My Book Boyfriend
“I am blown away this is Danielle’s first book, she absolutely has an amazing talent and I feel privileged that I got to experience it. The emotions and the “feels” she brought out of me was extraordinary!” ~ Sugar Shack Book Blog
“I’m completely in AWE over the raw emotions these characters bring out in me. I’m not one to read YA Romances very often, but boy what I’ve been missing in a truly mesmerizing fairytale of love.. ” ~ Goodreads Reviewer
I glance at him while twisting my lip up in amusement.”She’s the only one that makes me that way.” He rolls his eyes at me, pushing me toward the girl that makes my hear beat. I can feel it the closer I get to her. As our eyes lock, she stands up and starts walking toward me. She looks so damn pretty. Long, dark, wavy hair, bright blue eyes, and the prettiest smile I’ve ever seen wraps her arms around me. It’s comfort, it’s familiar, and it’s the best fucking feeling in the world.
It’s home.
Her embrace is all I need. Even over the smell of the fire, her intoxicating scent is around me, invading me to the point of surrender.
I don’t want to let go of her…
I could try to think of a bunch of exciting things to say about myself, but really I’m just a Mom who has stayed home raising my four fabulous kids. How did I become a writer? Well, when you have a house full of teenagers and all their friends at the house all day, you find plenty of inspiration. I’m married to my junior high school love, who still swoons me just as much as when we were fourteen years old. I love to laugh, swoon, daydream, and watch scary movies. Spending time with my family and friends is my idea of a perfect day and getting lost in a book is part of my bliss. My debut novel Labeled Love is just the beginning of my writing journey. Happy reading!

Bittersweet
Bittersweet Trilogy #1
By- Tyffani Clark Kemp
Genre- Mature YA Sci Fi/Romance
Expected Publication Date- ?
Welcome to Mother Cora’s, where the offspring of the Kaveesh learn to coexist with humans.
One hundred and twenty years ago, the Kaveesh came to Earth to save the dying planet from a disease that gorged itself on anything in its wake. Buildings crumbled to dust. Soil and plant life were consumed. Two-thirds of the Earth’s population perished.
The only thing the Kaveesh asked in return was to help save their dying race. Breeding programs began and the half-breeds were born.
Lirabel is a half-breed and an overachiever. Despite a few setbacks, she’s scheduled to graduate early from Mother Cora’s and become the Half-breed Ambassador to the Humans.
Enter Jonas. They were best friends until he broke her heart and disappeared five years ago. Now, he’s back, but Lirabel couldn’t care less. There are more important things to worry about…
Like finishing her last year of school and becoming ambassador. Or the half-bred students losing control of their Kaveesh strengths who are being sent into quarantine. Or how the breeding programs are still up and running.
And somehow, Jonas’ bittersweet return is connected to it all.
About the Author-
Tyffani Clark Kemp might be the quietest person in the room, but that just means she’s probably the biggest freak too. She is a multi-genre author with a gift for the written word and a desire to help all Indies reach their full potential. In 2012, she and her best friend Kimberly Fudge started SideStreet Cookie Publishing for authors who want to remain independent, but don’t have the time or the knowledge to do it all themselves. From the age of eleven she dedicated her life to writing and making sure she was good at her craft. Now, she passes that knowledge on to others. Her friends would describe her as determined and giving. She may be quiet, but she always has a story to tell.
