Hi all you Alexander Fans:
We are trying to set up a date for the next booksigning of Alexander. What day would you like? Would a Sat. be best? This will be held at the Hastings on 82nd.
Alexander's really cool artist pad had to move back home. That's ok, though. Now I get to go to work in my pj's. We will be on the lookout for another new pad. It might be in the country with lots of animals around. He already takes care of city chicks, 5 chihuahuas (Including Rosie Divine who went with him to the moon) and 3 cats. The newest kitty is still such a baby. We are fostering him till he gets better and can go back home.
In Alexander's newest story, about coming home from space, may have a new look. What would you suggest? I am going to be doing the artwork for the new book. Remember you can find books at the Odyssey, both Hastings book stores, Amazon.com, and Barnes and Noble.com.
We love you all!
Things seemed to calm down a bit after the initial release - which I wasn't ready for! I have discovered being an author and marketer takes a bit of brains, a lot of work, and of course it must be made to look easy. My marketer from Tate set up an interview with Karen Maines from Channel 11 here in Lubbock. The interview was to be for the noon notebook series. It took place on April 5th and I was so nervous I had no idea what I wore, what I said, or even how long we were on the air. We had two whole minutes. I have posted a link to the interview below:
Well, Alexander Graham Cracker is now nine months from it's official release date. So many things have happened and I have not kept up with the blog. Hold on, I'm fixin' to fill you in.
Nine months is the length of time to have a baby. I feel like that is exactly what I did. I had a baby. I conceived Alexander Graham Cracker, I nursed him along editing and finalizing. Then he was finished, born from the publishing company. And like a nervous Mom sending him out into the world for the first time, I've had jitters, doubts and moments of exhilaration.
Two of the most amazing moments that stood out took place when I gave the boys copies of their book. They wanted me to sign it for them and Benny said, "Wait, wait! I have a special pen." Boy did he ever. His pen said "I am so proud of you" I almost broke into tears!
Well, the next book is in the works - the second in the Alexander Graham Cracker Series. We are also going to offer felt aliens, t shirt and other things for sale off my Etsy store. I'll post more on that.
We had a fabulous time at ReJavanate Coffee Bar. They were even prepared for me! That was so nice. A table was already set up with a table cloth and everything. I put out all of our props. Cardinals sports store was having an outside sale and there were all sorts of things going on.
I had about 20 kids come through and have the book read and interact with our moon memorabilia. What I didn't know was my husband was at the door directing parents out of the heat to cool off with a story that was out of this world! He even got Cardials to announce on the intercom about our story time and signing as well as having it put out on the radio! He is a wonderful PR guy.
I only managed to get a few pictures but we had a great time.
I had an impromptu book reading this afternoon. I handed out some invitations to the books signing this weekend and we are also having a story time. Six little children came to my door to pet the dogs and wanted me to read the book. So we gathered on the swing outside and began reading. They immediately found all the aliens and three of them had to read the book to me.
We had a very interesting conversation about why the moon changes shapes and most of them thought it was aliens squashing the moon. So I already know that on our reading day we will have a small lesson about the waxing and waning of the moon. I need to borrow a telescope and make a trip to the science center before Sat.
It was fun and they want more stories on other days. I guess I'll read other books or make up some new stories. We had a good time.
We had a wonderful time at our book signing for Alexander Graham Cracker Goes to the Moon. My grand kids, Jacob and Benny showed up and my new friend Eddie Dixon came by and was my first customer of the day! Thanks Eddie! Benny read the book out loud and informed everyone that stopped by how much the books cost. It was a great time. United Market Street is a beautiful store and they were very gracious to us during the signing. Thanks everyone.
I have a new book signing on the schedule for Friday, June 15, 2012 at the Market St. on 98th and Quaker. We will be set up in the front by the florist and hopefully one of the first things that catch your eye as you come in the door!
I spent the evening designing the posters for the event. They are 22 x 28, the largest posters I've worked on to date. I think they look ok and will have them printed out tomorrow and take them to the store. They are going to be placed in the metal sign holders, two by the doors and one by my table.
Alexander Graham Cracker Goes to the Moon is now available on my Etsy store site. BearLakeBooks. Please take a look and see what you think. Feel free to order lots of copies. :-)
Pictures from today's first book signing at Good Brews Coffee and Tea Lounge. Everything looked great and everyone was very nice. Thanks to my husband for helping out.
This is a random question asked in the profile section. I thought it was absolutely appropriate considering the title and subject matter of my book!
I am going to add this to book marker tonight. Another night of design getting ready for the big event on Tuesday morning.
The books are in, both hard cover and the perfect binding - soft cover, bookmarkers and pushcards. The booksignings have been lining up and our first one is at Good Brews Coffee and Tea Lounge. It is located in Kingsgate Shopping Center on 82nd and Quaker. We will be there from 10 - 12. This is more than a booksigning! We have a storytime, pillows to sit upon on the stage, magnet boards and besides the fabulous Alexander Graham Cracker Goes to the Moon, I'll also read some of my favorite books. There will be a give-away prize for one child, and goodie bags for everyone.
Grand Son Benny went to get a special pen for me sign his book, It said, "I am proud of you |
