2. Teacher Gift: Sticky Note Gift with Free Tag Printable

We made these super easy and super useful gifts for the kids' teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week. They could just as easily be used for a beginning of the year or end of the year teacher gift. I picked up a bunch of sticky note blocks at my all time favorite Target.

Then all we had to do was trim out these cute tags and stick them onto the top of each block. Couldn't be easier.

Click HERE to download the printable tags page to use for your own teachers.

Print the page out onto card stock or heavy paper, cut tags out along blue lines, use double sided tape to attach the tags to your sticky note pads.

3. Teacher Appreciation Freebies: Coloring Page and Clip Art

I can not say enough how much I appreciate the teachers in my life. My children' teachers are amazing. I don't know how they do everything they do and make learning so much fun for my kiddos.

Don't forget to thank the teachers in your life every day, but especially during Teacher Appreciation Week (May 2 - May 6).

Here is a printable "I Love my Teacher" coloring page and for your little one to color and give to their teachers to show those hard working educators some love.

And you can grab this FREE "Best Teacher Ever" Mug Clip Art and Printable Card. I suggest that you pair the card with some chocolate. Almost everyone likes chocolate :)

4. Clip Art Set: April Icons and FREE Coloring Page

This post is a little late in coming. I got a bit distracted in packing for my beach vacation with the hubs. You can't blame me for getting a little excited, right?

Well, I'm back with more than a bit of a tan, a new clip art set, and a freebie butterfly coloring page.

But first, here are some obligatory photos from our trip to the beaches of Punta Cana.

I spent my quiet time doing some business planning and brainstorming (thanks to Kelli Alaina's "Get it Done with Grace" free business e-course http://bit.ly/FreeProductivityCourse) from this spot...

And this spot...

Most importantly I spent lots of quality time with this fellow...

So Happy April! Here is the latest addition to my Monthly Icons series. You can grab it in either my Teachers Pay Teachers or Educents stores for FREE through the month of April.

Don't forget to grab this super cute FREE butterfly coloring page, too! You can download this beauty HERE.

5. Clip Art Sets: Antonyms (Kids & Animals)

Newly released this week: Animal Antonyms and Antonyms & Opposites (Kid Style).

I seriously love how these all turned out. It may have taken me three weeks from sketch to finished color but it think it was all worth it.

And what I love most about the Animal Antonyms and the Antonyms & Opposites sets is that you can use them for SO much more than opposites and grammar studies. You could probably come up with a story for every duo, and then mix and match and come up with whole new ones. I know I sure did.

Like this fellow. I imagine him relaxing after a hard day in the pig stye. It's rough getting muddy, rummaging around the trough for those corn cobs and watermelon rinds! In fact, just after you're done checking him out he's planning on pouring himself a nice glass of red and cracking up a good book.

And these kids were SO much fun to do. To come up with each character I tried to imagine a situation  where they might be interacting, again, a perfect place to imagine a storyline. Each of these kids are so individual and strong on their own they could be used for many other projects.

When I created each look I drew upon people in my life. The boy "Standing" is based off of my brother with his jet black buzz cut and dramatic Eddie Munster hairline. The "Loud" girl is my daughter. No explanation needed. The "Short" boy's light tipped blonde hair is inspired by my son.

And to be honest, the "Happy" girl and the "Sad" boy were also inspired by the many emotional ups and downs of that four year old "strong willed" girl.

You can find these sets in my shops...

6. Clip Art Sets: St. Patrick's Day

I've just released three clip art sets with St. Patrick's Day in mind. Introducing...

St. Patrick's Day Leprechauns

This set contains two groups of Leprechauns. The first is a single leprechaun in four different positions. The second is a group of four different leprechauns in four different positions. I couldn't decide which would be the most useful to folks so I did them both!

Five different hand painted leprechauns? Can't go wrong with that! The set also includes a full pot of gold, an empty pot, half rainbow, full arc rainbow, and a handy money bag.

St. Patrick's Day Gold Coin Stacks

This set includes gold coins in stacks of 1 - 10. There are three different coin type: plain, shamrock, and four leaf clover. Each of these is shown as both front view and angled view. We have to count the leprechaun's money once we get ahold of it, right?

Four Leaf Clover Page Decor

This set features lucky four leaf clovers in corner graphics, full page borders, square borders, lines, single clovers, and a clover cluster. How could you not feel lucky after seeing these on your pages?

Find these three sets individually or as a discounted bundle in my Teachers pay Teachers and Educents shops. Click below to find them in your favorite marketplace.

9. A Valentine-a-Day: Day 3 Valentine Bookmark

This year the kids' teachers got cute bags with assorted chocolates and these super sweet bookmarks, complete with a thumbprint cherry on top.

There is a perfectly blank spot at the top of the cupcakes that is just the right size for a little fingerprint. So use your little one's finger to stamp a cherry with a red or pink ink pad. Each kid wrote their own names on the back along with the teacher's name. You could write a note right on the front in the space between the text and the cupcake.

I laminated the sheets of bookmarks with my handy laminating machine and then cut out each bookmark along the lines. You don't have to do this step, especially if you've printed them out of good heavy card stock, but I love the resiliency of a well laminated paper product.

ALTERNATIVE TO LAMINATING MACHINE: Packing Tape. I've been doing this FOREVER. Seriously. I used to laminate EVERYTHING in high school and college this way. Cut strips to packing tape larger than the length of the bookmarks. Lay them vertically along the columns of bookmarks on the single sheet of paper you've printed with a 1/8" overlap. Then do the same on the back. Be sure to cover past the edges of the bookmarks. Burnish (or rub the tape down hard) with the back of a spoon or something smooth with no sharp edges. Then trim them out along the lines just as you would if it was laminated out of a machine. BOOM!

You could punch a hole at the top and then thread a tassel or ribbon through for a little extra fun. We ran out of time (translation: I was up until 2 in the morning laminating and trimming so I had to cut corners somewhere). We packaged the bookmarks up in some heart decorated goodie bags with heart shaped chocolates. A perfectly simple, quick, and personal Valentine for a book lover or teacher in your life.

11. A Valentine-a-Day: Day 1

Valentine's Day is by far my favorite holiday. I love taking the opportunity to spoil my kids and husband with a little bit extra, well, love!

Last year I started the tradition of giving them all a special Valentine every day for the week leading up to Valentine's Day. Tomorrow the kids are getting these for snack...

"You're all that and a bag of Trix"

Now that General Mills is making Trix with no artificial flavors, colors or high fructose corn syrup I don't feel so bad giving them this super sugary but super colorful treat.

I'm using this Valentine for my kids, but it would work wonderfully for a not-so-mushy school and friends Valentine. In fact, you can download it for FREE only though my Educents store HERE.

I'm sharing it in my Educents store because, well, I love Educents, and because they're throwing a fun "Share the Love" promotion from February 7th through the 13th. They are giving away $200 in Educents Bucks, $50 worth of Scholastic books, and a Times Tale DVD.

You can enter to win by visiting one of the participating stores, making a purchase from one of those stores, and/or by sharing their shops and #EducentsLove through social media. Check out the Educents blog for more details.

So hurry up and grab my FREE printable Valentine's Day zip bag topper and give someone a little extra love this week.

12. FREE Valentine's Day Mini Coloring Book

This was a hit with my kids several years in a row so I'm sure it will be a hit with yours.

Here is my Valentine's Day Mini Coloring Book. Pair it with a little bundle of crayons and tie them in a cute cellophane bag and you've got a Valentine that will be enjoyed beyond the perforated licensed character cards.

Step 1. Print out the coloring book PDF on regular printer paper, or something a little heavier. Stay away from card stock for this one.

Step 2. Cut out each page along the solid lines.

Step 4. Stack them so that the pages line up and reverse the back cover so that the color is facing out.

Step 5. Staple along the left side of the pages.

Package your Valentine's Day Mini Coloring Book with a few crayons for a perfect Valentine for a friend.

Download the PDF HERE. It includes a page for full color printing and a page of black and white with no color on the cover for optimum printer ink and crayon usage.

14. Clip Art Set: Hot Mugs

Yet another late night that has resulted in another fun clip art set.

Here is how I felt this morning, with a little assistance from my orange friend...

Introducing the Hot Mugs clip art set!

I love making my sets have a DIY element to them. I think it's fun and lets folks get a little creative on their own. This set not only includes 8 super happy mugs but it also includes whipped cream, steam, a marshmallow cluster, and hanging tea bag tags.

Combine one or a few of these elements with the mug of your choice and create your perfect cup or Joe... or chocolate... or steamy tea.

You can grab the sets in my Teacher Pay Teacher shop and my Educent shop now.

And for a little fun here is a coloring page. Decorate your own mug and draw what you like to do to warm up after cold weather fun. Click HERE to download.

15. Nursery Name Art: Carter

I've been asked a few times to customize my "Lucy in the Sky" name art piece with a different little one's name. The piece was originally created for my college roommate (and massive Beatles fan) Erica and her adorable Lucy. I recently edited it for sweet Carter.

Carter's mom also asked me to create an entirely new piece to go with their soft nursery color scheme. This night sky piece came to me and I just loved doing it.

Of course I had to make it harder for myself by suspending the letters with string and with the shadowbox frame I was using I had to actually drill holes for the thread to run through inside the frame. I think it came out pretty sweet.

I put some loose confetti stars in the frame before I sealed it. I like the idea of part of the art always being different than how it was when I made it.

16. Clip Art Set: The Great Snowman Snowball Fight of 2016

While I'm not the biggest fan of snow and its cold icy properties, I do love me a cute, happy, and mischievous snowman or two. This latest set includes a group of frisky snow people having a bit of wintertime fun when the humans aren't around to see what they're missing out on.

This set includes full color AND black and white line art:
• 4 full size snowmen
• 3 peeking snowmen
• 3 snowball piles (small, medium, large)
• 2 flying snowballs
• 1 single snowball
• 2 snowball splat
• 1 "SPLAT" in drippy snow

I'm not sure who my favorite is but this guy is leading the pack for me.

You can grab these snowmen now in my shops: Teachers Pay Teachers & Educents

This set coordinates colors perfectly with my January Calendar Icons available for FREE during January ONLY in each of my shops.

17. Nursery Name Art: Chloe Rita

Man, this holiday season is really running me in circles! I'm sort of taking a step back from ye ole blog to get some personal projects done, like this one of my cousin's little one, Chloe.

You may remember the Thank You card I did for my cousin's shower back in the summer.

Well she asked me to do another piece for her with Chloe's name and how could I say no? My cousin has quite the collection of Vera Bradley bags and baby accessories so when this concept popped up when working on sketches I had to go with it.

I created the artwork, which on its own works great as a print, but I couldn't stop there. When I cut the matt for the frame I decided to add a few cut outs from an extra print. I used regular foam tape to add dimension and it provided just enough lift to the image and didn't get squashed by the glass.

Cute, right?

20. Clip Art Sets: New Digital Papers in the Shops

I'm finally busting out some digital papers!

I had a hard time deciding where to begin and keep the style and feel of the sets consistent to my brand. I've decided to treat my paper packs like coordinating patterns in a art package available for licensing.

SO I've started with two coordinating digital paper packs to go with my best selling Colorful Monster Clip Art. Each set contains 14 pages of 12 x 12 inch 300dpi digital paper with hand drawn watercolor textures.

Colorful Monsters Dots Paper Pack

and the third set works with my Norton the Bookworm Clip Art set: Bookworm and Books.

I'm ready to start a new set of digital paper. What do YOU think I should create next?

21. In Honor of Our Veterans

This week we celebrate and remember those who have fought for our country and the freedoms for which it stands for.

As a child my grandparents were very active in the local chapter of the V.F.W. and some of my family still is. My grandmother was always putting things together for the veterans and always had paper poppies on hand. This is probably part of the reason why poppies are my favorite flower.

So today I'm offering this Remembrance Poppy clip art piece for a free download and ask that you thank a veteran in your life.

I think I might print a few out on heavy card stock and attach them to a pin backing so that we can wear them on our coats like the ones my grandmother used to hand out.

Click on the image below to download this Remembrance Poppy in both full color and black and white line art.

My aunt is an active member of the Women's Auxilary of her chapter of the V.F.W.  She recently asked me to design the pin that commemorates her term as 2015-2016 Connecticut Department President of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. Obviously I was honored and jumped at the chance. Plus, it's super cool to see your design on something like a brass pin.

22. Clip Art Set: November Calendar Icons

I have released the November Calendar Icons set and it's free through the month of November.

My Calendar Icons series are designed with an open space on the surface of the main graphics so that you can write the number of the day and add it to your calendar. At my house we use them to create patterns within the month.

But don't let that how we use them limit you! Here are just a few more ideas...

Make a Memory Game
These icons would make a fantastic Memory game set. How about making a set to keep at the kids' table for Thanksgiving?

Make Food and Place Cards
Are you planning on making labels for the delicious foods you're serving at a Thanksgiving gathering? Try adding these icons to labels you display alongside the food at the buffet.

Use the same labels to make Thanksgiving place cards.

Decorate Tasty Goodies
Or add a little creative zip to your cupcakes by printing the icons out on card stock, cutting them out, and decorating.

You can grab this super useful November Clip Art set in my Teachers Pay Teachers and Educents stores.

23. DIY Baby Bumblebee Costume and {FREE Clip Art}

This year my littlest one was a Baby Bumble Bee for Halloween. Since she's just over a year I'm still able to have full creative control over her costume. Who knows what she'll want to be next year. Here's a quick rundown of how I created this cute sweatshirt costume and a bonus clip art freebie for those of you who stick through to the end of the post :)

Up here in New Hampshire Halloween night is always on the chilly side so I like to plan layers into the costumes. This Baby Bumble Bee costume started with a black hoodie sweatshirt and I paired it with black fleece lined leggings (not shown here).

For the Bumble Bee hoodie I used:
- black sweatshirt
- recycled golden yellow t-shirt from the college days
- contrasting thread for creating ruffles
- matching yellow thread for attaching them
- 1-1/2" sheer silver wired ribbon (also on hand in my scrap ribbon tub)
- handy dandy sewing machine

I cut across the bottom of the t-shirt to create 1-1/2" strips of material.

Then I ran the strips through the sewing machine using the basting ruffle technique, sewing about 1/4" from the top edge of the strip. There are a couple different ways you can ruffle easily. I Heart Nap Time has a nice post about the techniques. I ended up using the basting technique for most of them and the machine basting for the rest. The ruffle wasn't as dense as when I hand ruffled it but it worked for me.

I pinned and sewed strips of the ruffles across the front and back of the sweatshirt. I started at the shoulders so that there was a double width of ruffles right at the top (one facing forward and one facing back). I sewed right across the front pocket because whatever rocks she might be trying to sneak into my house were not going to be stashed away in this costume.

After sewing the ruffles I created a t-shirt pom pom using strips of the remaining material. Brit & Co. has a good visual of how to create t-shirt pom pons. I used fabric glue to adhere these to the hood of the sweatshirt.

To make the wings I dug up some sheer silver wired ribbon from my stash and loosely folded it on itself a couple of times. I tightly tied a thin ribbon across the middle to bunch it and then added some fabric glue to the thin ribbon to keep it from coming undone. To attach these new wings to the sweatshirt I used a safety pin just in case it was uncomfortable for the peanut.

I mean, seriously, could she be any cuter?

And just for hanging in with me all the way down the page, here is a FREE clip art graphic inspired by my little Baby Bumblebee. Click on the image below to download the ZIP file.
See you soon!

25. Flashback: Pencil Vs. Pencil

So I was browsing through my "Flashback" files tonight and this one struck me in particular. I have shared it here before but now I have an updated version of lively office supplies to compare it to.

I present "Pencil Power" vs. "Pencil Buddies"!

I designed the flashback set of characters for the cover our elementary school creative magazine, "Pencil Power". In 5th grade I was quite the budding illustrator.

The Pencil Buddies clip art set is available for FREE for a limited time in my Teachers Pay Teachers and Educents shops.
