You may visit Lauri's blog at Frog on a Blog and know me a little :) Thank you:

10. Ang Kahon + PIKO: Anthology of Comics for Children

Last year, I was invited by Josel Nicolas, a good friend and a fellow artist, to contribute for his project PIKO: an Anthology of Comics for Children published in the Philippines by Anino Comics, an imprint of Adarna House Publishing.  You can purchased PIKO online at Adarna House website.

And so I came up with Ang Kahon (The Box).  I already had the story in my mind for quite some time now.  Originally, Ang Kahon is a project I've been planning for a short cut-out paper animation like my old project called "When I was a Bata". Maybe next time. :)

Here is a film version of Ang Kahon. First shown on the night of Chamtamaria's 8th Reading Komiks (Anino edition) at Uno Morato, April 19, 2015. Since today is the initial release of PIKO plus it's Free Comic Book Day, I've decided to share this as well.

(Apologies for the bad audio. While editing this, my computer was dying on me.) I still think it's kinda weird hearing my voice doing the narration, specially when it is intentionally conceived as a silent comics. Nevertheless, hope you'll enjoy.

(Special thanks to: Josel Nicolas, Rob Cham, Carljoe Javier, Adam David, Anino Comics, Uno Morato, and to all the contributors)

11. Help for Nepal

The world is in mourning for all the citizens of Nepal due to Saturday's devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake. As of today, April 27, 2015, at least 4,400 people were confirmed dead and 8,000 injured. It is so sad that while nearly a million Nepalese children crucially need assistance, humanitarian workers say medical supplies are reported to be in short supply.

Below are some links where you can help:

13. Making Borderline Event No. 013015

Here's a bunch of images I took while making the new piece for Borderline. You may visit the BORDERLINE page to see the finished piece and some other more.

I usually start with a quick drawing on my 5 x 7 sketchbook.

Kneaded eraser is useful, not just for erasing but also for making small models whenever I needed one.

14. Pen Only Challenge

Tagged by my good pal and fellow artist, Mark Rosario,  for a Pen Only Challenge that went around Facebook. The rule is to draw something using only a pen. (NO pencils, NO erasures etc.)

So I did this. It is about a kid I used to know who told me she never had nightmares yet. Not until she turned 14, Mr. Nightmare finally caught her and became insomniac for the rest of her life.

19. Oscar Wilde's The Selfish Giant

This 1971 animation of Oscar Wilde's The Selfish Giant  is one of the films that got stuck in my head when I was a kid. My brother and I used to watch this all the time since the local television station kept on replaying it every morning along with The Happy Prince and The Remarkable Rocket.

It has so much influenced the way I tell my stories and how I actually draw my cartoons.

24. Lost Bunny (UPDATE)

The "Lost Bunny" found its sweet home. Its arrival was perfect just in time to say hello to Maarten's new born baby, Lola. Maarten said he'll hang the painting on the wall soon, but for now it has a playdate with Max and the Wild Things, which is actually perfect.

Again, Thank you Maarten  for supporting the Pinoy Komiks Anthology.

25. My Sketch Bag

Here are the stuff I bring when I go out the house.

• 9" x 10" Small Messenger Canvas Bag
• 7" x 2" Tin Pencil Case
• 3" x 2.25" Altoids Mint Cased Watercolor
• 5.5" x 8.5" Sketchbook
• iPod Classic
• and an ancient Cellular Phone
.

Inside the small Altoids Mints case is a #8 Round Grumbacher Brush, #2 Pencil, W&N Watercolor, and a piece of paper where I wrote down the colors of each box.  (very helpful for my colorblindness)

Inside my tin pencil box is a Pencil Sharpener, 0.20 mm Micron Pen, 0.5 Pentel Tech Pencil, and a Namiki Falcon Flexible Nib.
