I've been working on a painting based on a couple of old high school yearbooks.  The year is 1945-46.  I'm going to put the first names of each person beneath. It feels so wonderful to paint again.  I've always loved old photo's and have wanted to use them in my art in some way.  Each person seems to have a story to tell, so much feeling behind this for me.  The girl in the middle "Lois" is my mother.  She isn't with me anymore...I miss her.

I'm working on a couple of fun projects right now. Here are some girls I recently developed. Their style and attitude will be popping up somewhere.

Recieved my copy yesterday in the mail of a story I illustrated last year.  So cute...a book about a girl's first trip to sleepaway camp.
I love the way the colors look!  Here is the cover and a sampling of the chapter headers.

I always enjoy seeing other artist's sketches and hearing about their working process.  Mine is fairly simple. I start by sketching rough ideas with a soft pencil on tracing paper. Once I get a few I like, I do a little tighter trace with a fine sharpie.  Once the sketch is approved I scan it and fill in the color in Photoshop.  I like to make patterns and save them to use in clothing, floors, walls, etc. That's it...pretty darn simple.

I've decided since Halloween is almost here....to go a little creepy.

Here are the latest illustrations for the embarrassing moments and health and beauty sections of Discovery Girls Magazine. It's fun illustrating those feelings of awkwardness we all had in adolescence. Being a girl myself and raising a daughter, I can relate!

Not to long ago I did some really cute line drawings to be used in a fashion flip-book. The girls are left black and white to be colored in by little hands. The pages can be flipped to make all kinds of funny combos. This is just a sampling.

Here are some cute illustrations that I did for Girl Guiding UK.  These will be in their Brownie Annual next year.  The girls in the star formation will be on the cover!  The characters on the cover will also be placed throughout the book.
