i’m working on creating a black and white portfolio. slowly but surely… this image just happens to be creepy, not something I do often :]
this is a painting of my favorite dog, Peewee. He unfortunately passed away a couple weeks ago. I miss him, but there was something comforting about painting him with sunflowers :]
I went on a roadtrip down the west coast with friends. it was really amazing! here’s some images from my sketchbook:
For the past year, I’ve been a part-time art teacher at a public elementary school in Brooklyn. This is my last week with my wonderful 1st through 5th grade students. I’m really going to miss them, so I made them a coloring page as a goodbye gift:
I always encourage my students to use their imagination and do more than color in the lines, but this week I gave the freedom to free-draw and/or color this in. Here’s some 3rd grade work:
I’m participating in the Storefront Art Walk in Bay Ridge. I chose Jean Danet on 76 Street and 5th avenue, with long windows. Here’s a map of the Art Walk and some photos below:
Since the storefront I chose is a great bakery and I’m sticking to my new-painting-a-month-resolution, I created three pastry-inspired paintings:
It’s up for one month, go check it out (and get dessert)!
My monthly painting for April was created for Hops for Hope, a fundraising event benefiting Japan. All of the proceeds will go to MercyCorps, partnered with Peace Winds. It’s this Wednesday, come if you can! Below is the flyer and the mixed media piece I created:
M is magenta and mushy with a magnificent mustache covering it’s mouth.
This image is part of a new children’s book dummy I’m working on.
i’m in the process of designing an alphabet for a toy company.
here are some random letters:
i’ve had this idea floating around in my head for a while now :]
I did the illustration in this poster for a play coming up
I was interviewed by a Korean blogger and friend last week! Here’s the article: http://micon.miclub.com/board/viewArticle.do?artiNo=81771588&listCateNo=900&listPage=1
If you can read Korean, check it out! Or if you can’t read Korean (like me), here are some of the picutres taken of my studio space. Also, please vote for the article by clicking on the white box (with the orange # in it) towards the bottom of the page. Thanks!
I am super excited to announce that my second children’s book is being published! The title of the book is Tilly Takes A Try here’s the blurb:
Tilly is seven years old and she always dreads the first day of everything! She doesn’t like new situations or new people, but Tilly’s too big to hide behind a grown-up any more, or under her blanket. Things change for her during the first meeting of a new karate class.
I worked with the author Gail Noppe-Brandon, founder of Find Your Voice, to create this wonderful book. I will provide a link to purchase Tilly Takes A Try soon, for now here are some images:

this is the second finished spread from my proposal. monsters are so much fun, I kind of want one…
this is really an image from my new children’s book proposal. but when i saw the topic for illustration friday this week, i realized this could be an interesting twist :]
I have a new piece on display this month at Charmingwall gallery. Here it is:
i love making thank you cards with random collage material. if you’re really awesome and help me out, this is what you’ll find in your mailbox.
I designed a logo for my friends physical therapy practice. She works with kids, so we decided to make it fun =]
I was commissioned to create a ginormous (5 feet by 2 feet) painting. I looked at art nouveau patterns and japanese block prints for inspiration. I love commissions! I’ll be working on a couple more this summer…
There’s not a dog I know that can fight a good fire hydrant! Lol! Great illustration!

Most dogs can definitely relate. Nice!
Hahaha.. this is great!
