As the extremely lucky RWA attendee who won the bag and tag, I'd like to say ... Thank you so much! Both items came in the mail last week and were oohed and aahed over by my teenage daughters, who promptly had to be threatened in order to keep my new treasures in my possession. You know you’ve got something cool when the too-cynical-for-words teens in your life Want It.

The butterfly is a personal motif, so winning had extra significance for me (I won’t bore you with the details). Accordingly, the lovely tag immediately went on the bag in which I carry around my current writing project(s), and the beautiful bag was stuffed with books and taken to the beach the very next day, where it received many compliments. We just returned yesterday, so this is my first opportunity to drop by your site and say thanks.

It's really, really hard to pick the most bestest romantic scene of all time. Right now, I'd choose the last scene in the BBC production of North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell (not the US miniseries about the civil war, though that was good too)

The way he looks at her while she's trying to spit out the business proposition. He's so utterly enchanted with her, and his heart is so full of hope. *sigh*

What is it about the English man that is so appealing do you think?

She LOVES Colin Firth. And oh, I was with her when she cried at Mama Mia. All I can say is wow. Just wow. :)

Gwen - You're the second person to tell me how good North and South is. I can't seem to find it, although I looked for it on iTunes the other day.

And Colin Firth...sigh. Daniel Craig is right up there, too!

I watched North and South on Netflix "watch instantly". I'm going to buy it now, though.

North and South was wonderful! But my favorite romantic scene is from An Officer and a Gentleman with Richard Gere and Debra Winger. It's the ending of the movie when he realizes he loves her and goes into the paper factory where she works and carries he out with all her co workers applauding. Yup, that gives me a little lump in my throat every time I watch it. :)

Good one! Colin Firth is wonderful, so good at conveying deep emotions with very few lines. And I'm an easy crier, too--I cried during the second Terminator movie, when Arnold lowers himself into...hot...melting...metal *sob!*

Yikes! My must have book list is ever growing... So I read Red Kiss and it was sooo good. I am so interested in all the seeds of love you have planted. Thankfully July is a slow month for the new releases i am interested in so I am going to gobble up your Parallel series and check out Miss Monroe. Ms. Knight who will be next? Leonidas,Nikos,Aristos,or Sable? Or maybe you plan to tease them further and go for Straton or Kalias instead.If I had a vote (which i know i don't)I am all about Sable. *purrs like a kitten* He is so in need of the mercy of love. Aw, thanks for the memory. Alas, I was a wee bit older than you...ahem. And I'm not a bad boy fan. I was fully, totally, mind-numbingly in love with Luke Skywalker. Ah. When he stares at the twin moons longingly...well, I wanted to stare at his twin moons longingly.

Been thinking a lot about these slow-buildup romance scenes in movies and TV (sometimes whole seasons). Why do people expect sex at page 30 to be as fulfilling when there isn't a build-up like this clip? Kinda off topic, but you know what I mean?

That's my favorite movie kiss too! And then my other favorite romantic moment was when Han is lowered into the carbonite freezing chamber and Leia says she loves and he says "I know". Then he's going down into the pit and giving her this look of beautiful desperate love--it still makes my heart flip-flop!!!

Oh Han, whatever would we geeky girls do without you? Han was definitely one of my teenage crushes. I didn't even give Luke a second glance. Gotta love the rogues and rakes, they make a girl's heart flutter so.

Oh, I loved watching that scene again! It's been too long...sigh. :)

That's a fun movie and a great speech. I think my fave scene is Darcy's declaration of love to Elizabeth in BBC Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth. Love that.

Great scene! I haven't seen this movie in forever. I think it's time to revisit :). Besides, I always L-O-V-E Susan Sarandon in absolutely anything. I think by the time this film fest is over, I am going to have a whole lot of movies to watch/re-watch.

Oh, Kwana, that is such a great scene too. So many to chose from...

Oh, what a perfect, brilliant choice, dear friend. You know, i saw this movie in the theater in one of my most magical summers of my life (started dating Jud!) I can remember exactly where I saw it, who I saw it with...and how much I loved it the VERY first time.
One of my fave things in this movie is something in the "background", i.e. the production design. I actually worked with Peter Jamison, the man who did it for Bull DUrham on a movie a couple of years later. We were on Sudie and Simpson together, another southern movie with a similar design and feel..anyway, long before meeting him, one of my fave things about BD was that "mood". That southern, sleepy, almost old fashioned/another time quality you get. That's b/c of his great set design--the way her house looks, the furnishings, the mood. GREAT choice.

Yeah, I absolutely LOVE this scene. I only wish I had written it!

Oh, Maria, that Bull Durham scene is a classic... I can't really narrow it down to one, but since Kwana already called P&P (LOVE it, of course!!), I'll say the final scene of The Cutting Edge. :)
