27. Father Duck’s “Valenswine”

fatherduck

In his Junior year attending Rhyming UniNursery, Father Duck met an enchanting pig named Katrina. He immediately fell in love. Following is a poem and illustration Father Duck created for a valentine to win the heart of his divine swine.

Valenswine

Father Duck and his beloved Katrina

Valenswine

by Father Duck

The rose is red, the violet’s blue,
The skunk doth stink, and so do you.
I’ll plug my nose, if you’ll be mine
Won’t thou be my Valenswine?

Thy pudgy face, it’s got me shaken,
Thou art so hot, you should be bacon.
I’ll love you forever, my dear pork rind,
Won’t thou be my Valenswine?

Sadly, Katrina squealed and waddled wee wee wee wee all the way home, leaving Father Duck heart broken. He never saw her again and was left wondering “where did I go wrong?”

28. Father Duck’s “Bob Be Hungry”

fatherduck

Oh Bob. You and your breathe. Bob, one of Father Duck’s classmates at Rhyming Uninursery, had a strange hunger for onions. Father Duck wrote this poem in hopes that Bob would take note and fix his problem. Mother Goose would later steal his idea, adapting it for Jack Be Nimble.

Bob Be Hungry

Bob Be Hungry

Bob Be Hungry

By Father Duck

Bob be hungry,
Bob be dense,
Bob ate onions
And now needs mints.

30. Father Duck’s “Larry had a Giant Pig”

fatherduck

Before there was Mary and her little lamb, Father Duck told the tale of Larry, and his giant pig. A cautionary tale of the dangers of taking your pet pig to school.

Larry had a Giant Pig

Larry riding his pig.

Larry Had a Giant Pig

By Father Duck

Larry had a giant pig,
Its butt was fat and wide;
And everywhere that Larry went,
The pig gave him a ride.

He rode him to school one day,
Which wasn’t very cool.
For when he went to lunch.
They fed him to the school.

33. The return of the Duck

Been a while. Have not updated my blog since the birth of my baby boy, Benjamin, which was 6 months ago. With the added responsibility, had to make sacrifices and unfortunately, this is where I made them. Things seem to be slowly normalizing though and I thought it was time I made my return. I will be sharing some of the projects I have been working on over the past 6 months….lots to share.

In the future, I plan to use this blog as a sketch book. Expect to see lots more of my thought process, poetry, work and family in the near future. To start with, below is an illustration I’m working on for submission to a magazine. This is the first rough draft. Hope to bring it to life in the next few days. It is based off of a quote I came up with:

“It’s OK to be a one trick pony if your one trick is jumping through a flaming hoop on a motorcycle.”

It's OK to be a one trick pony if your one trick is jumping through a hoop of fire on a motorcycle.

It's OK to be a one trick pony if your one trick is jumping through a flaming hoop on a motorcycle.

Thanks for your patience. Lots more to come.

39. Current Projects: Jimmy and the Crow

I am currently working on illustrations for the book Jimmy and the Crow by Christine Stanley. This will be Christine’s first children’s book and it’s a wonderful story. I’ve had a blast with the illustrations so far and Christine has been amazingly receptive and great to work with. I look forward to seeing the final product.

Following are two samples of the artwork for her book.

Come Take a Swim in My Pond - Lyrics

Under my feathers you’ll see
You’re the only hen for me
I want to kiss you upon the bill
That would be coolio
Sometimes I wish you would. Fly away with me
But it’s only a dream
But I wish you would. So Bad. Baby

Come take a swim in my pond
(that would be coolio)
You’re looks are just like a wand
(They cast a spell on me)

Don’t worry if you. Can’t float
I have those blow up ring things
I’ll blow one up. For you
Then you will float. Coolio
Sometimes I wish you would
Dive for fish. so I could see your tail feathers
But I wish you would. So bad. Baby
You better come take a swim in my pond.

Come take a swim in my pond
(that would be coolio)
You’re looks are just like a wand
(They cast a spell on me)

45. Newest Website: Fray Baby Bibs and More

I’m proud to have finished Duck of All Trade’s newest website FrayBabyBibsandMore.com ran by the amazingly talented seamstress, Liz Davis. Liz’s site features her sewing handy work, a blog, a photo gallery, an online store and so much more. Her work is well worth checking out. It is built on the CMS platform Joomla. Joomla is a great program because it allows me to create amazing sites and then turn them over to my clients so they can act as their own web master. It’s like creating a Ferrari and then turning the keys over for client to drive. If you are interested in having a site built for yourself, you can email me at: [email protected]. 48. Just for Fun Friday: Three Ducks on a Bus

fatherduck

Going against all logic, The Tone Deaf Ducks once set out on tour. Father duck wrote the following poem about their adventures. When asked about Mother Goose’s Nursery Rhyme Rub-a-dub-dub being a rip off of this poem, Father Duck simply replied “I can’t blame her for changing the words. After all, I would rather be with three men in a tub than with three Tone Deaf Ducks on a bus.”

Three Ducks on a Bus

By Father Duck

Gus-a-fuss-fuss,
Three ducks on a bus;
And who do you think they be?
Marty, and Jose,
And Bob are on their way;
Tone Deaf Ducks all three!

Gus-a-fuss-fuss,
Three ducks on a bus;
Where are they on their way to?
They’re going on tour.
Why? I’m not sure.
They sing like the stink of a shoe.
