1. Mahatma Gandhi Biography, Lifetime Searching for the Truth

Mahatma Gandhi Biography, Lifetime Searching for the Truth

Mahatma Gandhi Biography - Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born in 1869 He was born in Gujarat, India, and lived several years in England and South Africa. He returned to India from South Africa to join the Liberation Movement against the British rulers.

Gandhi was a very live the life that he lived. At every opportunity, he was always searching for answers to many questions in various fields. He named his autobiography with "My experience of the Truth". In fact, he spent a lifetime searching for the truth and keep trying to find an answer.

He started his career as a lawyer in South Africa. One time, during a trip on the train to Pretoria, she was asked to leave the class passenger seat that attaches even though he had paid the ticket. White train conductor who was sarcastically said that in addition to white people are not allowed to occupy the main class seats. But Gandhi refused and insisted on occupying the seat he had paid it. Because of this refusal, the conductor lowers Gandhi at a small station.

It is said that one of the events which then makes it always striving for justice. He always pointed out that we can fight injustice without violence. During the Mahatma Gandhi in South Africa began to develop his idea called Ahimsa or non-violence and teach the people of India who live there how to apply Ahimsa to address the injustices they experienced. The method is also known as passive resistance or anti-cooperate with those who do injustice. Gandhi believes, by refusing to cooperate, the person will eventually realize his mistake and then stop the attitude is not fair.

Gandhi succeeded in doing various businesses in South Africa. However, the time does come he must return to India is emerging by the various liberation movements of the British Rulers. He already felt a duty to join and contribute to an ideal of "Indian Independence". Gandhi appealed to his followers in India to implement the teachings of Ahimsa and shows how these teachings can be part of India's freedom struggle.

While the movement continues to progress, Gandhi continued the search for truth and to design appropriate strategies to deal with the enemy. He called it Satyagraha - Truth Enforcement. Gandhi believes that by seeing the suffering of someone who uphold the truth will make an impact and will touch the conscience of the enemy. Satyagraha then run widely and effectively in the struggle for independence. This struggle eventually reach a point where the UK could not survive against the thousands of people who menetangnya, peaceful protest demanding independence. Gandhi assured to every effort and struggle waged by those who tutored him in the running of Satyagraha, and because this is the teaching and training Satyagraha struggle to bring results.

Mahatma Gandhi was able to watch the Indian independence from the British, but he was very sad to witness the conflict between Muslims and Hindus, as well as to the thousands of people who became victims of the Partition of India and Pakistan. His belief in the Brotherhood of Mankind (The Brotherhood of Man) remains unshaken even though India is now separated into India with a secular Hindu majority, and Pakistan with a Muslim majority society, which is then also divided into East Pakistan and West Pakistan. At the end of his life mourning the teachings of Gandhi's Satyagraha was unable to prevent his hatred between Hindus and Muslims which resulted in the splitting of India. In 1948, Gandhi was killed in a house of worship by a Hindu fanatic who does not agree with the understanding of The Brotherhood of Man lead.

Mahatma Gandhi Biography very inspiring, right?

5. The Monsterjunkies; An American Family Odyssey

TITLE: The Monsterjunkies; An American Family Odyssey (December 11, 2012)

PUBLISHER: Arkwatch http://www.arkwatch.com
FORMATS: Paperback, Kindle, Nook

PRICE: Paperback $9.69 (Amazon), $9.99 (Barnes and Noble), $7.99 (Kindle and Nook)

What is the secret of MJ Manor? Most people in this small Maine town say that monsters are harbored there. Even the mailmen draw straws on who delivers the mail because of the “thing in the mailbox.”

Twelve – year – old Crow wants to use his nickname at home not his given name, Cromwell. His older sister, Indigo, desperately wants to be accepted for who she is and to be more social. Both want their parents to let their friends to visit their home, MJ Manor.

Together with their small group of friends, Indigo and Crow face discrimination and bullying at the hands of Rutherford Grimes III. Rutherford believes that since his father is “nouveau riche,” he and his gang of thugs can get away with anything. Worst, his father thinks so too.

This book is so relatable. It shows us that we all wear masks to hide who we really are. Whether deep inside we are scared little children, naturalists, a person of a different sexual tendency or just curious people who wish to learn about anything and everything. When you read “The Monsterjunkies; An American Family Oddesy you’re to be sure to recognize yourself or someone you know in this book.

I fully enjoyed reading this book. Not only does it teach tolerance and standing up to bullies but it also teaches respect for all creatures (human, animal, or plant).

I recommend that you get your own copy of “The Monsterjunkies; An American Family Odyssey” today. You will be able to order one in print or in kindle at http://www.amazon.com. If you prefer, you can order yourself a copy at http://www.barnesandnoble.com. 6. The Monsterjunkies; An American Family Odyssey

Today we’re talking with Erik Shein, author of the new
young adult novel The Monsterjunkies; an American Family Odyssey. Welcome to The Bumpy Road To Writing For Children, Erik!

Will you tell us about The Monsterjunkies; an American Family Odyssey?    Sure! Tucked away in a remote cul – de - sac on the Maine coast is a place where the strange is normal, and the bizarre, is everyday. This is a place, where, if you do not have an open mind, you will lose your mind in its reality and truths.
Residing at this place, twelve year old Crow and his fourteen year old sister, Indigo , along with their friends go down a reality curve to arrive at the harsh truth of the indelible hurt bullying, emotional abuse, and prejudice can foster. The family faces ignorance combined with aggression at every step as they try to build a life for themselves in the home of their ancestors.
Kids will recognize at least one character from The Monsterjunkies; an American Family Odyssey, whether it’s the main character, much maligned Cromwell, his sister  the well-arranged Indigo, or the bully-master himself, Rutherford J. Grimes III. Cromwell or Crow, as he prefers to be called, finds a way to deal with the bullying. He meets it head-on in a unique combination of smarts and one-upmanship. Indigo, too, must find a way to have friends over without sacrificing her family’s desire and need for privacy. Why the overly espoused need for privacy? It is the very estate itself and its unusual set of inhabitants that provides the ticket for Crow’s acceptance.
Some students may be able find solutions to their bullying problems at home, talking to family; perhaps, a family member has experienced bullying in his or her younger years. Or there may be some other suggestion that can provide material for a solution. School counselors are also a good avenue for help. Students who experience bullying at any level should contact school councilors and/or administrators immediately. It is their desire to end bullying as much as the students. They must be given a chance to help and that chance begins by being notified.

Why do your main characters always wear dark clothes?  I love the gothic look.

The Monsterjunkies live in an awesome place. Why do they keep it secret and never have anyone over? I hope this question isn’t a spoiler! Great  question, because there are so many oddities it’s good to keep them safe,   from the outside world, only  people with an open mind go to MJ Manor.

I just loved when Crow and his buddies confronted the bully on behalf of a friend of theirs. Would you advise all kids to stand up to bullies with their friends around them?  It’s all  about  believing  in yourself.  Bullies prey on fear, if  you believe in yourself  the fear will be diminished.

I realize that your book is to bring understanding to all animals. Indigo and Crow’s friends seem to learn understanding by learning about the monsters at MJ Manor. Did you intend to write humanitariasm into the book?  The  kids today deal with people that wear masks, so they, most of the them, at least, relate to those with whom they have something  in common.  When I  was a kid, I related to animals  more than  people.

Can we look forward to another Monsterjunkies book in the future? I think that another book would be ideal! It would answer the unanswered questions like: What happens with those investigations and what becomes of everyone including the Monsterjunkies? I think this would make a great book series! Yes, I will start  writing  again  this  summer. My plan is to do a series.

Where can we find out more about you and The Monsterjunkies an American Odyssey? Do you have a website or can do you have a fan page on Facebook? Are you on Twitter? Yes, I have a website. 7. Gabriela and The Widow

TITLE: Gabriela and The Widow
AUTHOR: Jack Remick
PUBLISHER: Coffeetown Press  http://www.coffeetownpress.com
FORMATS: Paperback, Kindle
PAGES: 280
PRICE: Paperback - $14.95, Kindle - $6.95
FILE SIZE: 698 KB
ISBN – 10: 1603811478
ISBN – 13: 9781603811477
ASIN: B00AYQ5582

Gabriela and The Widow is a different story about growing up. It’s about Gabriela, whose village is raided and loses her mother when she’s just thirteen years old. She has no family left due to this brutal massacre. Who will help her grow into a woman?
After the massacre, Gabriela’s journey through life begins. Walking to the nearest village, her mother dies in the Mexican jungle. Gabriela has to bury her along the side of the footpath, and then continues on the arduous journey. When she arrives, she finds herself a LaPatrona and is nothing more than a slave. The LaPatrona makes a deal with the Scarfaced Man to sell her for sex. Somehow, Gabriela escapes this but her fate in life seems to get worse and worse…until she starts to work for The Widow.

The Widow is a dying ninety – two year old woman named La Viuda and Gabriela is her caretaker. Not only does Gabriela do all the cooking, cleaning and the personal care for La Viuda, she works daily with La Viuda on The List. But La Viuda is kind to her. Something that Gabriela hasn’t known since her parents were alive.

The List is a fascinating journey through La Viuda’s life and she wants it written up before her death. Day after day, Gabriela compiles boxes of slips of paper, photographs, coins, letters and more. She listens to La Viuda’s stories about each object and writes the story down. Slowly, Gabriela gets the list written in proper order. In the process, La Viuda teaches her to be a woman and soon the two are one.
This recently published book (January 15, 2013) fascinated me with all the detail written in the book. The seamless mixing of Spanish and English helped bring this young adult book to life! Even though Gabriela and The Widow starts when Gabriela is thirteen years old, I wouldn’t recommend this book for that age since the real story starts when she’s nineteen years old.

You can find out more about the author, Jack Remick, and Gabriela and The Widow at his website at http://www.jackremick.com. Mr. Remick also has a Facebook fanpage at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Jack-Remick/229527143752712?bookmark_t=page.

8. The Blessings Jar

This December a photo of a jar with pieces of paper in it came down my newsfeed on Facebook. A friend of mine sent it to me and Suzie’s Daily Quotes brought it to us originally. The idea of this, I think, is a good one! Every time something good happens in your life, you write it down on some paper and drop it in the jar. You can do this as you want to. Do it daily, weekly, or monthly.
At the end of the year, you empty out the jar and read what has happened in the past year of the good things that’ve happened in your life over the year. I’m definitely going to do this! I’m going to call mine the blessings jar. Of course, I probably won’t use a jar like the picture shows. I have a lot of those plastic food storage containers so I might use one of them. I could even use a brown lunch bag. I always have plenty of these on hand!
You can also apply this idea to your writing. All you have to do is get a container of your choice. It really doesn’t matter what it is at all. Everytime you have an idea for a children’s article, story or children’s book, get your notepad and write that idea down and drop it into your container. This idea was originally taught to me years ago by Lee Wyndham in her book Writing For Children and Teenagers. I had forgotten all about this idea and sure wish I hadn’t. It’s a good one! You’re never at a loss for ideas as long as you have your Idea Jar (or container of choice).
Maybe some of you are already doing this for PiMoIdMo. This would be a great way to record your ideas for that month. But why gather your ideas for writing for children for just one month?

10. If I Could Be Like Jennifer Taylor

TITLE: If I Could Be Like Jennifer Taylor

FORMATS: Paperback, ebook
PAGES: 186
FILE SIZE: 359 KB
ISBN-10: 1927085926
ISBN-13: 9781927085929
ASIN: B005NWRLL6

Fourteen – year – old Carolyn Samuels is sick and tired of being bullied. At the same time, she’d give anything to be like her bully, Jennifer Taylor. Why? Jennifer is everything that Carolyn isn’t. She’s popular, pretty, wears the latest fashions and is thin. Boy’s flock around Jennifer. She’s actually been out on a real date!

Middle school ends and high school begins. Carolyn is sure this year is going to be just as miserable as last year. She’s sure that this will be another lousy year with Jennifer constantly laughing and harassing Carolyn about her breathing problem. Carolyn’s fears are confirmed when she’s partnered with Jennifer by the math teacher to do a project. Or are they?

Working together starts out like Carolyn expects. Jennifer is just as snotty to her as she was in middle school. Suddenly, Jennifer is giving her clothes, taking her home, inviting her to dinner. What’s going on?

I loved this book. Not only did it bring back many memories for myself but it shows that some bullies (I don’t imagine all) have deep problems of their own. The author, Barbara Ehrentreu, did an excellent job of showing this. She painted an excellent portrait of a poor little rich girl who’s own parents don’t know her at all. Believe me, the previous sentence isn’t a spoiler at all. You have to read the book to find out what’s going on!

To learn more about Barbara Ehrentreu and learn more about If I Could Be Like Jennifer Taylor just visit her website at http://barbaraehrentreu.blogspot.com. You can also visit the publisher’s website at http://museituppublishing.com/bookstore2/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=203&category_id=6&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1, learn more about and order the book.

You can also order it in a few other places. You can order it in Kindle or paperback at http://www.amazon.com/If-Could-Like-Jennifer-Taylor/dp/1927085926/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1353882439&sr=8-1&keywords=if+i+could+be+like+jennifer+tayloror you get pick yourself up a copy at Barnes and Nobles.

This book will make a great Christmas present for any teenage girl!

What is a twig? They’re tiny stick – like creatures no taller than a blade of grass. Where do they live? They live in the knotholes of trees. What’s that you ask? Are they brave? They sure are! Especially, one young twig named Leaf of the Old Seeder twigs.

When the glacier melts, a flood destroys Leafs old forest home. It knocks down Old Seeder, trapping Pappo, Mummo, and Leaf’s brothers and sister inside their knothole. It’s up to Leaf to rescue them. Along with his adventurous friend, Rustle, Leaf journeys far and wide to find Slapper the Beaver. He knows how to help Leaf’s family. But will Slapper agree to help?

I loved Leaf and The Rushing Waters. It’s a perfect book that shows young readers how climate changes affect the nature around us. In my humble opinion this would make a great animated family movie!

12. PiBoIdMo

Why should the novel writers have all the fun with NaNoWriMo? In the past several years, a new kid has come to town for us writers of children called PiBoIdMo! What's that you say? What is PiBoIdMo?

Like I said, PiBoIdMo is just for us children's writers. It's an acronym for Picture Book Idea Month. In other words you come up with one idea, title or plot for every day in the month of November. You don't have to write a picture book manuscript in November but if the spirit moves you, go right ahead. There aren't any hard and fast rules for this. The idea for PiBoIdMo was dreamt up and came to reality by picture book author, Tara Lazar.

So, if you'd like to learn more about participating in PiBoIdMo, just visit Tara's site or you can visit the page on her site with all the rules (believe me, there aren't many at all). Register there for PiBoIdMo and let your ideas flow!

13. The Work - In - Progress - Blog Hop (or an interview with myself)

Hi! We're going to have a different kind of blog post today. I'm going to interview myself about my current work - in - progress! First things first, I have to thank Ilil Arbel for nominating me to do this. You can check out Ilil's website at: http://www.ililarbel.weebly.com/1/post/2012/10/work-in-progress-blog-hop.html.

When Ilil stopped by to tell me about this, she gave me two rules. Rule number one: Answer all ten questions about you work - in - progress. Rule number two: Nominate five other writer friends who you know that have blogs or websites so they can join in the fun!

Now on to the questions:

What is the title to your work - in - progress? The title is a working title right now and it's called Obey.

Where did the idea for your book come from? The idea for this book actually came from two different sources. One of my nieces gave me the initial idea. I just combined that with my own experiences.

What genre does your book fall under? Children's fiction.

What actors would you choose to play the characters in the movie rendition? Oh, this is a tough one! This is something to think about. I've been told that visualizing who might play movie versions helps in writing the story. So far, I've been just visualizing the characters. But right now I don't have the answer to your question.

What is the synopsis of your book in one sentence? Here goes. Without giving anything away it's: Allie moves to unchartered territory.

What other book would you compare this work - in - progress to in your genre? Karen's Big Move by Ann M. Martin. It's part of the Little Sisters series #96.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript? This is another tough question. This book has twisted, turned and taken me in so many directions that this is hard to answer! Let's just say it's taken a long time.

Will this book be self - published or represented by an agency? I hope it'll be represented by an agency!

What inspired you to write this book? Well, this question goes back to question two but I'd have to say my niece and my own memories.

What else about your book might pique your readers interest? Well, you'll have to read the book to find out the answer to that!

Now, it's time to announce the five people I've nominated. May I have the envelope, please? Here they are in no particular order:

Susanne Drazic
Rena Jones
Allyn Stotz
Janet Smart
Betty Dravis

Twelve – year – old Vin has a major problem. His older sister, Meg, has a big crush on Brad Stewart and she wants Vin to introduce them! Meg has even written a dorky duet for her and Brad to play at the music festival. How in the world can Vin get Brad to agree to this? He doesn’t even know this guy. Vin doesn’t want to do this at all but his sister knows his weakness. His bossy sister promises him an autographed David Beckham soccer jersey if he introduces her to Brad by Saturday. Vin REALLY wants that jersey but how will he accomplish this impossible mission? He doesn’t even know this guy and he’s certainly not friends with Brad’s brother, Eyeballs.

Unfortunately, Vin does have to make friends with the nerdy Eyeballs. From there things get worse and worse. The things a guy has to do to get a David Beckham autographed jersey. He has to walk Gran – grans dog that can only make right – hand turns, winds up in a compost heap, then battles a man – eating bubble bath and drives a car that has a mind of its own.

I enjoyed this book by Maggie Lyons. Vin and the Dorky Duet is one comical mis – adventure after another.

15. Writing for Children Live

Thank you so very much to Deb Hockenberry for allowing me to be a guest blogger this week on her blog!  I, like most of you, am an aspiring children's book author and follower of this great blog, so I'm thrilled to have the chance to be a part of it this week...

So this is me, Kim Taylor-DiLeva....

and if you are, or ever have been, an aspiring children’s book author, then also like me, you’ve had times when you’ve either been closed out of great conferences, had to travel great distances to hear from experts in the field, or spent a lot of money on fees and travel.

I was a frustrated, but very motivated, aspiring children’s book author, who decided to do something about it.  Having been an aspiring children’s book author for a very long time (on and off for 12 years - excuses being having children, changing careers a few times, etc.) and having made the decision to finally devote my free time and career to doing what I really loved (writing for children), I needed education and training from the best, experienced children’s book authors available.  So in an effort to help other aspiring, frustrated, and motivated aspiring children’s book authors (and myself), I began Writing for Children Live.

Writing for Children Live is a website where you can learn from the best experts in the field of writing childrens' books, from the comfort of your own home, through FREE, LIVE teleconference calls and webinars.  No fees, no travel.  You can listen in on your phone or via your computer.  If for some reason you can't make the call or webinar at the time and date it is scheduled for, there is no need to worry.  A replay of the call/webinar will be made available for your convenience FREE for 24 hours following the live call. So no getting closed out, either.

If you miss the replay of your favorite, author, agent or publisher, or if you heard the call, but wish you could hear it again, and again, for all of the great information and tips, all calls will be made available to purchase on an MP3 download (after the 24 hour free replay).  All webinars will also be available to purchase, so that you can watch it as many times as you want to.

My favorite quote from the movie Field of Dreams is “If you build it, they will come.”  So when I decided to start Writing for Children Live, I thought that if this website was meant to be, the speakers will come.  You can imagine the THRILL I had when the first author to submit a proposal to speak on Writing for Children Live was the one and only, Newbery Honor Award Winner for her book On My Honor, Marion Dane Bauer!

This is Marion!!! :)

I can’t wait to host Marion Dane Bauer’s teleconference call and webinar in September and am so tremendously excited about hosting all of the other great authors that are coming this fall:  YA author Angela Morrison, YA author Susan Shaw, nonfiction author John Micklos, Jr. and YA Author K. M. Walton.  Even more great authors are coming this Winter and Spring (you won’t want to miss my interview on writing coming this spring with Gail Carson Levine!!!)

To get notified of how you can access upcoming author presentations, visit http://www.writingforchildrenlive.com.

Just in case you were wondering...I have managed to get a professional book published for librarians and teachers, called Once Upon a Sign, but am still waiting for that book contract to come in for a children’s book.  I continue to get rejection letters, but am starting to get a few sentence response in my rejection letter instead of just the “form” letter, so I figure I’m getting closer. J

I look forward to helping each other to achieve our writing and publishing goals together through Writing for Children Live and The Bumpy Road to Writing for Children.

WRITE ON CON

Write On Con, the two day free online conference for children’s writers, was held on August fourteenth and fifteenth. They offered many, many things and I tried to experience them all. They had seminars, critiques from other members, question and answer sessions held by authors from around the world and lots more. Did you attend? I did. Or rather I intended too.

Due to unforeseen events (we all know how things have a habit of arising) my plans were completely in disarray.

I did manage to sign in here and there and from what I saw, I would’ve just loved the Write On Con! When I did sign in, I posted a picture book story and a query letter for a picture book to be critiqued. I received some very good and helpful suggestions about both. The people were very friendly and as I said, offered some very good suggestions for both my manuscript and my letter.

I’m intend to sign up for the Write On Con again next year. I really hope that nothing prevents me from experiencing the whole conference next year.

So, did you attend? If you did, leave me a comment and tell me about it!

UPCOMING EVENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Marion Dane Bauer will be presenting a FREE, live teleconference called “The Basics Of Writing Successful Picture Books.” Marion is the author of over eighty books and is the winner of the Newberry Honor  Award Winner. The teleconference will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 7PM.

Ms. Bauer will also be holding another event. There will be a FREE webinar on “Point of View In Fiction” on Wednesday, September 26, 2012. This will also be at 7PM.

For more information about either or both of these events just surf to http://www.writingforchildrenlive.com/Marion_Dane_Bauer.html.

I suppose many of you know I submitted my picture book to a publisher. I finally finished it to perfection, ran it through my critique group several times and sent it off to be professionally edited. Now, I only hope the publisher thinks it’s perfect! But now, I have a question: what do I do while I’m waiting for six months?

I came up with a few ideas I came up with since I submitted my picture book and I compiled a very strange list! Here’s what I came up with.

1.  I can go outside, go shopping or treat myself to dinner.
2.  I can get back to working on that afghan I want to make.
3.  Continue working on my chapter book. This is a no – brainer.
4.  Go to the library and research the information I need for my creative non – fiction book I’m working on for young adults. This is also a no – brainer!
5. Get a cup of tea. I do love my tea!
6. Clean the house.
7.  Learn to make a book trailer. I’ve found that book trailers not only enhance book reviews but they help with sales too.
8.  Get to my list of books to be read and reviewed.
9.  Burn those CD’s that I’ve been promising my friend for *ahem* long!
10.  I know that I mainly write for children but I have a magazine article for adults to polish and submit. Do this.
11.  Market for that magazine article.
12. Find a new favorite recipe. I know, I know. This one really s

YOUTH TUBE’S CALL FOR CHILDREN’S PHOTOS

We would just love your permission to include your children in Youth Tube. Please send any questions and high resolution photos of your children at play, reading, creating, etc. to [email protected].

How do you express yourself creatively? There are many ways to do this. As a child, I discovered the piano and delighted at how I could travel where – ever the music took me. It made me feel free as a bird. I also found that I could put all my emotions into whatever piece of music I was playing. I noticed the terrific feeling of joy that I received from it. I also noticed that when I played when I got upset, I could relieve those tensions.

24. What Is Autism?

Do you know someone who has autism? Maybe you have an autistic person in your family? Have you ever wondered why he or she acts like that? What is autism anyway?

Autism is the fastest growing developmental disability in the United States among children aged three to twelve. More children are diagnosed with autism in one year than AIDS, cancer and diabetes combined. It's not known exactly how many children get this dreaded disease but the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention suggests that there are many more people with autism than previously thought. They don't know if this is due to an increasing rate of the illness or not. It is known that autism affects boys three to four times as much as girls.

The proper name for autism is Autistic Spectrum Disorder but most people like you and I just call it autism.

The parents of autistic children notice that something is wrong with their child by the time he's eighteen months old. They usually seek out help by the time the child is two years old. The child with autism usually have difficulties in: pretend play, social interactions and verbal communication.

There are many symptoms of autism and I've included a few of them here. The symptoms include: having unusual distress when routines are changed, the child will use gestures instead of talking, he or she won't respond to smiles, the child may avoid eye contact or the child will like solitary or ritualistic play. He or she won't imitate the actions of others like non - autistic children will. This is just a partial list of symptoms. You can see the full list by looking at my resources below.

25. A Chat With Allyn Stotz

Today we're chatting with Allyn Stotz. Allyn is the author of the children's picture book, The Pea In Peanut Butter. Hi, Allyn. Welcome to The Bumpy Road To Writing For Children! Thank you, Deb. I'm honored to be here with you!

You're probably getting tired of answering this question but what gave you the idea to write The Pea In Peanut Butter?
Actually, I never get tired of any questions people have about my book. My inspiration for this story came from wayyyyyyy back in time when I was young. I wrote a story for a school about a land made up entirely of peanut butter. I could kick myself now for not saving that story, but it always stuck in my mind. So I knew I wanted to write something like that since especially since peanut butter is still one of my favorite foods!

I originally started writing the story where Kailee fell into a jar of peanut butter and landed in a world of only that, however that is not what Kailee was telling me in my head as I was writing it. So, I just let her take a hold of my fingers and she came up with the real story! I think she did a pretty darn good job!

In the story, Kailee gets up at night hungry. Why doesn't her mom suggest a healthy snack, like an apple?
Because she's tired and doesn't feel like arguing. She knows Kailee won't eat an apple or anything like that. Her mom just wants to let her eat something that is at least "fruity." She knows Kailee just wants more peanut butter but wanted to try to stick to her guns and not let her have anymore for awhile.

Why does the pantry door slam shut on Kailee?
The cans of vegetables and fruit saw Kailee reaching for the peanut butter. They wanted to save her from getting into trouble with her mom beca
