I will have two original paintings up for grabs at the auction as well as one print of the "Thistle Queen" with hand painted metallic embellishments.
Finished up a new illustration based on the tale of "La Loba".
“The sole work of La Loba is the collecting of bones. She is known to collect and preserve especially that which is in danger of being lost to the world. Her cave is filled with the bones of all manner of desert creature: the deer, the rattlesnake, the crow. But her speciality is said to be wolves..." ~Excerpt from “Women who run with wolves” by Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Ph.D.

I just opened up a print shop with INprnt. They provide archival prints in various sizes which I'm really happy about! If there is an illustration that you've been wanting a print of that's not in my shop, let me know and I'll get it uploaded pronto!
"I also believe that you met the King of the Forest, Mei, and meeting him is a sign of good luck. But that's no guarantee that you'll see him all the time." ~My Neighbor Totoro
I got a commission this week to illustrate Totoro, soo much fun! I got to rewatch the movie for research and then watch it some more while I was painting. Best job ever :}
A favorite movie of mine growing up was "Hocus Pocus". I remember trying to recreate scenes with my friends, using an old barbecue pit that was left in the corner of the playground as a cauldron. It was one of the many movies that gave my imagination what it was craving and encouraged me to play.
So, here's my little tribute to magic!
Just finished up this lovely creature in time for Fairy Friday! She doesn't have a name yet, I'd love to hear suggestions. She'll be up for sale on my website as soon as possible!
I've been working on concept art for my "Neverending Story" project based off the book written by Michael Ende. I present to you, Dame Eyola!
Towards the end of the book, Bastian has to go through some trials to get his memories back. He ends up at the House of Change and meets Dame Eyola. She is an inviting, round and red-cheeked woman, as healthy-looking as an apple. At first Bastian thinks that she's wearing a dress of bright, flowered material but quickly learns that she IS leaves, flowers and fruits. At one point during their conversation she picks up a watering can and sprinkles herself with water. It all grows out of her as hair grows out of our heads. Dame Eyola is flowering and bearing fruit because she's happy to see Bastian, but if she were to be sad, she'd wither.
Love the Neverending Story? I've been reading and rereading the book; it's jammed packed with amazing imagery I'm excited to explore. I've started illustrating characters everyone is familiar with because of the movie.
For the last week I've been trying to figure out how to use metallic watercolor paint for Falkor's pearly coat. New paint is in the mail, I'm excited to do some more experiments!
This weekend I indulged in making some fan art since Netflix uploaded more seasons of Bob's Burger's to their queue. This is hands down my favorite episode of Bob's Burgers. Gene Belcher starts his own band called the Itty Bitty Diddy Committee. I squealed with laughter the whole time I was working on this piece :}
Here's an oldie that I think I should explore further. Interior illustration from the
Papa Didos children's book, "Finding the Oasis" set to come out at the end of this year.
Who else, but a grumpy gnome would be fairyring maintenance?
