Been working on some thumbnails of kitchen inspired illustrations.  My cousin has commissioned me to create something to go in her kitchen involving my characters.  This is one sketch that I liked. Of course it involves Classy Yeti. :)  Other sketches involved coffee, which I don't drink and I don't think my cousin does either. lol.  Perhaps I shall create it anyway to sell as prints. People like coffee.  I like it, but it only keeps me energized for about an hour and then I crash, a hard crash. So I mainly drink Mountain Dew and lots of water. Trying to be healthy, by eating and drinking right.  But it is hard!

Okay, enough about what I drink and eat.   I have LOTS to do before the holidays come.  I plan on doing a total Etsy makeover!  My shop has been lacking big time and that just stinks.  I am going to have a lot more prints available as well as stickers, buttons, magnets and clothing! Right now I am in search of a decently priced screen printing company that makes baby clothes. So far no luck. Or I found some, but they are just as expensive as Cafepress. >_< 

I am also going to purchase a webhost this week and shall get started on my new website. I'm excited!  Going to be learning some html and css. woo! My bf is going to help me of course, because that stuff is a foreign language to me.  I know a little html, but only enough to make my blog look decent. 

So lots to do. I really hope I get all the stuff done.  I tend to make a list of a ton of stuff and only get about half of it accomplished. bleh.  I am also working 2 pt jobs now.  One being the awesome new internship, which I believe is going pretty well.  InDesign and I are going to be awesome friends. Whether I like it or not. :P

RIP Chainsaw

I am sad to say that my cat, Chainsaw, passed away today.  The past few days he took a turn for the worst.  He had been doing well up until last week it seemed and then he just started to go downhill.  I was preparing for this day for a long time, since he was 18 and had been battling kidney disease.  However, I still was unprepared for how much it would affect me.  He was my little buddy and an inspiration for much of my work.  He is actually  my logo. Granted, that could be any cat to anyone looking at it, but it is Chainsaw to me.  We got him when I was in the 4th grade.  I remember taking him to Show & Tell and he was a big hit with my classmates. He was an awesome cat.  Even though much of the past years he was more annoying (due to the old age), I will miss his annoying self. I am just happy that I was able to spend the entire night with him (we watched Star Trek) and be there for him when he decided it was time to go.  He didn't seem to be in any pain and it seemed pretty quick. RIP Chainsaw, I will miss you a lot.

And on top of that, I actually got an internship with a graphic design company.  I had an interview on Wednesday and I got it.  I actually start tomorrow and I am hoping that I can make it through the day without tearing up or full out crying.  I just have to keep my mind busy.  I am very excited about it.  So I will be working that part time and still working my part time retail job, along with creating my own illustrations.  Going to be busy and probably really exhausted the first few weeks.

So I will eventually have new work to show.

Thanks to all of you who sent me *hugs*.  Even though they are only internet hugs, I still appreciate them as much as real ones. :)  I will be okay eventually, but it will take some time.

That is a rough sketch of a new graphic illustration I will be doing.  It is called Mr. T Party.  ha ha ha....get it?! .....anyway, I thought it was hilarious when I got that image in my head, so I had to draw it.  Might simplify it even more. But for right now I am just planning it all out.

So it has been a long time since I lasted posted.  Not good. :(  I haven't really made much new work, been working on a few things for my bf's site. And have been trying to find a web host along with find good companies to order product from.

Anyway, I had received my business cards earlier this week and was happy.  That was until I opened all of the little packets. The first ones I saw I was very happy with until I got to the ones at the end.  The rounded corners I asked for were no longer rounded.  It was like someone fell asleep and just barely clipped the corners. :(


Not all of them are that bad, and I doubt most people would notice it.  I did though and it bugged me at first, but now I am thinking whatever.  Doubt I will ever get the rounded corners option again. Anyone else have issues with that or is it just me?

The sketch below is a silly thing I came up with last night in about few mins.  I had no idea what the outcome was going to be, I just drew.  And I ended up with a cute little girl dragging along her scared cat. lol.  I have no idea, but I kind of like it.  I will probably use this sketch for when I try out more tutorials.  That is another thing I have been doing, learning new things.  I figure I won't be able to grow as an artist if I am not constantly learning and improving my techniques.  That is one thing I really miss about school.  Constantly learning and being inspired by others.

Sorry for the lack of posting.  Or at least the lack of new artwork.  I have been busy doing the non fun business stuff this past week.  Currently I am searching for a decent web host for my website I shall be creating.  I am tired of the blog look. Granted I have changed it to look more like a website, I am just not happy with it.  So I will be busy creating that once I decide on a host.  I have a few in mind, just have yet to pick one. :/  I am also searching for local print shops so I can get my work printed and am able to sell more through Etsy.   So just a LOT of researching and headaches, while doing some sketching.  Do you ever wish that your college taught you more about certain things about freelancing and creating your own business?  I do.

I admit this is different from the normal cute stuff I do, but I do enjoy creating just plain silly things. It helps create a balance so I don't get an overdose from cuteness (if that is even possible).

Mr. T-Rex

Yes, I do like to create ridiculous things as well for fun.  Not always drawing cutesy stuff. 

So for my boyfriend's birthday (awhile ago) I had drawn him a Mr. T-Rex poster (there is typography on the orig).  So I decided to revisit it and make it a vector drawing that I hope to perhaps get onto Threadless or to sell on my own.  I am still messing with the typography because I can't find a decent font to use.  I am open to suggestions.

Still working on him.  There are a few things about it that bug me, but I'm not sure what they are yet.  Perhaps the colors? Thoughts? He is needing more shading and still have to add a few more details.

Also, I am going to be adding either a sketchbook page or characters page to my blog.  Maybe both! I think it is lacking that.  I am also going to be reworking my portfolio.  I would love feedback on to what I should add in it.  I am thinking I need more people and B&W illustrations.  I would love some good critiques.  Thanks!

So I am back from my little 4th of July vacation.  Had a nice time relaxing by the lake and doing nothing.  However, I am back and it is time to get busy once again! Got a lot of dinosaurs to vector and some typography designs to do.  :)

Pixar Times was taking submissions for original Cars characters, so they could countdown to Cars 2.  I decided to submit and decided to create an older car character.  I can finally post it because they put it on their blog today, which you can find here!

I love Pixar and to have my work on one of their sites is pretty awesome! :)

Had first page syndrome with new sketchbook, but got over it by drawing a flapper girl.

Evil flamingo doesn't look to evil.  A raccoon in a space suit.  And I sketch a squirrel picture and thought it was lacking a top hat and monocle.

I should just draw random things more often.  I enjoy it.  No point to it except to think of something strange or fun and bring life to it.  I also bought a smaller sketchbook so it can fit in my purse (I like big sketchbooks), so I can draw up randomness wherever.  :)

Totally wanted to be a mermaid as a kid.  Thank you Little Mermaid.  The ocean is a scary place though! So many freaky looking fish.  And it has yet to be fully explored.
