2. Sketching at Powells

This was in the Martial Arts section using SketchTime app on my iPad.

- Posted using BlogPress from my iPad

I also sketched some of the patrons in the cafe in pencil on paper.

I would have liked to include the girl's brother in this sketch. He was apparently teasing her but by the time I finished her, they had both left. 😏

I had a great time drawing with my sketching buddies today! Sketched the White Eagle Tavern's patio.
I've been recently told that the White Eagle has quite an unusual past. Lots of history behind the place!

A couple of weeks ago, I met with the Portland Urban sketchers downtown at the Ace Hotel in Portland. It was pouring, of course but the time was well spent as we sketched some of the guests in the lobby. The place was packed with people!

This young woman sat calmly and read through all of the commotion! Must have been a great book!

22. Two Books on the Best Sellers List!

About a year ago, I was commissioned to illustrate two short stories in two books edited by Paul Buhle.
One book was based on the lives of The Beat generation ans the other was based on the interviews of Stud's Terkel's Working.
I just got a copy of the Best Seller's list. The Beats: A Graphic History came up #3 and Working is listed as #12.

24. Interview at Pulse

Jen Contino interviewed me over at Pulse about my work on Pigling: A Cinderella Story. This is from the Graphic Universe collection published by Lerner Books.

Pigling is a Korean version of the famous Cinderella tale. The story is not like the Disney version, although it does have magic, the fantasy part is based on the Korean Culture. Pear Blossom is a very happy young Korean Girl. But as the story goes, her mother dies and her father remarries. Her new stepmother and stepsister make Pear Blossom's life miserable. As part of their cruelty, they nickname her Pigling. Her life changes when she calls for help and magical creatures come to her rescue.

Check out the full story at Pulse.
