Oh, that wasn't very nice, was it? Anyway, be sure to take LOTS of notes at the conference. And study the schedule beforehand to see who/what you want to attend. Also, try to meet lots of people and exchange e-mails. That way you can compare/exchange notes. But most of all, have fun!!!!

As a teacher, I thought you might want to know about the debut (last Monday) of The Picnic Basket where school and library professionals taste new and forthcoming children's books with first-come, first-serve sample copies of books for kids of all ages. We send free books. You tell us what you think: look to see what’s in the weekly feast, request the books that you want to taste, read the books, and then post reviews on The Picnic Basket for your colleagues to read.

It’s a blog full of all you can read (and write) about children’s literature and I hope will become an additional resource for teachers. So far, the feedback’s been overwhelmingly positive. I hope you’ll take a peek and partake in the picnic.

I guess that you are my first friend. I know lots of teachers because I do school visits. I read my poetry and show my illustrations. The K kids know me as the man who draws all of the funny pictures. From the 5th grade on up I am the funny poet.

Hello My Dear-
I've a great solution to your "send children to nurse instantly after hearing 'I don't feel well'". I've solved the entire nasty throw up issue! I bought a nice bathroom sized trash can- a cheap little white one. I wrote on it "Emergency Nurse Pass!" I line it with nice little trash bags and teach the children that if they even think they are going to vomit they are to "Grab and Go". 2ce this year my dear little white trash can rushed out the door.
Because it isn't used for garbage it is very clean and nice and doesn't smell. The children can hold it right up to their faces and it holds ALOT- so there is no splashy mess in the hall.
At the nurses the bag is removed, the bucket rinsed and returned by the Grab and Go person- (who accompanied the sick child to the nurse). I then wash it in my sink with mild dish soap, dry it, replace its bag and wa-lah! I'm back in business. It is really one of my more clever inventions.
Oh- get a trash can with a lip on top so that it is easier for the sick child to hold on and the trash bag ties under it nicely.
I've actually started a craze- you can find Emergency Nurse Pass buckets in almost every room. Happily- I'm the love of the custodians as well! (We who teach know who to stay close too!).

Good luck on your book writing enterprises! I was a New Jersey public school English teach for thirty-four years and am the author of 31 books in the area genres Children's Books, Sci-fi/ Paranormal short story collections, Action Adventure Novels, Adult Satire and Non-Fiction books (type-in Jay Dubya on Google or Yahoo).

Over the years I didn't have too much success sending my work to New York City publishing house. The Internet gave me the opportunity to start my own publishing company, which is finally beginning to do very well. For example, right now my Enchanta children's novel is the biggest search for "Novel" at Amazon Japan.

There is plenty of rejection and frustration associated with book publishing so be prepared to experience it. After seven years of labor on the Internet, my books are finally beginning to show positive results.

Whatever you do in regard to publishing, my advice is to keep writing. It took me 31 book containing 3.5 million words to finally get some recognition.
