I'm soo excited that it's a three day weekend after tomorrow! Well, weekends or weekdays really don't make much different to me as a writer, but it does mean no business related e-mails, stopping for publicity, etc., so I'll be kicking off a Three Day Write-a-Thon on Saturday morning!
Want to join me?
If you do, cool! Leave a comment here that you're going to be writing/editing/outlining, etc., and what you're working on if you like. Throughout the weekend and Monday, check in here to cheer each other on and report your progress. I'll be doing word count updates via Twitter. :) I love writing with other people. It, um, keeps me from getting distracted. Plus, it's embarrassing if I report back with a sad word count.
So, join me via Twitter, Facebook, my blog and let's WRITE!
I'm going to be outlining POPULAR and writing it, too. That's my project. I want to get as far as possible into it.

Coming on July 26, Aladdin is releasing a "Stable of Canterwood Crest Books" (isn't that name supercute?!) of Take the Reins, Chasing Blue, Behind the Bit and Triple Fault as a set of e-books at a great price. Here's a link to pre-order it via Kindle. I'm sure the link will be available soon for the Nook if it isn't already.
I can't wait for this to come out! I never dreamed I'd have a set of books. Ever.
Thank you so much to Team Canterwood for supporting me, Editor K and the series. It's because of YOU that this is happening. Since it's a virtual release, I'm sure I'll come up with something fun to celebrate with you all . . . :)

I got some exciting news yesterday! It led to the purchase of the suuuperfun hoodie and the tank below from the place where, um, most of my paycheck goes--VS's PINK line.
The news? Take the Reins earned out its advance! Yay! It wouldn't have happened without *you,* the readers, and my ridiculously talented editor, Kate Angelella.
We decided some celebratory online shopping was in order, so I snagged that doodle zip hoodie and the pretty tank. I love that mix of blue and gray! Plus, I'm always cold, so I can't get enough hoodies.
Again, I'm so grateful that Take the Reins is doing so well and in it's . . . 6th (?--I should check that . . .) printing. I'll be working as I start to feel better on Initiation this weekend and I'm counting down the days until Chosen releases in May. I've got a lot of fun giveaways during release week! :)
Anyone else a PINK fanatic? What's your go-to store when you want to celebrate with clothes, accessories--whatever?

I haven't been on the computer much recently (I'm super sick, ugh!) but someone on Team Canterwood e-mailed me to say that Initiation (Canterwood #13) was up on Amazon. I don't have the high res-cover yet, but this little one is online. Yay!
I love this cover and the names of the new characters will be revealed over time. When I get the cover in a bigger version, I'll repost it so you all can see the details.

I thought it would be fun for a little Monday pick-me-up! So, how about the reveal of the title for Canterwood Crest #13?!
(In case of any confusion, CHOSEN does not count as #13 because it is a super special.)
The title, brainstormed by the always-fab-and-brilliant Editor K, is . . .
The cover is fabulous and I can't wait to share it with you all!

1 DECISIONS, DECISIONS
ONE BOX TO GO.
I kneeled in front of a cardboard box that I'd shoved in the corner of Brit's—well, our—room. It was the only box left to open after I'd moved into Orchard Hall two weeks ago. I stared at the scissors in my hand, clenching them and waiting for the chest crush to come when I thought about how I'd moved out of my old room. The space I'd shared with my ex(?)–best friend and roommate, Paige Parker.
But, instead, the sadness was only a twinge. Fourteen days wasn't enough for us to even begin to reevaluate our friendship, but it was enough to allow me to realize that I liked living with Brit.
And I was ready to unpack the last box and make this room completely mine, too.
I slid the scissors along the tape at the top of the box and pulled out summer clothes that I hadn't needed to unpack right away since it was mid-October. The tank tops, shorts, and T-shirts fit into the top drawer that Brit had cleared out for me in our dark wooden dresser. I slid the drawer closed and stood back, hands on my hips, surveying the room as mine for the first time since I'd moved in.
The room was bigger than my old one and had glossy hardwood floors, a whiteboard with notes written in neon-colored markers, and soft cream-colored eyelet curtains that swayed gently in the breeze through the slightly open windows. Above the window panes, Brit had twinkly star-shaped lights that made the coziest shadows at night. My feet sank into the pink plush carpet and I sat down on my desk chair.
A key turned in the doorknob and Brit, carrying a FedEx box, stepped inside. She looked every inch runway-ready in her tall black boots with skinny jeans tucked into them and a ribbed, plum-colored V-neck sweater. She may have looked it, but Brit wasn't from New York City like many of the students at Canterwood Crest—she was a small-town girl like me. A fact that had definitely fast-tracked our bond.
"Hey, Sash," she said. Her smile brightened her almond-shaped eyes when she looked at me. Her glossy, long black hair was in a side braid.
"Hey, looks like you got the box you were waiting for," I said.
"Yep!" Brit put the box on the floor, nodding. "My parents got us Halloween decorations for our room. Stephanie had them in her office and I almost ripped the box out of her hands."
I laughed, pulling my light brown hair into a loose ponytail. "Halloween is our favorite holiday."
"And hello—it's in two weeks!" Brit brushed her bangs out of her eyes. "Since it is a Sunday and all of our homework is done, want to decorate?"
"Hmmm …" I pretended to think about it. "Yes!"
Brit and I kneeled on the floor beside the box and she sliced it open. She pulled out a layer of black and orange tissue paper. Plastic spider confetti sprinkled onto the carpet and we giggled. A note was under the layer of paper.
Brit—Happy Halloween! Dad and I hope you and your new roommate like the decorations. We miss you! Xoxo, Mom and Dad
"Let's see what we've got," Brit said. She reached into the box and started handing me items. There was a giant cardboard cutout skeleton to hang on our door, a set of plastic tombstones with funny names like "Barry A. Live," "Reed N. Weep," and "Otta B. Alive." There were two pairs of fake wax fangs and a giant bagful of mixed gum and candy bars. I wanted to dive into the orange M&M's immediately.
Brit handed me a giant rubber spider with an orange sticker that said SQUEEZE ME! on its stomach. I did, making it squeak. Brit and I laughed. I looked at the spider, una

Happy Saturday, everyone!
I've been under the weather for a week or so, so I've been offline. But, I'm slowly getting back to normal. I missed blogging and chatting with Team Canterwood!
Also, the photo shoot is on Monday! Um, YAY!! Sadly, I'm not feeling well enough to go. :( :( But I've got the best team ever and we've got some amazing stuff already lined up for the covers. They're going to be FABULOUS--you'll see.
I'm about to get back to working on UNFRIENDLY COMPETITION, so I'm glad to jump back into Canterwood land. The book will be finished soon and, sniff, it'll be the last time I write from Sasha's POV. But, I'm also extremely excited. When this book is done, Kate and I will be working on our YA idea together and *that's* supersuperexciting. :)
I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend!

Sasha's entire life at Canterwood turns upside down in this book. I cannot wait to hear what YOU think on the forum! And, you know, since it's a special day, I'm going to open this post for a week or so and moderate comments. Your comment will not appear right away--I have to screen it for content and/or spoilers, but I'll post them as soon as I read them. It's celebration time, Team Canterwood!
Many, many hugs to all of you for getting me to book # TEN. (Snap!) You guys *are* Canterwood and I can't tell you how much I heart you all. When you get a copy or if you want to freak out with excitement with me, say hi on Twitter to me or Editor K. Or, comment here, on Facebook or wherever you like.
I don't have early copies (sooo sorry!), but if/when I get them, I'll do a giveaway!
Thank you again to everyone at Aladdin for their support--you know who you are.

Hi Jacob,
I can't stop thinking about you, so I wanted to e-mail and say hi. It's only the first day of fall break, but I miss seeing you around. I know things are messed up between us and this e-mail probably doesn't help, but I wanted to be honest. Hope you're doing okay after the Homecoming dance.
~Sasha
PS: My phone broke and I won't get it back till the weekend, so don't try to text me. E-mail me back—if you want.

The call in number is: 1-800-775-4673. I would LOVE to talk to some of you and answer any questions about writing, Canterwood or anything on your mind. It would be so cool to talk to Team Canterwood! :D
You can listen live, or if you can't make it to the live show, it will be available a few hours later online for you to listen. I'll post a link when it's archived.
I'll post a reminder a few days before the show airs. I'm so excited and I really hope to speak to some of you. The call is completely toll free since it's an 800 number, but do ask your parents before you call.
So you can check it out, here's the Website. Scroll down to the right side of the screen and at 11am EST on June 23 click on the "LifeTalk" widget that looks like this:

I'll do it! I am writing a book about pony riders showing on the Pony circuit! This should be fun, I need to write anyways! :)
What the heck, I'm in. Fair warning, I'm just getting back from a long hiatus so I'm still in baby steps phase. Significant word count is step 2 in my 12 step process. LOL
Yay, Katylin! Your idea sounds so fun. :)
Hey, Paula--so glad you're in! Baby steps are always welcome. :) You've got cheerleaders, now!
I will work on my new story at home, because I'm not a publishing authour or anything...
AAARRRGGGHHH!!!! I've been watching the Canterwood Crest video over and over, and I have memorized all the new characters, but I feel sososososososososososo super sad that Sasha won't be there anymore. Well, Sasha wasn't my favorite, but seeing Paige and Callie and everyone, it just brings this huge wave of sadness. On a happier note, the new characters look super cool!!! I like Riley (though I am biased because I am Chinese and she looks Chinese. Or Japanese or Vietnamese or Korean.)
I'll do it! I'm writing a story for English class called saving Paige.-Aladdin and Emily 4ever!@@!
I'm In! Definitely want to do it. I really like writing for fun, and I have a couple stories going. One is a HP fan fiction, and one (it's in the works) is a spin-off of Glee!
On Friday I will be on a six hour car ride and I am going up to heiber, az
And I'm staying in my grandmas and aunts condo( there condos are right next to each other) anyways my whole families up there and I'm so ready to write I am trying to get a book published and i'm working on another one,
But it is going to be so nice going from180 degrees farenhite to 70 degrees
And I started school august tenth and I've been so busy since
OMG totaly in! It's so cool that you happened to post this just as I've started a new book series! I just posted chapter one of it on HorseMystic, and I'd def like to join you with your Write-Athon. It's hard for me to stay with one book. Usualy I have good ideas, and I start books, but enver finish them--I hope I can finish this one! It's sorta like The Lying game, but but different. It's about twins (one rich one poor) who meet together at a boarding school, and try to figure out who their parents are, while dealing with homework, schoolwork, boys, friends, and drama :)
I can't wait for your new books to come out. I love all the new characters and already know i'll love the new ones.
I'll do it. I can't wait. I REALLY need to start working on my stories again. I have SO many things that I need to work on right now. Thanks for coming up with this!!!
-Show Jumper <3 (ericsashacharm)
I am totally going to do it!!!
I like writing as a hobby and I am in the process of writing a novel... :)
I'd love to, but school starts on Tuesday, and I have to wake up at six, and it's my first day of middle school, so I need all weekend to get ready. (Which means that I'll be spending my kick-back time with buds &/or resting my brain, lol. :)
cant WAIT for Initiation! :D but I'm so bumbed it's not coming 'till 2012. :(
peace! :) <3
Hey, all! Yay for so many people joining! I'm sooo excited! :) We're going to ROCK this weekend!
I would love to join. I will write about, hmm, a girl and her horse :)
i'm in! i have a few things i've been working on, so i can't wait! ~Jackie
I'm so in! I'm writing about a new rider finding her perfect horse... XD Cheesy, right?
My check in #1: I JUST got started at 4:30pm. Word count/page count coming later!
How's everyone doing?
I'm doing great and I've been working for hours. I'm editing and writing at the same time.
Word Count: 17,123
Page Count: 38
More updates to come later tonight.
Just started at 5 and did 45 minutes. Ran into some issues having to update my PageFour software. Blah blah, blah the point is I got in some writing time after doing everything else today. So I'm pumped. Hope everyone got in their writing today. A little is better then none. Rock on writers.
Getting really far into my project.
I've written about 900 words today. My main focus this weekend is less on the word count, though, and more on making it through this portion of the book. There's a different set of characters making things happen in this part of the book than in the first part (with some overlap, like two thirds of a Venn diagram) and I'm still trying to get comfortable with the dynamics between these characters. I technically know how they relate to each other, but that's a far cry from being comfortable writing it! I did make a start on that today, though, and I plan to get even further over Sunday and Monday.
@britlitfantwin hey sounds awesome. need any help I'll be on almost all night
I've got Diet Coke, iced coffee with a shot of vanilla and a kitty beside me.
Time to get started!
How's everyone doing?
I started at 12:00. Been busy editing and writing. Word/page count to come soon.
Ugh. Just got started a little while ago today, but I'm proud of it :) Is there anyway we'll be able to share with people, like through e-mail, comments, or blogs?
Only wrote a few sentences today, but I did plan out the story and work on the characters a lot today.
~Shannon
I will join. I am writing a book about girls who live in an unknown indian territory and they ride wild horses. I love it so far, not to brag. And i got a lot of work done since friday!!!
Hey, Molly,
What are you wanting to share? Progress? If so, leave it in the comments here or Tweet it--however you like. :) It's hashtagged as #3daywat
So jessica if you are reading this i want you to know that you are a very talented author. I wish you could read my story. I am the one who posted a few minutes ago about the indians and wild horses story.
-Aly
Violet and Ruby, aka Jess and Kate-
Could we, like, share drafts or excerpts or something?
~Molly
Molly, you may share whatever you like. :) Maybe you'll get feedback from other participants if you're looking for that.
Molly, I guess if we all left our email address we would have a way to share...... mine is [email protected] and anyone can email me whenever. Id rly like to see how everyone's stories are coming along. And Hi jessica!!!!!! :)
-Aly
Cool :) Making a website as I type!!! I'll post a link here or on Twitter, but it'll be password protected, if I can figure that out :)
Oh, and Aly-I'll try and make a special e-mail just for writing stuff :)
Molly, do you have an email address now? Maybe you can leave that one and then when you get a new one you can email that one. What is your story about? Oh and i may not respond for at least 10 mins because i will be in the car cause i am going to a sleepover. But i will be able to comment there. ;)
-Aly
Aly-
I'm not aloud to use my real e-mail with people I don't know, lemme ask my mom and dad if I can make one :)
Hey here's a question to anybody...Do you model your character's personality or appearance from people in real life? I do sometimes otherwise I have trouble picturing the person.
~Shannon
