It's the 109th birthday of Theodor Geisel aka Dr. Seuss. Here's a photo of my pug dressed in his party hat ready to celebrate the big day.

OK! From Fuse#8 Productions we have a the results of Elizabeth Bird's
Re-Seussfication Project. She challenged illustrators to re-illustrate a Seuss classic in the style of
another illustrator, honoring both - I hope. I particularly like the last illustration.

Tricia Richmond has a great blog carnival of posts on children’s books today on her The Miss Rumphious Effect blog.
The post has so much good stuff, like a post on ideas for reading with expression when reading to young kids, a post on snack and craft ideas to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday (cool!), lots of interviews (including mine with new agent Mandy Hubbard) and even posts on songs about reading.
Great fun! Check it out.
I did a Dr. Seuss story program for 2 and 3 year olds last week, a little early for scheduling reasons. We did stories, music and movement, and the kids made Cat in the Hat hats. It was a lot of fun. One of my favorites, which I did not do for this age group, is Fox in Socks, a real tongue twister. It's fun to read aloud, and I used to read it to my son. The stories for my toddler program, I shortened and adapted, including The Cat in the Hat. Pablo looks great!
Thanks, Annie! Bet those kids looked adorable in their Cat-in-the-Hat hats!
They did! They danced in them, and wore them going home!
