Walking on Tippy toes
Watering the flowers
Hoping that your garden grows
Walking on tippy toes
Walking on tippy toes
Making up a song
This is how the song goes
Walking on tippy toes
Walking on tippy toes
Boppin' down the street
Peeking in the windows
Walking on tippy toes
Walking on tippy toes
Like a circus acrobat
Playing tightrope on the garden hose
Walking on tippy toes
Tippy, tippy, tippy, tippy, toes
Tippy, tippy, tippy, toes
Tippy, tippy try not to trippy
When you're on your tippy, toes
Walking on Tippy toes
Makes you feel taller
You can cheep and flap your elbows
Walking on Tippy toes
Walking on Tippy toes
Spinning in a circle
Close your eyes and try to touch your nose
Walking on Tippy toes
Walking on Tippy toes
Watering the flowers
Hoping that your garden grows
Walking on tippy toes
Walking on tippy toes
Making up a song
This is how the song goes
Walking on tippy toes
Tippy, tippy, tippy, tippy, toes
Tippy, tippy, tippy, toes
Tippy, tippy try not to trippy
When you're walking on your tippy, toes
When you're on your tippy, toes
When you're on your tippy, toes
Down in Mississippi
Ice cream's getting drippy
With a cup called sippy
With a little dog name yippy
It's getting kind of nippy
I wish my name were zippy
This song is pretty flippy

When my children were little I used to bring out my guitar and noodle around, a lot. I ended up singing little ditties when I put them to bed, playing in the house, and my one of my favorite places to compose, while they were in the bathtub (great acoustics in bathroom, plus a captive audience!) I recorded four albums of music, mostly written while being around my children. My last album was much older as far as the type of songs I recorded. None of the songs were call and response. (Call and response songs are really an important way to involve little ones when singing live)
Both my children are in their twenties now. Guess who hasn't been inspired to write songs for little ones for a long time?
Yesterday I was walking our three dogs and I stopped to speak with my neighbor who moved in, not too long ago. Her daughter Sam is two. Every afternoon they are outside with their watering cans watering the flowers. As I stood there yesterday, it was clear that Sam loves to walk on her tip toes. Her mother called it, tippy toes. I LOVED that. Tippy toes. I ended up singing into the recorder on my iphone as I walked around the rest of the block.

There's something to be said for being open to inspiration!
Love it Barney. My mom called it tippy toes, too. She said I didn't like to get my feet wet, so I would walk on my tippy toes on the wet grass. I guess it felt too squishy. We're all just little creatures from Mars when we're we're toddlers venturing out into the world for the first time.
Thank you. I love the idea that we are all little creatures from Mars. (another song!!!). My daughter didnt like walking barefoot on the grass either! Funny little creature from Mars! Now see what you did? I have to write that one now!!!
