2. sugary

The challenge word on another illustration blog this week is "sugary".
This could be a companion piece to my illustration for "yummy".
I know a guy who's tough but sweet

Here's my original Tale of Swirly von Swirly deCocoa McDuff
Swirly von Swirly deCocoa McDuff
Made candy and gumdrops and sugary stuff
He mixed up ten pounds of peppermint sweets
And coconut tangerine crispy rice treats
Tray after tray of peanut fudge drops,
Hazelnut toffee and red lollipops.
Swirly von Swirly, he mixed and he stirred
Batch upon batch of sweet lemony curd,
Butterscotch cherry cashew rum brittle
Caramel chewies with cream in the middle
Those copper pots glistened,
those pots of McDuff
Overflowing with chocolate
And marshmallow fluff
That Swirly von Swirly, he stirred and he mixed
Nonpareil candies all dotted with Trix!
He tried and he tested and experimentated
Shaken-up fizzy sticks (noncarbonated)
Clusters of almonds in a big creamy puff
All made by the Master —
deCocoa McDuff.

3. Sugary

Ok, so a bit "sugary" but hey, I was at the store waiting for hubby to pick up some paint so I sat and sketched this. I didn't have a pencil with me so used a pen I found in our vehicle.

4. ILLUSTRATION FRIDAY ~ SUGARY-( the Pettifour-Pinafore )

Ameila and her grandma spent the whole morning creating sugary pettifours. They were having a lot of company for a special luncheon.

" I wish I could eat just one or maybe two and then serve our guests,
because if we serve them all, they look so good that there won't be any left."
"I know, and that's too sad isn't it." said grandma.
      Ameilia thought for a while.
"I know, we can share them! But, before we do I must have just one!"
Amelia's grandma smiled and  let her choose the perfect one and then she said,
"I have an idea Amelia. Let's paint some designs on your pinafore. Then you will always have a SUGARY reminder of what we baked today."
" A delicious idea!" exclaimed the child, and together Ameilia and her grandmother painted delightful designs on her pinafore.
" What a nice way to remember this day!" grandma hugged Amelia and they carried the tray of sugary delights into the dining room to wiat for their guests.

5. Illustration Friday: sugary

Do you think it's possible that when we drop little pieces of sugary sweet candy on the ground and under the couch that bugs might consume the interior as their food source and live inside the hollowed out shells of candy corn and tootsie rolls? My submission for Illustration Friday's " sugary" theme is a little original spot illo that is a used for a gift tag. Upcycled candy corn with licorice stovepipe and crumb from a hershey kiss that makes up the chimney. Front door is the crust from a graham cracker. For rent or lease in your neck of the woods.

But for the real goop: National Candy Corn Day (October 30th) is only one of many sweet holidays recognized by the National Confectioners Association which was founded in Chicago in 1884. The NCA is one of the oldest, most respected trade associations in the world.
Candy Corn was originally created by George Renninger in the 1800. The tri-colored candy caused quite a stir when introduced by the Wunderlee Candy Company. As the process to make these bite sized candies was labor intensive, Candy Corn was originally produced only from March to November each year as a seasonal favorite.
In the 1900's, the Goelitz Candy Company started to produce this confection and continues to do so to this day as the Jelly Belly Candy Company.
