1. ILLUSTRATION FRIDAY ~ Propagate

When I think of Propagate I have only to look around my studio and see the endless sketches, drawings, printouts and paintings that share my workspace. I say "share" because when I create a character it becomes a part of my studio family. I have to printout all the pages to see if they are working. More than that , however, I need to keep that family near me while I work. The components of the current book adorn the many bulletin boards in my studio. They are also a form of propagation as I have to keep adding more to extend the surfaces for display.

Having finished a book with many characters I sent it off to the publisher like a mom sending a child off to the first day of school. With the files sent off I cleared the bulletin boards. Seeing them empty will not do, so now they are once again in propagation mode for the current project.
Since I cannot, for copyright reasons share that photo, I will post one small image from the book, that shows the propagation of a crowd drawn into a park by the sweet sounds of a little boy playing his harmonica. And I realize it is very small, but consider this, it is one of 30 printouts that hung in my studio as I worked to create this family of friends.

2. Illustration Friday: Propagate

There's a flock of ravens in the Northeast that are referred to as the "Kimono Corvids."
Their taste for fine silks has been passed down through many generations.
No one knows who their seamstress is. We all know ravens know how to use tools, but needle and thread?
The mystery remains.

My chosen definition for Propagate is: To transmit (characteristics) from one generation to another.

3. Illustration Friday ~ Propagate

propagate72Here’s a quick one this week  for the Illustration Friday theme Propagate.

I’ve been busy getting ready for the SCBWI Houston Conference. I’ve been cleaning up my portfolio and editing it down to the strongest pieces.

I’m really excited to meet up with old friends I haven’t seen in awhile and new friends I’ve met on line. I’ll have a more detailed post with all the conference happenings after Saturday!

4. Illustration Friday: propagate

Cultivate your heart and love will propagate.
My submission for Illustration Friday's "propagate" theme is a valgal valentine called
House of Adore and the door opens and there is a little sweet message. Adore and a door ;)

You should give val-entines all the time not just on February 14th.
I have an image that is really perfect for this word here but I have shown it in the past and I don't like to repeat images:)
Here I am with my sweet brother Colin. We are close little buddies. He sent me a beautiful box of chocolates from France for my special day :) He knows I love candy!
Thank you Colie!
