When speaking of edible plants (and their medicinal properties), the opium poppy tends to get a bad rap. Most likely this is because while its harmless leaves, oil, paste, and ripened seeds can be found in various Turkish, Arabian, and Persian dishes, the narcotic properties of unripe poppy seeds have made it a lucrative black market crop in recent decades. I like the idea of a new teen imprint.
But I don't think I'll be writing for this one. Little, Brown Children new teen paperback imprint is called Poppy. They are going to move all the Gossip Girl, Clique, and A-List series there. And they'll launch it with Cecily von
Ziegesar's Gossip Girl prequel. In January they'll begin a new series, Poseur, about LA teens who start a fashion line.
Too bad that's not my cup of tea.
Unless, of course, someone wants to offer me a lot of money....

Here's a collage I did for a notecard. I love ravens, and to me they're the ultimate visionaries. Lately whenever I hear a flock of them making a huge racket, I turn and walk the other way because that usually means they've spotted our neighborhood mountain lion. I hate it when that happens!
