Fillion is holding a science fiction book for young adults.
Haarsma and Fillion are co-founders of Kids Need to Read: "Kids Need to Read works to create a culture of reading for children by providing inspiring books to under-funded schools, libraries, and literacy programs across the United States, especially those serving disadvantaged children." So, in addition to Fillion promoting a YA book, this poster also brings publicity for Kids Need to Read.

ALA READ Posters can be bought at the ALA Store. According to the Kids Need to Read website, the poster isn't available until mid-July. That won't stop me from looking for it at ALA DC!

I want this poster. And I agree, that man looks very good with a book in his hands. I had no idea he helped co-founder Kids Need to Read. That is absolutely wonderful.
Sigh he is lovely (and don't foget he was in 2 Guys a Girl and a Pizza Place as well and evil preacher guy in Buffy and...sorry obsessed). I only just started working through the Firefly dvd, but can not understand why not enough people wanted to watch it when it was aired.
SQUEE!!! This is so replacing the Edward/Bella poster on my office door (which by the way is there not for me, but because it makes my office look cooler to my teens-I'm ready for a change!)
Maybe because I'm a writer, I'm acutely aware of how real reading requires time, silence, and solitude. I worry that all the texting and phone-play are making younger people less likely to discover those other pleasures.
