I saw on Sara Lewis Holmes' blog, Read Write Believe, a post about writing your life story in six words. Her six words are genius! Yesterday at my in-person crit group meeting, one member challenged the rest of us to write our memoirs in seven words each by next meeting, so I've got my thinking cap on.
I'm also a fan of Four Word Film Reviews. That's right. Four words. Here are a few entries of current movies:
10,000 B.C. - 'Mammoth' waste of time.
College Road Trip - Lawrence of A-Road-ia.
Vantage Point - Hurt shot: covert plot.
The Other Boleyn Girl - Bedded unwedded; wedded, beheaded!
I'm sure you see where this is headed. I'm thinking we need mini-reviews/teasers of children's books. And I'm thinking verse. Maybe couplets? I don't know, but I think this could be fun.
So, let me give this a quick try for a few books I've read and liked lately.
Sweethearts, by Sara Zarr:
Memories won't stay hidden away
Cameron's back, but will he stay?
I Heart You, You Haunt Me, by Lisa Schroeder
Ava knows that Jackson's dead
So why's he speaking in her head?
Kiki Strike: Inside the Shadow City, by Kirsten Miller (still reading this one)
Below New York, there's plague galore
What's Kiki really looking for?
How about you? What's your favorite book you've read recently? Care to share a couplet?
