1. Calling All Poets! Publisher Needs 2 Poems

I have a book called Write Your Own Poetry coming out in 2008 from Compass Point Books.  It's part of the Write Your Own series, and it has tons of poems and excerpts of poems.

Because of some logistical issues, the publisher suddenly needs two more poems that fit certain requirements. There is no monetary compensation, but it's an opportunity to be a published poet, if you're interested. I know many people won't want to submit because of the no-pay issue, and I totally understand. I don't like the no-pay issue, but I thought it might be a fun opportunity for some of you who like to share your work.

So here's the deal.

Poem 1

They need a poem using near rhyme or slant rhyme (not perfect rhyme) that has to do with a puppy. Something between 25 and 40 words, ideally. The art would be similar to (but not) this:

Poem 2

The need a poem that uses line breaks to reflect a certain mood or emotion. It should be 12 short lines or fewer, and it would go along with art that is similar to (but not) this:

I will take poems until this Friday, and you could email them directly to me. Please visit my website to email me from there. I'll pass them along to the editor, and she will read them carefully to see if there are two she can use.

I just realized I'm not positive of the rights you'd be granting. I think just one-time, non-exclusive rights, but I will check that with the editor and addend this post as soon as I know.

Addendum: You'd be granting one-time, non-exclusive rights.
