I know one thing after living the worst week of my life: we tell stories so we can live the worst weeks of our lives.
Our (meaning Aimee's and my) friends and I have told many stories this week--too many for me to account. Those stories have saved me, bit by bit. Those stories have propped me and held me and kept me moving through the most unimaginable brokenness.
We tell stories because we are human. Because we hurt. Because we love. Because, in the end, without stories, the vast, unfeeling universe might crush us.
But take heart.
I have a story to tell. Several of them. And together, we will hurt, and love, and keep telling stories.
I plan to share some of my favorites about my wife this year.
Write hard. Love hard. Live a good, full life.

Probably the most moving blog post I've ever read; you take care as well Aaron and know you have friends to listen to your stories everywhere, both real and virtual.
Glad to see you writing and ready to tell stories. I have been thinking of you constantly since Aimee died and I can't even begin to imagine what you're going through. Know that there are many, many people out there, including me, who care for you and worry about you and wish you well. Hugs.

The strength you will draw from this will be unimaginable, but in turns, the grief will be crushing.
Embrace it and use it to move you forward.
There will be moments you are alone but feel the need to talk. Do it. Talk aloud and from your heart, speak of the things you thought lost, of the things you thought never to share again, for in doing so you will feel connected, maybe briefly, maybe longer, but it will happen.
It is said that when our loved ones who have passed enter our dreams it is their way of visiting us, as our mental barriers are down, and our minds open. Take comfort in that.
