I hope all the mamas had nice Mother’s Day with their families! I’m popping in to let you all know that I’ve re-opened my vintage shop. Everything is priced for gals on a budget and each item is just really pretty.
Stop by and have a look if you get the chance!
Happy Monday.
New prints in le shop.
A lady and her gentleman caller, decorated with scattered flowers inspired by one of my favorite things: 1930s feedsack prints. Pretty rose-mauve color with cream flowers. Available in 8″x10″ and 5″x7″.
This one keeps me company and reminds me of the spring to come!

New things!
I’m pleased to be adding new paper goods to le shop. I love these blackbirds recipe cards. They are much for simple than ones of the past so they have a bit more modern feel while maintaining some old-fashioned cuteness (I think so anyway).
Speaking of black birds, my black swan paper doll friend in finally in the shop too. These were supposed to be listed for the holiday shopping season but a printing snafu prevented that from happening. Oh well those are the breaks, kids. They make me happy nevertheless.
Some Love Notes sets, packaged like treats.
Muted tones and prints inspired by old feedsack fabric. For Valentines or just because.
With this update it’s also official that my old Etsy shop has moved to TheFabledNeedle.etsy.com! Not only did I have to re-list each product but some images and product copyright info had to be updated as well. I’m glad I can focus my efforts on other things now like a series of paintings currently in the works.
Hi dearies! I hope you all had a wonderful week. The Thanksgiving holiday was very mellow and I enjoyed working on little projects here and there and eating an ample amount of leftovers. With my nose in a book or armed with a needle and thread (repairing an old ’30s dress, for example) I nearly forgot to mention I had added some cheery recipe cards to my Etsy shop…so here they are!
Oh, and they’re printed on recycled paper with soy inks.
Which reminds me, if you’d like to print your own recipe cards (plus bakery tags, background papers and more) there’s my Blackbirds kit in the shop:
On a completely unrelated note, has anyone seen the BBC’s
Bleak House? I’ve been watching it the past couple of days. Mr. Tulkinghorn is absolutely terrifying!
I’m popping in to let you all know that everything in my vintage shop is on sale: 25% off!
I’d like to send this stuff to good homes so that I may focus on other things. That being said, I’m totally open to a little haggling, flea market-style, so if you see something you like make me an offer via the “contact” link in my Etsy shop.
If you think you have a friend that might be interested in something here, please spread the word, thanks dears!

Hi dears! I’m so glad to be adding a couple of new things to the Etsy store. Some pretty stationery things for you: a Thank You card set plus Print Your Own stationery (you’ve gotten a sneak peek of both items on ye olde blog).
The drawings are inspired by late summer: lazy afternoons, golden sunlight and pretty wildflowers. And as you can see I’ve used some of my favorite colors too (coral-y pink, golden yellow and teal blue!).
As of this posting, the above stationery items are on Etsy but I’ll also be adding them to le shop as well. But first my husband is taking me on a museum date!
Happy Tuesday.
I’ve been meaning to share with you photos of my studio after I painted it grey from bright yellow (goodness, that was a while ago!). And I guess this is really just a tease since I’m not quite ready to really show you everything. I’ve spent many hours cleaning, organizing and rearranging this room; it’s the one in the house where the misfit furniture ends up and I finally figured out how to make it all work.
Here you see some of my most loved vintage wearable things including stuff that will end up in le shop. I’m really excited as I’ve had a kind of epiphany in terms of what I want to do with my time and what makes me happy; therefore my shop is going in a slightly different direction than where I was taking it before. (But I don’t think it would be much of a shock to any of you.) Details later. (Oops, there’s that teasing again! Hee hee.)

Louise, a Narwhal; 5×7 watercolor & ink
I’ve just added to le shop a 5×7 print of my original watercolor and ink drawing: Louise, a Narwhal. You may not know this, but narwhals are very sensitive creatures and have the ability to feel great empathy for other living things.
For every Louise print sold, 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the National Audubon Society, in an effort to help with the BP oil spill clean up in the Gulf of Mexico.
It’s for real: TheFabledNeedle.com is my official home on the web! While the name change may not seem like a big deal (especially since “The Fabled Needle” has been my blog handle for almost 5 years now), I’m super happy with this change - it just feels right to me.
The past several weeks have been very busy with work so I haven’t made any huge changes although I have updated both my main (shop) and blog headers:
I presently have redirects going from loveliette.com to the new site which is a huge convenience right now but ideally old links would be updated. If you link to loveliette.com, and if you wouldn’t mind it so much, please update your links with thefabledneedle.com. I’m fairly certain I won’t be asking for such favors again. ;) (Which reminds me, I will be updating my Links page as well - so much to do!) Thank you!
Ok dears, off to work I go. I hope to be back soon with new stuff including art and sewing-related things!

‘Ello, sweets! I hope all of you in the Northern Hemisphere are able to enjoy some warmer weather this week. I have been so inspired by the change I have updated my Etsy shop (fable*) with a ton of vintage (and some new) goodies! Really, really wonderful things that I can scarcely believe I’m parting with. I know these pretties will find their way to good homes so that makes it okay. (Psst - I have also listed items at very reasonable prices too.)
There are lots of sewing patterns, millinery, beads and a couple of lacy, floaty wearables.
Special for blog readers this week: Buy any 2 millinery items, beads or sewing patterns and get the 3rd millinery item, beads or sewing pattern for free (equal or lesser value; through midnight Friday, March 26th, PT). Just leave a note in the “Message to Seller” box when you checkout letting me know what free item you’d like.
Non-U.S. Peeps: Please convo me the item you are interested in, plus your city/country, and I’ll get back to you with a shipping quote.
