I did this painting back in February. Since I went to the library and took out all the Potter books they had to work on my mousie, I thought it would be a good tribute piece. In the spring I was contacted by a counted cross stitch pattern maker to license the image as a a counted cross stitch. I must say that was a huge thrill. The pattern is up here.
The site also licensed several other pieces, mostly flowers, which have not been made into patterns yet.

As promised I'm posting the creatures I created for the 21 day challenge...and I can hardly believe that It's been eight days since I've updated my blog with the challenge creatures! I paid for it in scanning time in the end. Now to be fair: Here's a little diddy about what I've been up to.
- Stop & Shop Fair: I set up my booth (new shiny display, prints and bookmarks, cards and twinkling lights ready to go...) only to be out-sold by the spectacular weather that Edmonton was given. Thank you so much to those of you who stopped by to visit and pick up a new card/print!
- Student Recruiting: My last day as a student recruiter for MacEwan College's Design program was last night during an information session... hello to those of you who picked up my new postcard!
- Self Promo: I have new postcards and business cards! Mail-out to come in the next couple weeks
- Museum: Only four more days and my contract ends at the Royal Alberta Museum. I've been hard at work promoting their upcoming Dragon exhibit as well as the soon to open Empress of Ireland story!
- Freelance: Oh internet! I wish I could tell you everything about the amazing projects I'm working on...
- Garbage Film Festival: I watched films all about trash. It was amazing! I was saddened, inspired and enlightened by the stories I witnessed. For example: Did you know that there is a Guatemalan garbage dump that houses 4,000 people (they live there, eat there, work there, raise their children there...)?
- Gardening: All Monday I was outside, digging in the dirt with my fingers planting herbs (over a dozen different ones), tomatoes (3 varieties), peppers (3 varieties), lettuce, spinach, potatoes (2 varieties), onions (2 varieties), kale, cucumbers, fennel, wild flowers, raspberries, strawberries, carrots.... I'm trembling with excitement because it's raining outside right now!

Here are 6 things unimportant things about Miss me:
1 - I love ladybugs and I let them walk all over me.
2 - I ordered my wedding gown three months before being officially engaged.
3 - Kitties are fascinating animals to me.
4 - There are so many birdies to paint and such little time.
5 - I was the last one picked at sports. I'm so glad to be an artist.
6 - Spanish is my first language and this should have been item # 1.

These last couple of weeks there has been some bad flooding in parts of the UK and I was very sad to hear from author and publisher Debjani Chatterjee that her independent Sahitya Press has been badly affected, with the loss of their books stored in a community centre in Sheffield. Our thoughts go out to her and her colleagues.
In an interview with PaperTigers a few months ago, Debjani talked about how certain stories crop up in many different traditions: one of these is the Great Flood. There are many versions of Noah’s Ark, which we enjoy reading - but this week was the first time my boys had come across the story outside its biblical context and they were intrigued. We are reading Atticus the Storyteller’s 100 Greek Myths by Lucy Coats and Anthony Lewis, which we all agree is a “superb retelling of the Greek myths for younger children” and “a really lovely book for all the family to share” (Books for Keeps). Like in The Barefoot Book of Knights I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, the stories are brought together by a narrator: here it’s Atticus, who is on his way (more…)
Very nice work Girly, you did a great job. I think it's wonderful. At least you posted your stuff already I still have to come up with something. Oh well, I'm going to watch the DVD and get inspired. Again Wendy great work.
