I am sick. I hate being sick. I wanted to write a blogical in the worst way but all that comes out is globbishness.
I tried to work on my gargoyle and all that came out was garglob.
I went to my paying place and had a tete a tete with my boss. My globheadedness left her for dead.
And tonight is my daughter's Nat'l Honor Soglobitty Ceremony. I was supposed to ladle a loving cup but instead I cradle a croupy cough.
The light at the end of my globstrel is Dave and Bill's jazz gig at a local club on V-Day. I hope I feel better by then.
Post suck. My kids are having a look at my gargoyle character and have mixed feelings about the size of his cuppy ears. Bigger, smaller, bigger, smaller. I suppose that has to do with how much he has to drink. There is always food for thought and room for change.

First off, we have Clubbing, by Andi Watson and Josh Howard.
The cover will be your first clue at why I was interested in this book. Lottie is a spoiled gothy London girl, who gets busted trying to use a fake ID, and shipped off to her grands in the Lake District. Not exactly her scene. And it's not only the rain. Her grandparents live on the grounds of a country club, and have plans for Lottie's days of banishment. She will be working in the pro-shop and helping her gran out with her ladies club activities.
It seems that things couldn't get more boring when a body shows up in the water with an occult symbol carved into her arm! And what's more, Lottie saw her grandfather arguing with the woman just that morning.
Now Lottie, and local boy Howard are investigating the crime, which turns out to have a supernatural bent. Ritualistic sacrifice, anyone?
Fun, fun, fun!
Next off is Good As Lily, by Derek Kirk Kim and Jesse Hamm.
Lily is turning 18, and her friends throw her a party in the park. Lily's a pretty lucky girl. Her friends are loyal, and they do love her. After she opens her presents, the ice cream lady in the park manages to convince Lily that she needs a pinata and not cones. Soon Lily finds herself with the pinata lodged on her head.
Then, the weirdness starts.
Upon revisiting the park, Lily finds a crying young girl, a drowning 29 year old, and an ornery old lady! And they are all her.
Imagine coming face to face with your child self, almost 30 self, and senior self. More importantly, how is Lily going to get through her last semester of high school with all of these Lily's hanging around. Especially when her 29 year old self keeps hitting on her drama teacher!
A wonderfully different story about family, friendship, loyalty and love.

I still can’t decide which is cooler…. Seeing all the goths at Disneyland or seeing all of the “regular” guests seeing all the goths at Disneyland. Bats Day in the Fun Park 2007 is August 17-19. Hope to see you there!

I'd be more afraid of a Barry Manilow fan than a Goth. As for my daughter - she's been around so many races, religions, cultures, and nationalities that she, at the age of 7 next week, still doesn't know that there is such a thing prejudice (meaning pre-judging someone for their looks, language or behavior). She'd no doubt grab the hand of Marylin Manson and drag him off to play Polly Pockets! But at my age I still struggle with pre-judging - I'll try to keep an open mind for those Barry Manilow fans.
I'm going to try to make this event, Josh. I'll keep in touch.
Funny illo, well done! I've seen this at d-land! Heh... I was a punk in the early 80's (I've dated myself, haven't I?) and I know what it's like to scare people with your looks in spite of being a nice guy. Such is prejudice, eh?
Wow, they look like the Adams family - a very nice family, by the way! Great illustration!
