I should've read this when it first came out, and I don't know why it slipped through my radar. I'm just glad I did! And what a great time to start this!! The sequel, Froi of the Exiles came out this year, and the third book, Quintana of Charyn, comes out April 2013. Excellent timing on my part :) I looked through youtube and found a few trailers on Finnikin, but decided I couldn't let this one sleep....it was screaming at me to make a trailer. So here it is!
If you don't get Youtube, it's also on Schooltube: http://www.schooltube.com/video/caccbb2128b1456f98b1/
It can also be downloaded from the NHS library website (look for the Digital Booktalk section): http://www.nisdtx.org/Page/3587

Somtimes, I feel like my booktalk on a particular book wouldn't justify how good it is. Such is the case with Elizabeth Scott's newest book. So, what to do instead? Tell it by book trailer :) Here's the newest one I've created:
You can also view it on Schooltube: http://www.schooltube.com/video/86e342502b3b4f408916/Miracle%20by%20Elizabeth%20Scott
And download it from the NHS Library homepage book trailer list (under the Mighty Red N!) http://www.nisdtx.org/Page/3587
Enjoy!

I usually make trailers for those books I absolutely loved! This is one of them.... :) You can view it on Schooltube or Youtube and I've provided a link if you'd like to download it.
Sometimes, I make a good book trailer, sometimes I KICK BUTT on one...this is definitely one I feel is the one of the best I've created so far....enjoy! You can download it on my NHS Library webpage as well as link from youtube or schooltube. NHS Library link: http://www.nisdtx.org/site/Default.aspx?PageID=3587

I just finished reading UNEARTHLY by Cynthia Hand and must say I LOVED it! I rarely write actual reviews, but here's what I said on GoodReads: The relationships were wonderfully honest, clever, and refreshingly new. I loved the characters. I loved the way the mysteries unfolded. Of all the angel books out there that I've read, this is by far my fave. A great read for even those who don't read angel books! And while completely satisfying - there was room for a sequel which I will be anxiously awaiting. (I seldom read two books by the same author - there are so many books I want/need to read, it takes a lot to read a second.) Bravo Cynthia! Here's the trailer...
You continue to inspire me! Haven't made any trailers yet, but it's on the list for this summer. Nicely done (plus I haven't even seen The Gardiner, so now I'm going to go hunting for it!) Thanks, Janice
You can download this for your OPAC or a presentation on the NHS Library webpage. Look for the "Digital Booktalk" link under the Mighty Red N :) http://www.nisdtx.org/120820731141528687/site/default.asp

So, I put this website out on the listserv today, and I can see so many possibilities with it! The little "let google help" button comes in handy!! Here's my binder, which is just a beginning attempt at putting together resources....there is so much out there!
Here's one I just finished. I'm trying to get more creative not only with background, but with fonts now too. I've come light years than since I first began...

I used Sony Studio Platinum 9 to create the trailer as well as Digital Juice for their music and overlays (you have to purchase these to use them) and of course creativecommons : )
I had fun making this one!! Gave me the shivers when I watched it- not really, but it is kinda spooky : ) NO SCHOOL TODAY!! Yippee!!!! We have ice on the roads, so I get to stay in and read some more and then play some Farkle with my daughter and host daughter. So I'll try to upload this trailer, crossing my fingers... enjoy!

I admit...I'm a geek. When I was a kid, I LOVED watching Star Trek and the Twilight Zone. Now, many years later, TZ has resurrected itself for today's YA through graphic novels. I devoured the first three and eagerly await the rest!! What's most interesting is that the first page covers biographical info on Rod Serling as well as a social impact it had on the episodes created through what was happening in current events back then. But instead of watching something about racism, it recreated itself into something with a more science fiction bend. What an eye-opener for me! Didn't realize I was watching something deeper than 30 minutes of fascination from my UHF channel to my living room. I think teens will snap these up with a little help from booktalking. So, here's something to help! A small video I put together to throw into a booktalk. I'll put it on schooltube, along with my others for your enjoyment and download : )

Not quite realistic fiction, not quite alternate reality, Myers bring Lil J to life not only by his deeds and actions, but how he reacts to Kelly, a man with an unusual gift and a television that can show Lil J certain moments in his life. Posing a question, Kelly asks Lil J if he could change one day, which would it be? And there is when the reader sees Lil J's life in full color: from the decisions he makes, to the way he feels, to where he is now. But what will ultimately happen to him? This is a tale of the hood I've never really encountered before, and although short, it's a powerful read. It will most assuredly have appeal to YA readers, from the reluctant readers to those who read voraciously.
I wanted to do something other than moviemaker...here I used Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9. It was a learning curve, but I liked it! There is a 30 day free trial before you buy...

Aww...looks like a fun read. I really need to get back into trailers. I look to you to inspire me :) No pressure.
Analine, you have made some awesome trailers yourself! One of yours even made me tear up....that's how good they are!
