Bo is precious! What a cute little face. Keep telling hubby I need a dog, and he grumbles something about "you know you are allergic," so I just love everyone else's.

A true rescue dog would have been nice, IF there had not been allergies involved. I think the Obamas did the best they could to accomodate their daughters, and their donation probably helped more than one homeless puppy at a shelter somewhere. Good job!

Karen, Bo is hypo-allergenic, so tell hubby one just like him would be perfect!!

I think Bo's great, but water dogs don't often like to let their people swim for fun, just a trivia point a newfoundland owner told me once.

And Karen, PWDs like Bo and Greyhounds are hypoallergenic...so tell the hubby the excuses are dwindling - pets are good for your heart too!

I'm glad they have a dog. But, oh, would it have been so horrible to let the breed choice slide and stick with the shelter plan? I think I might rather have seen them become flexible going in the direction of a shelter dog that might have ended up being a perfect mutt. I know what that would have done for adoption at shelters...now watch how many people will pay out the nose for the breed instead. Oh well.

That was my first thought too, Julie, but then I thought about poor Malia and her allergies.

Guess it's better that both girls can enjoy and love Bo rather than one having to avoid him.

Let's hope their contribution saved lots of dogs and cats!

I have designed the cards with my girlfriend's art! She was a great lover of animals and died of cancer! What better way to put her art to good use. She's smiling in heaven!

Talk about a breed with issues! Our Zena is the most precious, kind dog but people see her and freak out! (size and bad press)

Many end up in kill shelters!

I think he's cute too! Not a traditional "rescus" but apparently he still needed a new home! I'd never really heard of this breed before.

He's a really cute dog. One thing I think is great about his pick is that this is a breed I'd never heard of, so the Obama's are introducing a lot of us to a new breed of dog. Plus, he works for Malia's allergies.
