I have a friend who has just adopted an African American baby. She and her husband are white. I want to give them some baby board books where the families are multiracial. So far I have chosen:Global Babies, by Global Fund for Babies. Babies of all ethnicities from around the world. Not multiracial families but diverse nonetheless.More, More, More Said the Baby by Vera B. Williams. Three

Text by Stella Blackstone, illustrations by Caroline Mockford. Barefoot Books, 2003. Board Book edition, 2007. Review copy from the publisher. I have to say this is one of my all time favorite alphabet books. I love the bright, bold colors, the action, and the charming simplicity of the animal and child characters. The alphabet letters are prominently displayed on each page in Upper and Lower

I was in the bookstore the week before Easter, looking for new books for my boy's baskets. I had an armful already and was on my way to check out when I saw these two books. I couldn't resist adding them to my stack. I thought it was a cute series. When I got home I realized they don't share the same author or illustrator. Anyone else notice this? illustrated by Tim Warnes. Simon & Schuster, 2008 board book edition. Warnes has illustrated the classic hymn Jesus Loves Me with scenes from life in a warm, loving family of bears. The text is spread out throughout the book with a line or two for each picture. It includes the familiar first verse, the chorus and a couple of verses I had never heard before. I bought it for my three year old's

I took a photo of the paintings at Sherbrooke Gallery Exhibit on Thursday when visiting with a friend and it amazes me the amount of work behind this small display. Nine paintings in total (one not in view) and months of preparation. We work so hard for our craft I wonder how many really appreciate the effort behind painting. The paintings come down tomorrow afternoon and I will be adding the
What about Carrie __________ *I Don't Have Your Eyes*? Published by EMK Press--I'm blanking on her last name now. It's written for adoptive families, looking at things that are similar and things that are different (I don't have your eyes, but I do have your way of seeing the world, e.g.) and has lots of physical diversity in the art.
I bought a bunch of books for my friend, who's part of an interracial family. most are picture books, not board books, though...black is brown is tan by Adoff, Arnold; The Colors of Us by Katz, Karen; We're Different, We're the Same by Kates, Bobbi; I'm Chocolate, You're Vanilla: Raising Healthy Black and Biracial Children in a Race-Conscious World: A Guide for Parents and Teachers by Marguerite
Yes of course! These are familiar to me and I will definitely look for them for my friend. I really like Black is Brown is Tan and I also have I'm Chocolate, You're Vanilla in our school library.More suggestions will be much appreciated!
"Everywhere Babies" has some groupings that we've decided are interracial families. :)
hi! I'm Zetta's friend... here are some more suggestions, though not all are board books:Nina Bonita by Ana Machado and Rosana Faria; Brown Like Me by Noelle Lamperti (specifically deals with transracial adoption); Shades of Black by Sandra L. Pinkney; You Are Important (series of 5 books) by Todd Snow and Melodee Strong; Black, White, Just Right by Marguerite Davol and Irene Trivas; The Hello
I was thinking about Everywhere Babies today! We also have Shades of Black and The Goodbye Window, which I love. I will look for some of the other ones too. Thanks for all these suggestions!!
Ah! I was going to say Everywhere Babies first off the bat, but Heather beat me to it. I also remember Chinese Eyes by Marjorie Ann Waybill from my childhood.
