Excellent review -- you've exactly captured my reservations about these books. And we have definitely noticed how some books like these (and Junie B.) affect our kids' behavior in not-very-nice ways.
Thanks. It was a tough one to write and I suspect I am preaching to the choir, so to speak. Really, I think my true aim was to encourage parents to play a more interactive role in their children's reading lives. Again, carrying coals to Newcastle, I suspect. Great review, always hesitant to read books that lable kids so readily, really want kids to become their own peol without too much generalisation.
