100 Cupboards, another novel (two in one year! whew!) from the author of Leepike Ridge, is the first book in a new fantasy trilogy.Henry York has come to stay with his cousins, aunt and uncle in Henry, Kansas. Everything seems normal enough, until Henry wakes one morning to find a few cupboards coming out of the plaster in his bedroom. What he and one of his cousins discover could unlock an evil that is centuries old.
I really enjoyed this book. I love the author's writing style - 100 Cupboards has down-to-earth and humorous moments similar to Leepike Ridge. It was certainly darker than Leepike, though. The characters had a comforting, timeless sort of feel to them; they are the sort of people that anyone could know. 100 Cupboards is imaginative and tantalizing, leaving you wanting more of these mysterious new worlds.
*slight spoiler* Admittedly there were a few spots I had quips with. For instance, when Henry found out his parents weren't his birth parents, I thought his reaction would be stronger. That was sort of glazed over. Not a real biggie though. *end spoiler*
This was such a fun read. Just a word of advice: Don't read this book late into the night . . . I became a little freaked out. ;) Alas though, a cliff-hanger ending. Now all I have to say is: Gimme the sequel! When does Dandelion Fire, the second in this trilogy, come out?!
I am so very jealous. I want to read this one so very much :)
I had a feeling you would be. :)
Sounds cool.
Sounds like he has another winner!
Seems very interesting :) If only I had more time to read...
*screams* Can't wait to read this one!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ooh! Making a mental note to buy this one soon! 100 Cupboards is just SUCH a cool title.
