I have work in another group show at Psycho Donuts. Please come by and visit if you're local!
The show is up now.
Psycho Donuts2006 Winchester Boulevard Campbell, CA 95008
I used a combination of craft paper and an old copy of Huck Finn for
the collage. I had to work hard to keep this simple and let the paper shine.
I painted on top of the butterfly prints to make them pop.
If you were following my abbreviated attempt at Sweet Squares,
these may seem familiar to you. I was using the squares to test out ideas.

Rhode Montijo’s upcoming project/book Skeletown is inspired by the Mexican Day of the Dead, and it’s just the kind of mix of cute and creepy that I love. Rhode has posted a collection of development and concept pieces at Skeletown.com.

I really like where this one is heading. It would be cool if the skull was a search light that shot beams of light from the eyes...and maybe some goblin monoliths behind him on the ledge? Just good props and scenery would make this a solid illo!
Thanks Joe! Great to hear from you! I was thinking it needed something. I was considering glowing eyes...
I love the goblin design! Thanks for sharing the sketch. Always love seeing artist's process.
All the best!
Thanks Charles!! Really enjoying following you on Twitter!
