True. My sister-in-law is living with us for the summer, doing an internship in speech/language pathology at a local retirement community, and she's living in the Man Cave.
*sigh*
So my new "writing area" is the dining room table with an old laptop from school. Maybe it has some ghosts I can take advantage of...
In other, happier news:
In the category of Cate Gardner clued me in: "The World in Rubber, Soft and Malleable", while not making the top ten in the storySouth Million Writers Award, Jason Sanford has posted his short list, and well...I'm humbled to see "Malleable" included. I need to write more stories like that, eh?
"Ranching the Sleore" is definitely not a story like that...but Comet Press released the TOC for their forthcoming Sick Things anthology a couple weeks ago. Looks like a nasty line up. And by nasty I mean good...in an anthology of extreme creature horror, anyway.

"Holy Evictions, Boy Wonder!" Sorry to hear about the loss of the Man Cave. I'm sure the force will still be with you at the dining room table. I'm sure the fact you made the ToC of the Sick Things Anthology has taken the sting away.
Is your sister-in-law sure she needs sleep? If someone tried to move into my cave I'd bury them in my 'to read' pile.

I was 'evicted' from my writing space in our loft a few months back - my son has come back home for a while 'til he moves to Japan with his girlfriend - I now sit at my kitchen table which is not real good for my posture; as I'm not very tall I have to sit on a child's booster cushion to work at my laptop in comfort!
As long as she doesn't paint it pink in there. Congrats on the well-deserved shortlisting!

Why did you have a writing cave dragon in your Man Cave to keep all intruders out?

I feel you on the Man Cave issue. My own little writing area is where the dining table ought to be-- my desk is there instead. We live in a two bedroom apartment and my husband works from home, with a lot of conference calls, so he gets the extra one. I try and block myself off with bookshelves, but there's only so much you can do. ;)
