1. FEAR FACTOR:TERROR INCOGNITO opens discourse on terrorism – on the Central Coast NSW

The pre-launch is at the stylish Regional Art Gallery in Gosford.

Doctors gather from all over the Central Coast to have an evening event on:‘The impact of Fear-Terror on people.

Respected psychiatrist, Dr Iyr eludicated  fear and its crippling impact. Fear can make us sick. Part of the way to disempower FEAR is through story, opening up fears, talking, understanding and seeking answers.

Fear Factor: Terror Incognito was given a huge launch on the evening. It’s 20 different personal stories from Indian and Australian authors, on terrorism, reveal the human face of terrorism, fear, alienation and invite discussion and change.

Stories include the writing of Sir Salman Rushdie, Thomas Keneally, Rosie Scott, David Malouf …. and me.  My story ‘Days of Thailand’ was  an intense journey about father-son relationships, fears, moral responsibility, philosophy, ideas and ultimately hope.

Dr Andrew Kwong organised this brilliant pre-launch and lots of people joined the doctors. Andrew’s story as a refugee from the Chinese cultural revolution is one of the stories. Today Andrew is a successful and much loved doctor on the Central Coast, husband and father of 3 children and …a short story writer with his story in the anthology.

I hope schools buy this book so that senior students can discuss terrorism, to find their way towards peace.

Barry Humphries, well his double edged portrait by Jules Sevelson, is watching over the pre-publication celebration of ‘Fear Factor: Terror Incognito’.

It’s a unique book - a cross cultural Indian anthology with 10 stories by Indian authors and 10 stories by Australian authors to be published this week by Picador India. Then Picador UK and in March by Picador Australia.

Who are the other authors? Booker Prize winners and shortlisted authors including Sir Salmon Rushdie, Thomas Keneally, David Malouf and many reknowned authors.

The brilliant editors are writer and lecturer at University of Technology Sydney Sharon Rundle and author and highly regarded academic Dr Meenakshi Bharat professor at University of Delhi.
The brief - write a narrative fiction of 4000-5000 words about terrorism as it affects ordinary people. What a brilliant brief!!!! Loved writing ‘Days of Thailand.’
