I see that your winged mammals are sporting their summer wear…adorably fashionable!

Interesting comment about keeping things “loose and free”…I find myself struggling with this same issue when it comes to work I do for others. No problems when its something I’m doing for myself, but once others are involved, I tighten up.

I’m doing a watercolour for cartoons workshop at the Drawn & Quarterly Store in June or so (they haven’t given me a date!). I know I’m not the most perfect watercolourist, but I’m enthusiastic, and love imparting, and think I can teach people techniques that can help them do what they want to do.

Oh, that’s cool, Jack! I’d be curious how you do your wcoloring as well as how you teach it. Maybe I can drop in and watch if I’m able. ~pjb

Ah, it LOOKS cold but it’s actually rather warm (note they don’t have pants on). There mothers would certainly have not let them go pantless if it were!

Not one single squirrel in NZ.

I’ve taken care of it this year by running away for the holidays. Running away to a place with no family.

Oh, and I love the little dancer, she’s so cute.

If we’re not talking children, you can always take all the money you would have spent on gifts and give it to a charity. Then give them a card saying the money for a gift was given to charity in their name.

Even if they don’t like it, they can’t say a thing about it since it would make them look horrible. In my experience though, people like the idea.

And the charity idea is a good one. My fIL is doing this for all of us this Christmas. He actually said we could designated 20 % of our money gift to charity, but P & I asked to have it all done so.

But there are two teens involved. I figure a card for them with some cash will be fine. The others….Perhaps a charity donation…and also an adult beverage to help get one through it all.

One can never go wrong with clam chowder from Maine!

I amazon.com just about everything. I pay a yearly fee that gives me two day shipping for free. Click, click click done with Christmas shopping. I completely understand where you’re coming from though.

Giving to charity is great. My rep donated money this year in lieu of gifts and I really liked that.

For teens: itunes gift certificates is always welcomed I am sure.

And food and adult beverages makes for great gifts. I love to eat lol. My sister sent my parents lobsters once. These days with the internet, you can really send anything and everything!

Thanks so much for mentioning the passing of our friend, that would make him happy to be remembered on your site. He got a lot of enjoyment looking at your sketches, and reading your blog. He and I had many discussions after our individual viewing and reading of the newly posted pieces. His funeral was earlier today, in Houston. I miss him very much.

Are the digital watercolors transparent like real watercolors? Can you go opaque so you could paint the octopus over the background color or do you have to color inside the lines on everything?

I love the visual progression of the young Missionary and his ‘flock’ tied to the seemingly small monetary donation made in Church. As ‘roughs’, I suppose the gray-black with golden highlights coloring might be changed in the finished version, though I hope not. I find these shadings to be very effective in projecting both a sense of ‘retro’ or nostalgia for (post) Baby Boomers and for an economy of institutional effort (’we don’t spend our donation dollars on fancy colors, but on getting the best artist ) Yeoh!!!!
