LEAP DAY BABY
by
Gregory K.
My father never acts his age.
My mother says that's great.
See, Dad's a leap day baby and today he's turning eight!
Now go leap on over to the Poetry Friday roundup hosted by the uber-wonderful Kelly Fineman and get a bonus helping of poetry in February. You'll be glad you did... and it's probably the only time I'll ask you to leap. So c'mon already. LEAP!

The coffee has yet to kick in and I’m a little weirded out by how affected I am by the humidity after the glorious
I’m still mulling over the best way to sum up the program because the topics ranged widely over the whole publishing field and I’m not sure that all of it will be that interesting to you. Not to mention if there was a PowerPoint presentation involved and the lights were turned off, I got a serious case of the nods, which is not very conducive to note taking.
I’ve set aside today to get serious with my three-hole-punch to organize my notes into one cohesive whole, so that tomorrow we can launch into the Denver Publishing recap (as well as off-topic discussions on what occurred to me while I was listening to speakers). If you have any questions about the subjects I bring up, or on the program as a whole, please let me know.
Until later then, I must unpack all the stuff I managed to collect in a month’s time. Thank goodness I drove because I hate to think what I would have been charged for trying to get this all on a plane.

APRIL FOOLS
by
Gregory K.
Someone took my toothpaste tube and filled it up with jam.
Someone changed my sandwich into fluffernut-and-ham.
Someone laced my sneakers so they tie down by my toes.
Someone changed the vacuum so it doesn't suck, it blows.
Someone poured the sugar out and filled the bowl with salt.
Someone messed up all the clocks and made it seem my fault.
For me today, I have to say, it's nervousness that rules....
Since all that happened yesterday and now it's April Fools'!
(I'm posting an original poem-a-day through April in celebration of National Poetry Month. Links to this and other poems here on GottaBook (and there are lots of others, because poetry is NOT just for April) are collected over on the right of the blog under the headline "The Poems".)
I love this! My cousin turns five today. :)
Cute! We all seem focused on February ... or rather, on leaping past it.
Love this, Greg. Too funny.
My grandfather used to tell us about his uncle, who died when he was 14 but had a wife and 5 children. Your poem brought it back for me - thank you for that gift!
Love it Greg! This is a DOUBLE good year for leap year babies turning Sweet 16....its also their Sgt. Pepper Birthday..."Will you still need me, will you still feed me, When i'm sixty-four."
Sweet!
jewoebLove it!
We need lots more silliness in this world.
You've performed a much needed service for mankind!
