Two things came together yesterday.I saw a documentary on the brain. It showed that writers are at their most creative when the part of the brain that deals with future scenarios, the what if area, is activated with the part that thinks about people, the who’s there area. Brain scans have shown that these two areas light up and work together when we’re idle.

I would love to see you hover! I enjoyed reading this - how frustrating to have to go at that ending again. At least, they like the story so much that you can tackle the ending again... and again... and again... and again....(I'm being evil...hehehe.) <br /><br />By the sounds of it, you'll have a great ending in no time!

Genius Ms Lynas. Pure genius. For my sins (i.e. to fund my writing!) I am currently teaching Open University students about the brain and this week we're doing unconscious learning! I might well point them to your post. It's a perfect illustration of what the brain can do when it's not 'thinking'! x

Oh dear, that just got me thining about a recent puppy walk when we found a squashed frog in the middle of the road. Another option for your story ending?
Hah, that's great! You see, procrastination is a writers' tool - and it gets those horrible jobs done - bet you never even noticed that you'd washed up, hovered over your carpets, iron-surfed and done a death defying window-ledge walk! No, you were too busy in your head making up stories - and that's just how it should be.
Don't let my husband read this post! Just kidding. I do find that housework and running are two times when ideas pop into my head.
There were reports on Look North of a woman behaving oddly in Saltburn. Now I know who it was.
