Penguin Group (USA) has partnered with the online BlogHer community to create a book club. Sassymonkey Reads blogger/BlogHer contributing editor Karen Ballum will host.
According to Book Business Magazine, the book club will average two titles per month. Caleb’s Crossing by Geraldine Brooks is the first pick. Participants will enjoy special book club features such as live chats, behind-the-scenes looks at the researching and writing process, and writing tips.

Sarah Landis has been named senior editor at HarperCollins’ Children’s Books. She will work primarily on teen fiction titles and report to editorial director Farrin Jacobs.
Landis served as an editor at Hyperion Books/Voice for almost five years. Prior to this, she held positions in editorial and marketing at Penguin Group (USA).
At Hyperion Books/Voice, Landis edited several novels including The Monsters of Templeton by Lauren Groff, The Day the Falls Stood Still by Cathy Marie Buchanan, The Beach Street Knitting Society and Yarn Club by Gil McNeil. Some of the memoirs she has edited include Perfection by Julie Metzmoir and Just Who Will You Be? by Maria Shriver.

Starting this winter, Penguin Group (USA) will distribute review copies through NetGalley–a digital option for book reviewers.
Penguin can now invite reviewers, media contacts, and other professional readers to access digital galleys (some in full color) and promotional materials. NetGalley works on both computers and eReading devices (including Nook, Kobo, Sony eReader, and iPad).
According to the release, 85 publishers currently use NetGalley and its services. Some of those publishers include Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Hachette Book Group, and HarperCollins Publishers.
