Thomas Dunne Books editor Ruth Cavin passed away last Sunday. She was 92-years-old.
Lifelong friend Mike Shatzkin wrote a memorial post on idealog.com: ”Ruth would teach you without it feeling like teaching. Every conversation was with an equal; every relationship was collegial. Her respect for other people was universal and deep and entirely genuine. Tom Dunne was the man who ‘discovered’ Ruth (when she was 70) for his imprint but he had support for the idea from then-CEO Tom McCormack.”
Besides editing, Cavin also worked in publicity and subsidiary rights in the past. She authored a few books including Dinners for Beginners and Trolleys.
