1. Book Safari – the Journey to Woodlands!

Peter Taylor, the multi-talented SCWBI Coordinator , Queensland chapter, and the Book Safari Coordinator, the inimitable Jenny Stubbs roped me in to help with the Book Safari tents at Woodlands. This was a first for me and proved to be an excellent networking and promotional activity. Opportunity abounded to talk to lots of teachers, students and other writers, illustrators, publishers and editors.  In other words it was reading, hearing, viewing and doing STORIES, pretty much non stop!

Here is a pictorial overview from the days I was there – 2nd, 3rd and 5th of September.  PHOTOGRAPHS: 1-3 Woodlands;

2. MS Readathon 2008 - Media - Advertisements

On my way home from Vancouver I detoured to Brisbane for the launch of the MS Readathon in Queensland. I met a lovely bunch of kids, but more importantly, an inspiring bunch of kids - the top fund raisers for last year. Some had personal connections with Multiple Sclerosis; more had learned about it through their involvement with the Readathon. But they'd all fundraised and read with extraordinary dedication.

Congratulations to all of them - and good luck to everyone reading for the Readathon this year. Here's a link to the Community Service Announcement I recorded with Jodie Foster at Sea World the day of the Australian premier.

4. Qué Cosas... - Five things...

Irene --- Casa desnuda
Blanca --- Blanca BK
Moni --- El gato de papel
Mac --- Satélite Secreto
Rocío --- Ro NellaLluna

...................

I, ve been tagged by Nacho and Zari
to explain five things about me...

  1. I´m devoted to children´s illustrated books. I´ll get lost at this section if you leave me in a bookshop.
  2. 2. After five intense years studying Fine Arts, Salamanca is my second city. But Cáceres, the place where I was born, is always in my heart. The City of the Storks.
  3. 3. I hide myself under a lot of coats, scarves and caps in winter. Maybe I feel the cold a little…
  4. 4. I like to invent stories. Stories about unknown people at the street, interesting places somewhere, objects without owner… I think everything has something to tell.
  5. 5. I love black licorice.
Sorry for my English...
