Central Park Serenade
by Laura Godwin (Author), Barry Root (Illustrator); Joanna Cotler, 2002
Ages Baby-Preschool
I was born and raised in New York and will always be a New Yorker at heart, even though I now live in Connecticut. But that is why I loved reading Central Park Serenade. It will put you right smack in the middle of one of the most famous parks in the world, Central Park. Imagine yourself sitting on a bench and taking in all the sights and sounds on a summer day. The rhyming couplets make for a melodic read and the repetitive verse is fun to read over and over again. Watch the children play, hear the buses beep, and feel the hustle and bustle of this urban park located in the heart of The Big Apple.
