1. Who is Avery Cates?

"Avery Cates ... is reminiscent of James Bond if 007 had no money, no cars, no fancy suits, no chicks, no snappy one-liners and only the occasional gun and luck to save his sweet ass from a revolving door of death."

Yea!

It's from a blog review here

3. Eau de Brimstone!

I wonder if I should use Jeff Somers recent blog mention as a trade reference on my Publishers Marketplace page:

A week or so ago I was sitting in my agent’s office, signing some contracts.

ME: Uh, was I supposed to sign this page?

AGENT: (peering through the cloud of brimstone and smoke that swirls around her perpetually) No! Does it have your name next to it?

I'm not sure whether this is an improvement over being run over by a cement mixer, being made into a ninja droid, or being made someone's crotchety great aunt-- all of which I've seen in the last couple manuscripts from my ..ahem...beloved clients!

4. Jeff Somers versus NYComic Con

Well, he got there in one piece, and he left in one piece.

Clearly my work here isn't done.

And for proof; the videos

If you'll be at Comic Con this weekend, make sure you step right up to Jeff and intone "You're fucked Mr. Cates" then laugh maniacally!

6. Bewitched, Bothered and Bewitched by Maggie Shayne

Cover Image In this selection of three stories, Shayne explores how three witched find love (although not all of them know they have any power).  Though none are connected by anything other than the magic in them, each is charming.  These are fun and fluffy and good for a quick read.  In one, a young girl must sleep with her childhood crush to create a witch that will help heal the world.  In another, a private eye accidentally conjures up a musketeer who turns out to be just perfect for her.  And finally, a con man is shown that love comes in mysterious ways when he falls into a wall and into the past where he must prove that he can mend his ways.
