In the previous installment of this series, I noted that I was looking forward to watching some more grown-up fare at the movie theater. Eight months later, I seem to have failed spectacularly at that task. There are a whole bunch of movies for adults, like Boyhood and Whiplash, that I meant to see and never got around to, and here I am again reporting on the more shlocky end of the scale. So

HOWEVER - I simply had to share this bookstore with you, because it boasted a very special feature. Lining the walls above the shelves were some purely brilliant quotes from some of the most famous authors in all of history.
Just beautiful!

"Where do you get your ideas?" is still the question I get asked most as an author. The second-most-asked question is "How do you write a book?" The answer to both questions is simple: I don't know. But I can tell you how I do it. Writing, like any art form, is whatever you can [...]

- A.B.C. = Airport Bookstore Commentary
- I have visited (and revisited) several bookstores throughout my travels. Mostly in the Denver, Minneapolis and Salt Lake City airports... Anyway, airport bookstores are my favorite type of bookstore in the world (excepting only indie children's bookstores). So I thought I'd share some commentary on each one that I visit.
HOWEVER - I simply had to share this bookstore with you, because it boasted a very special feature. Lining the walls above the shelves were some purely brilliant quotes from some of the most famous authors in all of history.
F. Scott Fitzgerald, or, "Fitzy," as I have taken to calling him thanks to Little Willow:
Just beautiful!

Sweet. Go Salt Lake!
Sweet idea! (ABC.) And the quotes are awesome. The Stephen King one reminds me of that Picasso quote - "Art is the lie that enables us to realize the truth," or something like that.
Ok, that's basically amazing. :) I love the C.S. Lewis quote!
Okay. When I have my house... I am GANKING this idea. Very cool, what great quotes.
that is so AWESOME erin!
I wanna go :( haha
I'm pretty sure the Detroit airport has a bookstore. Wanna come inspect it?
What a cool idea... I'm hoping you will keep at it. And I need to visit the SLC airport now, just so I can see the bookstore for myself! (And I shamelessly borrowed some of the quotes...)
LOVE THIS. Oh, oh, how inspiring!
WICKED
thanks 4 sharing!
Great idea! :)
I was in the Minneapolis airport's bookstores two weeks ago ... reading The Brothers Karamasov on my way back from Kiev. The Authors store there has a cool banners over the entrance. Not as good as your photos, of course, but I'm guessing it might be in your posting future...
Awesome pictures! That is so cool.
That has to be the coolest airport bookstore ever.
That is so awesome, Erin.
Unfortunately, with two kids in tow I'm barely making my flights so have never noticed this bookstore at the SLC airport. Why do you go through it so often? I just looked at your profile and saw you are in Idaho.
Natasha: my family and I visit CA a couple times a year for medical reasons; our layover on the way there is usually in Denver and on the way home our stop is usually in SLC. :)
Thanks for posting those quotes!
I love the pictures! So cool and what great quotes. :)
Awesome pics! That looks like a great bookstore--I just love all those quotes.
I do not have a facebook, sorry to say, but I'm thinking of starting to blog again. Even though I have a pretty hectic life in college, I still find myself wanting to talk about books on my blog :-)
Can you please post the address? I just need a link somewhere. Maybe even for a few minutes. That would be enough. Plus...
it's usamahrocks.myspace.com
and he's this kid in my class. He's not supposed to have a myspace and I just really want to see what it is.
