Two things came together yesterday.I saw a documentary on the brain. It showed that writers are at their most creative when the part of the brain that deals with future scenarios, the what if area, is activated with the part that thinks about people, the who’s there area. Brain scans have shown that these two areas light up and work together when we’re idle.
Brilliant news! No more housework – I’
A great start to the morning. Thank you! And I can't wait to hear more about your ending (really good luck with that publisher). I saw the end of a programme that sounds like yours so I might go back and watch the rest (the one about the musician and the golfer)? -that's it: musician and golfer -the perfect end to your story...
I would love to see you hover! I enjoyed reading this - how frustrating to have to go at that ending again. At least, they like the story so much that you can tackle the ending again... and again... and again... and again....(I'm being evil...hehehe.)

By the sounds of it, you'll have a great ending in no time!
Hee hee hee - brilliant brilliant post - I have a dragon problem to solve, just off to clean the bathroom then...
Looking good, Maureen! Loved it! Very best with Prince Bob and look forward to reading the series.
Brilliant! Just BRILLIANT! Love your ironing style!
Why is everyone up so early? You guys commented before eight in the morning!
Ha ha! Brilliant post, made me laugh and just where did you get those pictures?? Best of luck with that ending...
Ps Am following now.
Mmm... not entirely convinced that more housework will make me more creative - but you did make me laugh, which sounded a lot like a frog croaking because I have a terrible cold. Great post, Maureen.
Love it, Maureen! (I've clearly been doing my ironing all wrong!)
Genius Ms Lynas. Pure genius. For my sins (i.e. to fund my writing!) I am currently teaching Open University students about the brain and this week we're doing unconscious learning! I might well point them to your post. It's a perfect illustration of what the brain can do when it's not 'thinking'! x
LOL! Oh Maureen, you are a treat, what a wonderful post! Love the pics, you do look so good on an ironing board! ;-)
Well that made me laugh out loud. Don't we all do our ironing like that and it is me washing the windows. Love the post and can't wait to hear the final version
What a brilliant llustration of the effect of housework on 'voice' for writers! Rewarding too for procrastinators like me, online while the washing machine and my thoughts are on rinse mode. Thank you Maureen!
Oh dear, that just got me thining about a recent puppy walk when we found a squashed frog in the middle of the road. Another option for your story ending?
Hah, that's great! You see, procrastination is a writers' tool - and it gets those horrible jobs done - bet you never even noticed that you'd washed up, hovered over your carpets, iron-surfed and done a death defying window-ledge walk! No, you were too busy in your head making up stories - and that's just how it should be.
Don't let my husband read this post! Just kidding. I do find that housework and running are two times when ideas pop into my head.
There were reports on Look North of a woman behaving oddly in Saltburn. Now I know who it was.
Janet! You've rumbled me!
Glad you enjoyed it, Clare. It was on PBS with Alan Alder presenting. Very interesting stuff.
Yay! A fan!
Thanks everyone,I love to brighten your days (sorry Jeannette)
It was a scientific experiment Bridget and Jackie, not procrastination at all. There are brain scans to prove this is thinking without thinking, not of mine though, I'm not certain what they would show.
Ness, I think you missed a bit, there's a bit of a smudge in the top right corner but it could have been on the
Now I know why people post so early - it's so you can recover from reading about squished frogs before you tackle your your weetabix. Funny but gross, Maureen!
Lol! Great post -- made me chuckle! And, I agree. My ideas always come together when I distract my brain. :)
