The challenge doesn't technically end until March 31rst. But I'm finished with the challenge. If you read any of Zora Neale Hurston's books between January 1, 2008 and March 31, 2008 and would like credit for completion or to be included in the roundup, leave a comment. I'd be happy to add you in.
Juliette's thoughts on Their Eyes Were Watching God.

Summer vacation is almost over...the kids start school tomorrow and it's time for me to get back on track with my writing. I was getting too soft over the summer. It was so easy to maintain my writing discipline when the kids were in school. In hindsight, so easy.
And of course, I slipped. It's easier and more fun to hang out with the kids. Who wants to write in a sweltering house? Yeah, yeah...I could've taken my laptop over to the library and worked there...but I didn't.
So. It's time for a Get Back on Track 30 Day Challenge. I'm so psyched. Quite a few people signed up for it over the past week, and there is still time for anyone else to sign up today. Just think. 30 Days to get your good habits back. 30 Days towards your goals. 30 Days of support from me and anyone else who is on with this challenge.
Remember, this is a habit you will commit to everyday for 30 Days, so you'll end up with a productive new daily habit that is as natural to you as brushing your teeth or checking your e-mail.
The rules:
1. By the end of today, 12 midnight EST, write a comment below and be specific to the habit you will work on every day. If you already commented in the last post, no worries.
2. There will be a weekly check-in to make sure you're accountable to the challenge. Check-in dates will be September 1oth, September 17th, September 24th and the final day, October 3rd by 12 midnight EST. The winner will be announced on October 4th.
The best part of this Challenge is the automatic 2 prize combination package for everyone -- 1. A productive new habit for you; 2. Increased motivation to reach your goal. The prize for the person's whose name I'll select at the end of this challenge will be a cool motivational sign. Once I pick it up, I'll post a picture of it.
My 30 Day Challenge is writing everyday for at least 30 minutes. Okay, what's your 30 Day Challenge gonna be?
I'm going to copy you. I'm going to work on my MG manuscript for at least 30 minutes a day. Happy Writing!
Yes, I think I need to really concentrate on my writing. This will be good incentive. - Hmm - specifics. At least 30 minutes a day of actual writing (not playing computer games or reading blogs) a day.
M. Thompson-
Thanks for visiting and welcome aboard! Good luck!

Chris,
I'm so glad you'll join me in this challenge. Go for it!
Writing, 30 mins a day.
Picture book man. or middle grade.
New writing or revision.
Even a thoughtful blog entry on a dry day.
Just exercising the old pen...
Thanks for keepin' us accountable!
HWM: I'm going to amend my earlier goals. While it may be quite possible to master a 3 chord song in one day, some of the more complex songs take time. So, what I'm going to do is take on one new song or story each day, and then work on them over the month. I've been out of practice with looking for new stories, and I'm going to need to jazz up my collection for Halloween. Really, it's a good time to get back on track.
I've decided to go vegetarian and exercise every day for at least thirty minutes. It's time to do someething about the expanding belly.
So I'm off all meat for thirty days. And I'm walking every day for thirty minutes.
Anyone ever try the coconut oil and apple cider miracle weight loss cure?
I weighed in at 124.5 this morning. In 30 days I hope to be 118 lbs. I think I can do it...
I will work on my manuscript every morning for at least 1 hour before I go to work. It's almost ready to send off, and I'm getting nervous. This will help keep me focused. Thank you.
Ryan
Can I just commit to making my bed - and getting the kids to make their beds - for the thirty days? It's part of a larger organization/kids helping more plan that I'm not sure how to define. But I know it's the first step to a neater, tidier existence.
i commented in the previous post -- hope i'm not too late to be "officially" part of the fun.
my goal: to keep walking every day.
thanks for the motivation.
Thanks for joining in, everyone. And yes, Ruth, all commenters from the last post are officially in.
Good luck, everyone!
