2. Gary Oldman and Producer Douglas Urbanski to Collaborate on a Novel

Gary Oldman and Douglas Urbanski (GalleyCat)Actor Gary Oldman and producer Douglas Urbanski have signed a fiction book deal with Emily Bestler Books. The two Hollywood filmmakers plan to write a novel entitled Blood Riders.

As an actor, Oldman has become well-known for portraying Sirius Black in the Harry Potter film franchise and Commissioner James Gordon in Christopher Nolan’s Batman movie trilogy. As a producer, Urbanski has worked on a number of critically acclaimed projects including Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Child 44.

Oldman and Urbanski gave this joint statement in the press release: “We have always wanted to write a story of vampire cowboys, set in the Wild West, the gold rush—and we have had these characters and this story kicking around in our heads for years. We hope everyone is drawn to Magnus and we envision a series of books that follow his curse and struggles with the forces of good and evil, and also the ever present vampire ingredients of blood, and love.” The publication date for this book has been scheduled for Spring 2016. 3. ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Trailer Released

Legendary Pictures has released a two-minute trailer for The Dark Knight Rises, the conclusion of Christopher Nolan‘s Batman film trilogy.

Follow this link to watch the trailer–what do you think? Nolan collaborated on the screenplay with his brother, screenwriter Jonathan Nolan. The movie will hit theaters in July 2012. The trailer highlights the infamous Batman villain Bane as he wrecks Gotham City.

Here’s more from Movies.com: “[The trailer revealed] some enticing dialogue from Anne Hathaway, playing Selina Kyle (aka Catwoman). Naturally her chat with Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale), as they dance close together at a masquerade ball, falls somewhere between seductive and threatening, but that’s what we expect from her character. Will she be a villain? A romantic sidekick? Both? Other brief glimpses of Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine and Matthew Modine are exactly that — brief glimpses.”

Here’s more from the release: “Debut author Sarah Blakley-Cartwright has crafted a lyrical thriller, adapting the movie’s story into a stunning stand-alone work that will have readers eagerly anticipating the film’s opening. Blakley-Cartwright wrote Red Riding Hood from a unique and coveted vantage point — she was on set every day with Hardwicke weaving in details from the world created for the film.”
