1. Boys who sing HOT and COLD

This week we're talking about Fire and Ice in regards to boys. I'm going to write about boys who have written songs with HOT and COLD themes. Okay, I know I'm going to show my age here, but these are my favorite songs from growing up.

I'm so glad I found these videos on YouTube! Click on the links and listen/watch to these HOT and COLD themed songs by these boys:
First, for the HOT songs I loved:

The first song is by Buster Poindexter called HOT, HOT, HOT! It's played probably at every party I've ever been to. It's a great "get up and dance" song, even for the grandparents. Watch it here: (I tried to imbed the video into the blog, but I'm not computer savvy enough)

One of my favorite songs is Hot Blooded performed live by Foreigner in this YouTube video. Foreigner had some amazing songs out, but this one is the HOTtest!

Now for the COLD songs that were my favorite:

When this song came out, me and my friends couldn't stop singing it. And I'm sorry, but I like bad boys and Vanilla Ice was definitely a bad boy back then (and probably still is). I know, I know, it's SO 80's. It's none other than ICE, ICE BABY!

And this is the last COLD video by a boy. It's FUNKY COLD MEDINA by Tone Loc. I loved the story this song told. It's not only a great tune, but it's funny. Tone Loc has a great sense of humor, and the story about Funky Cold Medina is hilarious. I've never had a Funky Cold Medina, by the way.

Happy watching!

3. Part 2: If Damon and I Lived In South Park

You know, that last entry ("If Damon and I Lived In Springfield") about the Simpsons and unofficial Cooleyville tagline ("If the Simpsons were Asian and lived in South Park, you'd have Cooleyville") got me thinking. Suddenly I remembered:

Damon and I have been drawn as South Park characters before, too!

I totally forgot! Tony W did it for our wedding cartoon!

Character designs by Tony Wang in 2002. He modeled the heads after our kid pictures. Then, after getting feedback that they reminded people of South Park, he took the resemblance all the way and designed the bodies and cartoon to suit. It turned out great!

I would upload the full cartoon, which is short and entertaining, but I don't know how. The cartoon is in flash, and we played the music separately at the time. Now I would want to upload the music and visuals together.

Technical advice, anyone?

4. If Damon and I Lived In Springfield

Drat you, Julie. I saw your avatars on Flickr and before I knew it, I was at the Simpsons Movie Web site, too, making my own! Not only did I do one of me, I made one of Damon. Then I made one of Damon from before our South America trip last fall.

Me,
Damon after spending three months in South America,
Damon for the first 31 years of his life.
Go to www.simpsonsmovie.com to make your own!

As you can see, he came back greatly changed.

It's funny, because last year I was involved with a sit com I heard people describe as, "If the Simpsons lived in South Park and were Asian, you'd have Cooleyville." (Another tagline I liked was "We can be dysfunctional, too.") The main character I played was not drawn after me, yet some people felt moved to believe it. (I'm gonna take that as a compliment and leave it at that.)

The Web site is up at Cooleyville.tv. Maybe someday the show will get picked up again!

Cheers!
