My submission for Illustration Friday's "pattern" theme is a painting that will be used on a wine label for Cornell Winery. This is an amazing little area and the buildings are quaint and old timey. The person that made this building employed many different materials, which in turn has created an array of many "patterns". I will be painting another building in this area as well. I embellished the vineyard aspect in this painting for the owner of the winery because in fact a beautiful park is there called Peter Strauss Ranch against a mountain backdrop. This was the perfect angle of the building for me as it highlights this unique steeple. It is a historical landmark area and I am quite taken with the place. Quite a few vineyards and wine tasting establishments have sprung up in the canyons of Malibu in the last few years. I enjoy creating wine labels and when the printing is finished I will repost.
Last night I posted a giveaway here and one of my readers will win 250 full colour greeting cards courtesy of Uprinting. Please read the details and enter to win some free greeting cards that you can put your art or photos on for the holidays!

My backyard is State Park so these critters are coming close to our home because it is very, very hot the last few days. I put some water out for them :) copyright 2009 Valerie Walsh

See this would work for a person like me. I love wine bottle labels!! I love the art on some of them and here you are getting ready to share yours with us! What a fabulous illustration. Very well done. It's great. I loved you on,"That's Clever" You are so very talented and I know your family must be so very proud of you!! Cause I am! YOU GO VAL!!!!
i like labels like your work. this is very attractive and creates an honest and warm feeling-because the building is well-lighted and neat.....and so i was talking to myself and saying, ohh this is where this wine's produced....it makes a buyer to know more about the product, the company.....not just reading a name with a logo.
I want to come hang out in your back yard!! :-)
I have to buy a case of the wine. When is this label coming out? Oh Val! I just love how you create. I had to remove your video because it was causing upload problems for some of my friends whose network bans You Tube. So I was sorry to see that go. I only had it for two days.
Ahhh! beautiful Topanga Park Those animals are beautiful. Just make sure the bears don't come close! Are there bears there?
Someday I have to drag Bella with me to come and meet you.
Great submission for pattern--! I want to live there too (get me out of apartments! blech)
This place you painted reminds me of a great wooden building up in Idaho near where I used to live. Near Coeur d' Alene...wonderful place and beautiful environment. Your deer photos remind me of that too!
dood
oh, yes, you must post the labels once they are printed! you always have a novel approach - never seen rows of grapes done like this - very nice coming over the hillside!
your HGTV piece is great! i learhed a lot!
I love your wine labels. The pattern of the vines is awesome. You have such an enormous capacity to create with imagination, its wonderful. I'd love to follow (couldn't see where your followers list was?) and to put a link on mine about your giveaway, but without some help not sure how to do it.
I can't wait to see this all printed up, it's a stunning painting with such beautiful details. Congratulations.
Those photographs are so lovely too.
I love those vines coming over the hill...cool!
The only critters we've seen an abundance of lately are snakes. Someone killed a 6ft long timber rattler near my house the other day. I think I'll stay inside until winter!
Beautiful as usual Valerie! Kisses
Wow! Just very very beautiful!
I love your all your creative creation on houses.
I wonder whether I can stay here or not! It could be a dream!
Loving the bricks' details and the background landscape.
It's a neat inspirational piece. Happy weekends and bye Valerie!
I like the way it was constructed. My baby will be overwhelmed if she sees the deer.
