President Bush has had his last press conference.
I almost (almost) feel sorry for the guy. Just a little.
In other news, there really isn't any.
The weather continues to be bizarrely Springlike here in sunny California. Lawns are turning brown, and yesterday I saw the guy across the street outside with no shirt on. (While yesterday in Hibbing, Minnesota, it was 45 below. I can't even imagine how cold that is.)
Water rationing is not far off I fear. Remember that from years past? How much fun that was? Taking "stop and start" showers; hauling 'grey water' (rinse water) from the laundry out to water the yard; feeling sheepish having to ask for a glass of water in a restaurant. Good times.

I finished some art I shouldn't really show (a job). It was a study in greys, and architecture, and in colored pencil. I do love my Prismacolor French Greys, but still love my Polychromos better.~~~~~~~~
I was googling images for an art idea I have. These are both paintings of Catherine of Aragon, at different ages and by different artists.
There are a whole bunch more than these as well. It got me thinking about having your portrait painted instead of relying on photos. There are no spontaneous or out of focus or bad hair day paintings, are there? No I cropped your head off or that centerpiece was in the way or any of that.
I don't know where I'm going with this. Its just the kind of thing I was pondering today, as I sat out on my back porch, sipping my coffee and listening to the birdies madly chirping.
Weird weather will do that I guess.

Those old portraits always seem to have such pasty-looking skin. I know light skin was much to be desired back then, but I wonder if their skin was really that white? Reminds me of dumplings before they're cooked! ;-)
ooh I wish I could see what you are working on. Those portraits would be great inspiration for something. Have you seen Koo Schadler's work? http://www.kooschadler.com/ She's here in town giving a workshop this week which I can't afford... but I love her work. Its too cold to go outside anyway... unless you're in CA! :-)
Teresa, that's a perfect analogy! I'm very dumpling-like myself (in more ways than one) so I love it!
And Nicole, those paintings are amazing. I can now add "egg tempera" to my list of things I want to try!
Off topic...your pastels displayed in Etsy are marvelous.
And I felt sorry...er...no, I didn't.
That was a bizarre press conference.
Don't those portraits look suspiciously alike? I'm thinking plagarism!
Miss chatting with you :(
